the mackie universal and behringer bcf2000 are cool cuz they are both supported by imageline and have motorized faders, but its not per se the best set up.
i for one think the novation slmk2 has more use. mainly just because the tops of each fader and knob are touch sensitive and will give you a readout without having to move the fader.
same goes for the mpk which has a 'preview' button. with the bcf you may get some unwanted fader jumpiness(like everytime you want to record a new automation or want to change any value after a new window focus).
They released it in the middle of the night last night.
woot!
This audio portal is for publishing creative commons licensed music.
If you are looking to make money off a song, newgrounds isnt the place to post. This site is more for sharing, learning, and being a community.
If you want a streaming website soundcloud is probably the most popular. If you are looking to license music individually then audiojungle is the way to go.

Actually you're better off waiting for them to slice the price in half just before komplete 10 arrives.
This. Komplete 8 went down to 300 bucks just before 9 came out.
@step - I sell the shit so I'll let you know when that happens with 9. Its still worth the 500 bucks though if youre too excited to wait almost a year for 200 dollar savings.
Trillian and EW Pianos arent exactly worth it unless you plan on making rather specific songs featuring those instruments. Also, I coulda sworn you already had EW orchestra....but hell yeah its worth it if you dont have that.
Other software thats worth it right now you might consider:
Izotope Ozone 5 - mastering suite
Sound Toys native effects - mixing effects suite
If you are wanting to wait and these 2 effects suites dont fit your fancy, then a MIDI keyboard is probably the way to go. Here are my respective suggestions for that:
If you arent a keyboard player and want something small - Novation SLMKII 49 key controller
If you are a pianist or care about having actual piano action for better playing control - Akai MPK88
Those who cause a problem rarely read the solution.
Especially beforehand.

They dont want you to buy just one thing. Thats why. They make it silly to buy anything except everything. It's both smart and retarded.
On a completely unrelated note, I have turned into a complete audio asshole. When did that happen?
At 4/22/13 08:47 PM, seltekkodes wrote: I got nothing but time man... im not looking for snide remarks, just tips.
Experimenting with the software and following youtube tutorials is the best way to start until you build up enough of a vocabulary to ask the right questions and gather the relevant learning material. The reason I'm being snide is because you asked a really silly question. You might as well have asked "how do I make music?" in a thread that is more so geared towards technical problems in FL studio.
That said, besides learning the program more (which you obviously dont know like you said you did), the process of creating a "beat" (which im guessing you mean producing a song) is going to require audio core knowledge. Start by learning the science behind every knob you turn(google and youtube will be your best friend), then move on to core concepts of use from literature such as the "Mixing Engineers Handbook" or even simpler "Computer Music for Dummies."
Once you get to that point you'll know where you need to go or learn from there.
Most importantly, just experiment and make stuff. Figure it out on your own until you are more comfortable with it, then start studying it via internet/books.
That is unless you arent serious about this at all, which 99% of guys comin in saying "how do i make beats yo?" are not.

ALSO re: PEQ2, i tried putting it on the master bus before sonalksis freeG (basic gain/balance plug with a text readout of peak/RMS levels, goes to 2 decimal places). played a few test tones and loops but the readout never changed at all when i muted/unmuted PEQ2 or even if i removed it outright and replaced it. maybe freeG is less basic than i thought?
Nah, I got the same thing just now actually. No dB change what so ever. But fact still remains that minute phasing is likely occurring.
@LiquidBooze - Are you sure the main gain knob on the EQ is at 0db?
The argument is stupid. Knowledge is knowledge, and you can use it or not use it however the fuck you want.

Its also free and quick to upgrade so it seems kinda silly to debate whether or not the update is worth it. Free is always worth it =)
FL Studio has LIFETIME free upgrades if you own a copy. You can just login to their website and download the latest version. I dont even think you need to DL a new registry code either.
More new shtuff. Getting some fricken wonderful recordings.
Mic: AKG C214 (same diaphragm as 414)

8dio made a dubstep sampler...
fricken weird
I think, as someone only working on their second project, that you should probably lower the bar on the sheer amount of original audio content you are asking for. For me as a regular working composer/sound designer that would take about a month of full time work (40+ hours a week).
Unless you're being modest and your budget is at least over 1000USD. If thats the case then you can probably can reach out to the people who can produce so much content and you can probably afford most of the lower tier audio guys.
Let me just say, that if you kept the same budget, but hired a higher quality composer/sound designer to do about half of what you're asking for, you'd probably get a much overall higher quality soundtrack in your game.
Best of luck mate.

At 4/15/13 09:30 PM, jpbear wrote: can anyone here get patcher running moderately stable?
How much stuff are you running? I've never had it crash it on or be unstable but the most I've ever used is like 5-6 modules maximum.
The problem arose when they found out the design of patcher takes up a lot more CPU then direct loading the modules. They did a work around in 10.10 to get it running faster, but it made it more unstable. They suggest reporting (in a lot more detail then you just gave us) all instabilities on their forum.
At 4/20/13 11:35 AM, LiquidOoze wrote: Small question: why does my peak meter go up 0.5-1 dB when I put a Parametric EQ2 on the master bus without twisting a single knob?
PEQ2 is not phase linear. You are getting phasing even running it with nothing on it. People have mentioned it quite a bit before, but trust me in knowing that it is near the realm of negligible destruction. It is part of that EQs "color" if you will.
Most EQs will have a similar effect, especially analog ones. In any case, why do you need a blank EQ on the master buss? The only reason to have a blank EQ is if youre just using the main gain knob on it as an additional volume control for that buss. If thats what youre after, then I suggest using PEQ1 because its more transparent.
Was gonna remix endless handbag into neurofunk. Looks like I didnt have the time to complete it for the competition here.

Behringer is terrible
You can't just call a company terrible unless literally everything they make sucks. Behringer is good at a lot of shit you are clearly overlooking.
Pricepoint, build quality, and power are 3 things behringer does quite well compared to others.
Things they dont do well? Software, and speaker drivers. Their pres used to be bad, but then they bought out midas and now they use their pres without even changing the price. They make pretty much THE BEST faders, knobs, buttons, etc....for mixers/consoles.
I could go on, my only point is that these new controllers (which honestly look nifty as fuck), ship with deckadance....which means retailers will carry deckadance (it wont just be an underground/underdog to serato/traktor/vdj).

I Forgot when they implemented it. But I think it was in 10 when they first took the blocks away.
All I have to do is right click a track on the left of the playlist and select lock to content.
