Hey NG, I just finished my first series of youtube tutorials for using FL studio. It's all about how to keep your files professionally organized. I made this series due to the fact that I have yet to see a well organized .flp from other artists.
It's really just one long tutorial but youtube requires that I break them up into 10 minute or less segments. However, you're going to want to watch from video 1 if you want the videos to make a lot of sense.
You can find the first video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qik90WblW KM
And the rest are just on my youtube profile or if your lucky in the related video frame on the right.
Feedback would be much appreciated.
Cheers!
Canada is in North America....they are American....it COUNTS
What this means is that you had the highest audio score out of 5 at the time that the day transfered over on the server. It basically means nothing because you could just vote your song up last minute and get it.

How is London? I'm looking to go to Kingston University for a semester. Are there any suburban areas close enough to the city for daily driving commutes?
even from the suburbs?

make sure to put it to 720p for increased quality
damn having two tabs open at once with different thread replies >.<
Also Happy birthday
Usually if places want to buy your license to a song then pay out the ass for it(8k+). 500 dollars would be nice to have...not to mention those 3 FL plugins and alpha testing....but for that same piece they should be offering a whole helluva lot more.

I wonder if bumps are against forum rules.....
hmmmmm....
sorry i meant to say newgrounds STORE not score which makes no sense
Technics are the way to go...I stay by them like I do Native Instruments products.
Wade told me that they are working on that frequency problem with the earths crust so maybe even sooner then 2045, maybe like 2044 or even 43.
Also the people with the most purchases in the newgrounds score get tallied first, so make sure to get a tab going on that one.

But hey, that's what I want to go to Berklee for. Then I can make a gnarly plugin that fixes that problem. But yes, I was referring to psychoacoustics. I was curious if there was some kind of trick to fix it, like throwing on a couple filters or effects that would do so.
Well the problem is in the human ear(or the brain perhaps?), not the song, so technically no there is no way to fix it. If the song is noticeably having this problem due to some huge amount of dynamics then yes you could just up the pitch a couple cents on those notes and that would fix it haha.
Are you taking a recording class? Also not that you are doing this, but just to make sure, you should look at a lot of schools. I would say schools like Berklee and Juliard are more so just famous for composition where-as schools like Hartford and Standford are probably better for engineering and design.
Personally it's always been a dream of mine to study in the CCRMA at standford, I would love a conversation with the guy there who invented FM synthesis(his name is escaping me right now)
Infinitely longer then the time you spent looking for this information.
To avoid being completely pointless and just a total butt, the answer to your questions is 1-4 weeks depending on how busy the MODs are and how many submissions needs approving.
The human ear perceives it that way yes. Psychoacoustics are almost completely a different subject from physical sound. It would make a lot more sense if pitch had anything to do with its dB level LOL. Pitch has to do with cycle speed, granted a lower cycle speed carries farther, but thats due to its length.
You might be getting some problems with phase cancellation on that 3rd oscillator. But I dont know. Save the 3xOsc settings and send it to my email and I'll take a crack at fixing it up

Collabs are just a mutual agreement to share each others projects/ideas and come up with one ultimate song. I'd say theres usually 3 stages of passing back and forth. The starter, the finisher, and the final touches(with maybe one or two pass backs for progression too).
Good things to know about the person your collaborating with:
1 - Their VST collection
2 - Their legality and obviousness of so
3 - What version of FL studio they are using
General rules for being a good person to collab with:
Rule 1 - Be patient
Rule 2 - Be open
Rule 3 - Don't use the hell out of VSTs the other person doesn't have
Rule 4 - Don't avoid working on your song/try to be consistant
No offense to the author but did you pick the winner by random??

Whenever I do something like click on on one the tracks in the mixer, or open up a generator or VST, it always opens up the folder in the browser that relates to it, like for example, it opens up the mixer preset folder everytime I click on a mixer track, and its very annoying, and i want it to stop.
I couldn't find any settings that do that so this is a totally mystery to me.
It just might be a good time for you to upgrade to v9.0.3 so that when you reinstall the default settings shouldn't do that.

He's suspending the suspense! oh no's!
If your wondering I judged as such:
kaizerwolf as 1st
djinthedark as 2nd
djsumara as 3rd
I have no idea what the other judges did though so the suspense continues!
Ok well this is clearly commercial orchestral thematic music. Learning to write commercial jingles basically just takes a great general musical knowledge and solid library of sample based stuff like EWQL, edirol, etc.
Dance encompasses probably over half the musical genres in the world sooooo IDK what to suggest.
Just cheat and look at people favorites.

Ok good to know I am blind. I will look those up in my handy FL Power book and get back to it tomorow

Ok so all these plug-ins we are talking about are in a standard format called VST. They can be used in any music making program(DAW). Native Instruments and reFX are different companies from Image-Line, that also make VST's.
Go to the Native Instruments website and look up Komplete 6 in the products section and it has a nice overview of what comes with it. Also you can find information on reFX's website about Vanguard and Nexus.

What is this feature used for?
Your quotations dont appear anywhere in FL studio from what I can find.
Can you elaborate on where you see such things please? so I know what features you are talking about

In short, i'm fairly new to "recording" (me mucking around on Fl Studio) but i have plenty of determination and i'm trying my best not to suck too badly. Anywho meh first song should be posted soon, but i'm not too confident with it. Any tips/Recommendations/ decent VSTs? Much appreciated -Muffcake
The 2 VSTS 3xOsc and Sytrus are plenty for getting started. I use them for 90% of my production. If you want better VST's then the industry standard ones are included in Komplete 6 by Native Instruments, or also Vanguard/Nexus from reFX
