I'd like to teach maths and music

You want to teach math AND music? Cuz those are totally different things. Music is namely taught by music education majors and most everything else is taught by primary or secondary education majors. Totally different majors too

Response to: Trance and Progressive House? Posted January 7th, 2011 in Audio

Most electronic genres of music are based on tempo and emphasis. Trance genres are based between 140-150BPM and House genres are based from 120-130BPM. In the case of progressive trance and progressive house you are speaking in terms of the same emphasis but at different tempos. In regards to form, structure, melody, and harmony, they are both nearly one in the same.

clubs do the same thing. its terrible. 120dB is a standard rock concert, and 126dB is permanent ear damage...

however, they make special musician ear plugs that attenuate 15dB without effecting accuracy....i suggest them to any gigging performer

two things you can do. the first and most common reason has to do with the buffer length on your audio driver. go into audio settings, and raise the buffer length, then try playback again, if that doesnt work, go back and up the buffer length more....if you start getting near the most buffer length possible setting and you still have crackling, then buffer length isnt your problem and you should lower it back to where it was when you started.

the second scenario is simply a cpu problem. there are a lot of ways to optimimze fl studio playback to not use as much cpu. i suggest looking up a guide on this. a couple of other quick things you can do to lower cpu usage is to turn off 'reset plugins on transport' in the audio settings, and to make sure you are utilizing all the multi-thread options in there as well (assuming you have a multi-core processor)

So I finished a trance song last night on FL Studio.
I opened it this morning, no instruments were playing except my snares and claps!
I had many more precussive patterns, pads, synths, and white noises. They are still on my FL Studio playlist track organizer thing. All of them are un-muted on the playlist, mixer, AND step sequencer, yet none of them are playing!

I recently downloaded some A/V codecs for getting Vegas Pro 9 to import .mp4 files properly, so could it be that I need to download more codecs for this, or what should I do?

first off, make sure you are using the ASIO4ALL driver in your audio settings. also you said they were unmuted on the mixer, so are you getting the signal and just not playback? or are you not getting either?

From what I've seen, getting baked is conducive to being nearly completely useless to do much else besides sitting and feeling good about things. You don't see a whole lot of stoners getting "Employee of the Month" for a reason.

pffft, 90% of the time there is no distinction as to whether or not a man smoke marijuana, so those employees of the month that you think arent stoners might just actually be...

from a musicians perspective i find that weed makes it hard for me to be rhythmic, but the melodies that i come up with are wonderful.

I found this out by smoking a grip before going to a big jam, and i started on the congas....but i was apperently playing off a bit, so i switched to piano and i was doing some sick ass solos playin 4s

for composition....it makes grunt work like simple automations fun...but my projects always get messy when im baked.

overall positive things for musicians, but theres negatives toooo

Does it have something to do with CPU ? Is there any way to prevent this from happening ?

Duba

yea sounds like cpu stuff

up your buffer rate, try using triple buffer option if you are using 9.7 beta. make sure you are using multithreading if your using dual core cpu or more.

I'll definitely be one of those last minute people tomorrow. Been putting a lot of work into the piece, but theres so many sections that the mixing is taking forever, so Ive had to knock it out chunk by chunk, and sure enough....the time has come and I have like 4 chunks left. Guess itll be another one of those "90% finished pieces with potential not taken" things that always happens to me in competitions
