Wow truly outstanding instruments. The guy who's playing the Duduk looks like hes playing a friggen Tuba lol. It really must be difficult to play that instrument, he's great at it though.

I know what you mean when you say an instrument is overused, and its annoying as a composer when you find something great and you love it, but it turns out to be just an overused instrument.

But I think its better to just use what you love, because how else can you enjoy the music you are creating, you know?

There are thousands of instruments in the world, whether it be electronic or natural, theres a certain sound that everyone can relate to, which is why they choose to use the instrument persistently.

So heres my top 10 list. 1 as being most favorite.

1. Pan Flute -The sound of this instrument is so incredible to me. Its this feeling of natural beauty, untouched by the creation of man. Very spiritual instrument.
2. Cello -just a great instrument
3. Erhu - Defines Japanese and Chinese culture, which is what i love.
4. Hang Drum - limited, but incredible instrument. If this drum were not limited, it would be my favorite.
5. ContraBassoon/Bassoon -I always loved Bassoon, it can be playful and funny, and yet at the same time, have
6. Celesta -a mysterious sound that i really enjoy.
7. Lute - My favorite form of guitar, such rich sound.
8. Timpani -A drum that has pitch, and can play chords and possibly more? yes please.
9. Bells -Nothing catches your attention more, than a bell. Gotta love em.
10. Piano -It would be a crime not to mention the Piano. Its a great instrument, but to me lacks what these instruments posses.

If you could have any animal as a pet (meaning it wouldn't kill you, or it didnt die for some reason) what would it be?

I think I would have a monstrous Toad, name him Scrump, and he could chill on my left shoulder lol.

you have no idea how much styles i am familiar with.. so ill just write em down here, im sure its 90% more than you can do.

piano classical, orchestral classical, jazz, neo lounge, ambient, hybrid dnb styles, 8bit, 16bit, textbook modern vg and mellow (a type of ambient with more concentration on the individual sounds, and less chord oriented strings etc, pretty much a genre for relaxation)

And lately im making alot of fusions between two or multiple genre's.

So who were you again?

I am not impressed by the amount of styles you "say" you are able to perform, rather than really able to.

Yes i agree it was a good movie and i even felt bad for salieri even though samewise, it was inaccurate on him too.

But still.

If i ever find a leprechaun ill be sure to wish for orchestral music to stay the hell away from games in the future.

The leprechaun would be sure to allow it.... for you. Since you clearly can only create one style of music, the leprechaun could not clearly have you open up your mind to more ideas. He knows you're biased, why bother right?

So dont worry, the leprechaun is understanding, he knows how limited you are.

However, that being said. Mozart also worked for "the man" so he often had the same problems...AND GUESS WHAT FOLKS, HE WAS BASHED FOR IT TOO. I quote from Amadeus: "Too many notes."

Sire: theres too many notes, just cut a few and it'll be perfect :D

Friggen love that line :D

I'd have to say the score in Super mario Galaxy is one of the most unique and beautiful I have heard in a while.
Mario
Mario 2
Kingdom Hearts tune, Distracting, yet i remember loving it in the game.

I agree nathan in which you said composers think music should not be distracting in a video game is total BS.

Honestly guys, it makes no sense when composers say this. What tune do you remember mario by? Any famous game you can think of has some sort of tune that you remember it by.

No music really distracts someone from a game anyway, I think the main reason is to remove the feel of repetitiveness, so the composers make something boring and dull. I think video game music should be endless in the sense in which you can constantly listen to it and never really get bored with its content. If the composers did this, they succeeded.

That isn't "incorrect" that is a change of style to keep things interesting. It works at times. Look at the BSG soundtrack, it consists of taikos and duduk with classical elements, which most people would expect a more sci-fi synth inspired score.

Or look at Firefly (Serenity), where the score is entirely based on grass roots country, in a space setting.

The style doesn't matter. Any style can fit with any genre if done right. What matters is the content, and whether it fits the scene. You don't want some epic score where two peoplel are talking in a room (In the Name of the King did this lol)

I agree in a sense, but personally, I would have never put a song as famous as Queen "We will rock you" in a film that takes place in the middle ages. If the composer created their own songs and they put in guitars to give a rock feel, sure, i dont care about that, thats totally understandable for that type of film.

