Response to: FX vs Beat making... Posted December 22nd, 2010 in Audio

I meant you can do both as in you don't have to decide between the two. Especially because they are pretty much self employed type work

Except for the ones you put in tunes...LOL

Beat making is not very big

I'm going to have to disagree.

Most of the worlds R&B/rap singers, every commercial company ever, and every major radio station in world use it....not very big? its only one of the largest music production industry jobs out there...

BUT, if you can learn both, which shouldn't be hard, you won't have a problem deciding between them, They are in very similar fields of work.

Don't forget you can do both =P

Skills transfer pretty well.

sorry had to pick at your statement since I actually work in both these fields

I've run into that before, I dont know the actual reason it happens, but im pretty sure it has to do with your connection.

Suggestions that might do nothing at all because I hardly know what I'm talking about:

Reset your cache.
Restart your router.
Restart your browser or computer.
All of the above in that order.

Response to: FX vs Beat making... Posted December 22nd, 2010 in Audio

Sound effects making = Making Sound effects or audio effects which are artificially created or enhanced sounds, or sound processes used to emphasize artistic or other content of films, television shows, live performance, animation, video games, music, or other media

Beat making = slang term for producing music to be licensed. They range from percussion only pieces/loops, to full instrumental songs.

Both are made pretty similarly, using a DAW. Making 'beats' is more or less making music, so I'm not going to address how to make music. Making SFX is a matter of creativity. Usually with SFX they are combinations of synthesis and recording manipulation, namely the recording aspect for originality and practicality (think foley work)

Strange request but does anyone know where i can get some?

Legally speaking, you could email a pornography producer of some videos (I suggest someone small to ensure some kind of reply), and ask permission to use audio from his video for your game. As a good selling point, you could bargain linking his site in your flash.

Us audio guys do get adult requests like that every once in a while so it's not too strange, but given the nature of the request I can't help you personally, sorry.

I can't suggest ripping audio from pornos, but....I can't see that being a problem either. It's technically copyright, soooo yeah....doooont do it....even if worst comes to worst....*wink*

Ya know, I have something like 5 music theory textbooks, but none of them lay out forms like you just did Benjerman....now I want to try writing one in each form.

Woot inspiration!

Starting with a rondo.

TY

So it seems we have a good idea of what to do for this competition musically.

I suppose the next thing to talk about it time alloted, and judging, am i right? Ideas?

My vote goes towards starting on the 1st of january, and having to finish it before february. Easy dates to remember, plenty of composition time, great timing as college students are mostly out of school then, and anyone younger will likely have at least a week of january off as well. As for judging, there is a chance that I could get the head of the composition department at western illinois university to take a look at it. He got a masters in composition from NorthWestern University so his opinion is pretty legit. IDK where he got his doctorate in music, but he has that too haha.

Lol dont act like the conversation bothers you, you know youre interested.

Why the shit would the movie Saw end up with hundreds of millions of dollars and 4 sequels if this conversation bothered you?

My first GF had a nasty vagina as well. So definitely agreed that nasty is nasty. In my original statement I meant it was just not good, even though it was subtle tasting, it was the opposite of what turns me on smell-wise.

So glad I no longer have sexual conflictions or a slutty infected GF. Hurray progress!

Am I reading correctly that I need to use a MIDI sequencer like Finale Notepad to create a [General] MIDI file for the song?

I'm pretty he mainly wants sheet music. You can use a free sheet music writing tool like MuseScore

THE FUCK

WTF did you do surgeons?!?

Response to: Classical Composition Contest Talk Posted December 19th, 2010 in Audio

I am in favor of doing all those forms except the sonata. Didnt we agree on one movement forms? sonata would definitely be 3 or 4 movements.

And you were saying you might get them reviewed by professional composers? So having it written out in sheet music and in a certain form might be leverage for getting said reviews right? I can see that.

I am also down for an orchestral competition, since like i previously said a lot of newgrounders will have trouble with both writing sheet music out and with writing in a specific form so we wont have many contestants. Also with an orchestral comp, I can flex with my east west software =P
