They have pattern selector which is hotkeyed to the side mouse button. Its more of a graphic representation and its damn fast. Beside that, You can also lock patterns to a track so that you dont have to select it on that track anymore after the first time.
Regardless, you are talking about saving maybe a couple seconds of a many multiple hour process.

Yup, they just released the android app.
Now I can fuckin compose with FL at work while I sell hard copies of FL to people, then come home to open FL shit in the real FL.
FL 24/7 baby yeahhh!
Is seriously nobody excited that FL is gonna be universal soon? I mean they are already beta testing the mac version, and they released deckadance 2 as a working universal program like last week.....but people have been saying that shit will never happen for like 10 years....since its inception really.

Yes.
Also
FL Mobile for android will be awesome and soon.
FL 64bit soon after 11 if not with 11
FL for apple OS unknown but not as far as most think.
Yo dawg the T-Pain effect just went down to 50 bucks man.
Thats like a million bucks right there, G
I dont do live shows or DJing very often but I do buy and sell DJ gear 40 hours a week and lemme just be the first to say: DJs hate change unless its just a more shiny version of what they are already used to.
Like why people use CDJs anymore is completely beyond me. Software-wise people are equally ignorant. Everyone is obsessed with Serato....which has shitty effects, no vst support, and no sample deck ability, VDJ and Traktor both have better features but people run around saying they suck and serato rocks.
Truth be told...all 3 of em suck. This version of Deckadance is easily a better buy. Smart knobs, sample deck, and vst support isnt even all that hard to get, and yet serato and native instruments cant seem to figure it out haha.
Huzzah Image-line!
P,S. The new Behringer controllers are shipping with Deckadance so maybe people wont bag on it like they do with FL.
detective you tell me gun do thins and i dun RUNnin.
Some small additions:
Yamaha HS80M - Speakers (minor upgrade from M-Audio BX5A's)
Furman PL-Plus C - Power Conditioner (upgrade from random ass surge protector)
The furman might be a bit overkill model for this set up, but I get it on the cheap and it will sit well on the top of my future rack.
Got more gear coming nxt week too. Wewt!
Apogee Duet and Quartet both work for ipad now. Both legit audio interfaces.

I've been using my pad controller for its knobs and havn't tried to use the actual pads yet because there's some timing issues between the controller and FL (probably a midi issue as a whole)
You are talking about quantizing. Its quite common. Select the notes in the piano roll, open up the tools in the piano roll, and select quantize. You can find details of how to use it in the manual or on youtube or something.
You can also use the hotkeys ctrl-A to select all and alt-Q to quantize. Good combo to know.

I find it hard to define exactly how someone should go about it or what knowledge to start off trying to learn. Kudos for the post, but I think it should be more relevant to what he is currently doing, and what interests him most. Figure out the knowledge behind what hes already doing first, starting with whatever is the most interesting.
Example:
Perhaps Sytrus is being used with a preset as a main melody. So what is sytrus? Learn the ins and outs of that. Realize along the way that its known more broadly as a synthesizer, then more specifically FM synthesis, etc, etc....it keeps branching out.
Find interesting things, and apply them..... have fun with them so you can easily learn them inside and out instead of feeling like you have homework to do.
The hope is that with time, you will naturally find yourself having the background knowledge of everything youre doing, and it can always build.

I thought you were gonna be mentioned for something musical.
What a random ass mention haha
If you are using PLAY. You want to try and maximize individual core power. Play has problems with multithreading.
So yeah...intel...overclocked...best option until somebody more nerdy then me comes up with a counter.

I'm sorry I really cannot go without saying that this is complete malarchy. A DAW does not define ones mixing abilities. FL can use any VST just like the others you mentioned and audio in FL can be routed any which way one likes to.
@OP:
Besides practice time and experimentation, the thing thats going to help you most is core audio knowledge. I recommend getting yourself a nice mixing book (Mixing Engineers Handbook, Art of Mixing, and Mixing with your Mind to name a few).
Online can also be a great place to start if buying books isnt an option. There are great articles and videos explaining different effects, and different core knowledge concepts, as well as specifics to FL Studio to help you along the way. You just have to put some effort into searching this stuff, and the more you find out, the more specific you can be in these searches and the more results will pop up.
Ultimately though don't forget to just have fun and experiment and make lots of music. Time put into application turns the best results....we use the core knowledge and theory only to fix, sweeten, and give both purpose and direction to our actions....but not define them entirely.
Best of luck.