The mood did fit, thats for sure, but personally i think it took away from the movie when you saw a film that took place in the middle ages, and you heard a song by Queen played in the background. Especially when they had the people in the court actually singing and performing with the song, that just made it worse.

Btw in the name of king was a hilarious movie, my favorite part was with the fucking random ninjas lol. I died at that point.

Since there are so many great movies out there with great soundtracks, its really hard to get a sense of what a bad soundtrack sounds like.

So i figured if you guys have anything to share about a bad soundtrack you heard once in a movie, leave your post here, and i'll watch the movie just to hear how bad that soundtrack is.

Heres an example of one -

The Childrens Crusade (terrible soundtrack, im not even sure how i came about watching this movie lol. The film repeated the same "Recording" 5 times within the same movie. Besides that, it wasn't even fitting for that scene, and was just bad.)

Wow really awesome, so basically this is showing you how to make the sound, appear environmental correct?

For example, someone is talking in the right corner of the room, and you turn around and you cant hear them. Is that this?

If so, sounds great, I cant believe you found this.

Does it work for macs?

It's in the options of the Kontakt Player, or if your using Play, there's an options menu with various settings.

Under what tab exactly? Surprisingly some of the tabs Play wont even let me get in. Its like locked or something.

Looking for voice actor for POWER OF 3 EVENT! For the game -Three Pirates-
1 - Im looking for 8 different types of voices for the game. Stanley, Rufus, 3 Lieutenants, 3 sailors. Each voice should be different and unique, but the most important of all, it should have a British accent to it. If you are not British, but can perform the accent, give it a go. However not all voices need the famous British accent, it really depends on the role you are performing.

2. heres a line for each of the Characters listed. Have fun with it.

(22 yrs of age, highly intelligent engineer, has a casual british voice, but should be unique in the sense of his intelligence. Not high pitch and zany)
Stanley: Because it makes no sense! You want to go to a place that you dont even know exists, no a ship that you dont have, without a crew to sail it, to find a treasure that probably never existed, and without a shilling to pay for it all.

(44 yrs of age, appears as a pirate, but is in fact a sailor. Think of a pirate basically, but less intense)
Rufus: What are you doing here? You are not part of our crew.

(30's-late 50's, they are snobby, rich, and are one of the highest rank. Think of a rich pirate)
Lieutenant: You done trying to save your pretty little princess?

(20's - late 30's, each voice should be fun, so think of something fun, could be zany and wild, or just normal. Practice with different voices)
Sailor: You will still this ship over my dead body- UH AHHH!!!!!

3. My email is Jamal@corriegraphics.com, or you can just message me here on newgrounds.

4. I will stop accepting submissions by November 21st. I will listen to your audition, and if i like it, and your quality of microphone, I will allow you to voice act.

Thanks and good luck :D

5. Everyone will be credited at the end of the game.

Also change the memory settings too if you have a bunch of RAM, otherwise Eastwest streams from you HD, which usually a normal computer HD isn't good enough.

The crackles are probably from latecy more than anything.

Ok well firstly Im not really sure how to reset my Audio interface, or change the latency for east west to a higher number, and im figuring yes, its causing it.

However, what i find most strange, is how before I got these monitors, I had little to none latency problems. But ever since I got these monitors hooked up, the problem occurs every now and than.

I can even see the Cpu screaming. Usually it only uses 1 core at about 60-80% of its max, but so far its been using all 8 cores, and one of which is using 100%, the others are about in the 20-30% range.

I dont see it streaming from HD, so thats good.

Well, as I mentioned earlier, I got new speakers, and well, they are great.

But, when I loaded up logic to test out some of my songs, I noticed that there was a crackling sound, and almost panning sound of the instrument, while I was playing midi instruments from East West.

I further examined the issue, and the only instance in which this nuisance continued to drive itself, was only with the Midi instruments from East West!!

So im really having some trouble here. I know its not distortion from my instruments, because I tested that already, and its fine.

So any help would be great, been trying to solve this issue all day.

My old speakers seemed like the sound was all coming through a bass. Even instruments as high as a piccolo, had a bass to it ;O