Anyone seen this program before? It fascinates me, yet this kind of meticulous work is beyond my comprehension. Just thought it would be a neat share...
FL has a "patcher" for doing graphical signal chains and NI Reaktor allows you to build FX and Synths and what not from the ground up with the same concept. Nothing new, just different. Still cool though!
Intel fo sho. You can overclock em more.
Lots of TLDRs in here. My god.
I mean....if youre old enough you could smoke some weed. More musicians do that for inspiration then would admit.
Awesome thread idea. Finally I can whore my knowledge in sound design.
FUCKED UP IR
Y'all should try it. Instead of using a real impulse response for your convolution reverb, try throwing something wacky as hell in there.....like a swoosh sound or the sound of you banging a pot ontop of your head. Whatever the fuck you want.
Oh, and heres some stuff on getting creative with reverb on a website that you should all be following.
If the whole Disney thing isnt a late blooming april 1st troll....im gonna pissed.
Somebody should get Zircon to confirm this.....I dont know if he was still working for lucasarts or not.
Hash and Video Games will be the theme of my tonight.
Be jelly.
Who gives a fuck. Nobody thanked us the thousands of times we "approved" people to be musicians here. Being scouted is no different. It just means somebody out there doesnt hate your music. If they really thought you did something worth anything theyd review the audio and that would be worth much more.

Thanks again for your help Breed!
You know if youre in the USA I can actually sell you the products too. I'm an audio guy at guitar center
I could maybe work you up a little newgrounds discount

Yeah it definitely is. I only mentioned the S4 because thats the item that saw a recent price drop. The S2 is still solid and comes with the full version of traktor.
You should consider saving your extra pennis for an S4 or NS6. Those prices both just went down 100 bucks.Would you recommend either of these to someone just starting out? These will last me a long time and stay 'top-of-the-line' for a few years, right?
Its not even 'top of the line' right now to be honest. But both those controllers will give you the same feature set as a top of the line model just without the build quality....so if you keep your gear in good shape they could definitely last a LONG time. You won't run out of features anytime soon with them....thats for sure.
Also, you should consider using traktor instead of serato. There's more fun and creative things you can do in traktor and its cheaper for a full version.I will definitely look into it. I just assumed they'd all be like DAWs; pretty much all the same but with different reputations.
They arent at that point yet. DJ software cant even open VST effects yet let alone all the other crazy stuff thats possible. In fact, a lot of people are running both their DJ software and either FL, Ableton, or Maschine at the same time so that they can make use of better performance and effects tools.
Serato and Virtual DJ are cool in that they can also do video, but Traktor has the remix decks which allows you to load a bank of samples and play them individually, as well as a number of other cool tricks and stuff. Traktor also has tons and tons of tuts on the web and serato videos are a bit sparse in comparison.
Denon makes pretty solid gear. Numark stuff is backed by basically no warranty and is mostly cheap material. The only exception with Numark is the NS7 and now NS7 II but those are pretty pricey. Also, getting the old mixtrack pro like you linked would be really silly. Those items individually arent even as much as that bundle costs....seems like a rip off to me. The new mixtrack pro ii goes for the same price if not lower and has akai pads built right into it....so definitely DONT get that bundle you linked....just get the new mixtrack.
So all in all, the numark is a better buy then the denon as for features vs price, but the denon will last you longer....
Personally though, I wouldnt buy any of those controllers. Most of the smarter buys right now are in the 500-700 dollar range. You should consider saving your extra pennis for an S4 or NS6. Those prices both just went down 100 bucks.
Also, you should consider using traktor instead of serato. There's more fun and creative things you can do in traktor and its cheaper for a full version.
Ive never been able to wet my bed. i tried to do it for like 12 or so years but i just never could. i did however succesfully urinate in the corner of somebodies carpeted room. booya!
