Thank you all for your replies. In reply to some specific posts:

RyanKajito: Yep. Muahahaha. Actually, I imagined it as there being a radar picking up on the problem and sending someone to go fix it, so that may comfort you.

test-object: The pipe in their ass is for excrement. And unfortunately, I couldn't help that pipe being in the opposite direction, unless I were to create like, a custom pipe, which in retrospect maybe I should have created, but nevermind.

Lennaerd: I was expecting some negative replies. Thanks for your honesty. I suspect I might have to get used to replies like that so it's good to start small.

Yes, that was a title to attract views. The babies being raped by tubes theory is one interpretation but not the widely accepted one.

This piece is actually about the subject of human storage. The tubes are there to supply air and food for them. I want to hear what people's thoughts are about it. It's a collage, 54x42 cm in size, 94 pieces of paper cut and stuck one by one.

I'm going to display this in my high school pretty soon and I want to get a general idea what people's reactions to it might be. Post any reaction you may have, even if it's a one word reaction. That would be appreciated. Thank you.

A man in a bee suit and a man in an ant suit waiting at the bus stop.

One thing I'm concerned about is how obvious (or not obvious) the ant suit is an ant suit and not something else. You could help by telling me.

Other than that any suggestions for improvement regarding coloring and shading would be great. Please note that the background is not important, it's the characters which I hope I will use in a canvas piece.

Thanks.

It's a he. That's not his mustache, they're his eyebrows. Look closely, he's got eyes underneath them somewhere.

I made them by printing them onto sticker paper and then cutting them out.

Colors and shading is good for the style you're drawing. I like more detail but that's just me .

And as for the animating, what program did you use to draw that? You could use flash to animate him... But I guess you already knew that :P

I'll draw a backgrounds eventually.

I used Flash to draw it. I have some basic knowledge on animating simpler stuff, but not human characters.

Hi guys.

I haven't drawn anything in a really long time so I'm very eager to get critique on my latest drawing. The stuff that I'm most concerned about are the colors, shading and style. A few words on each those subjects would be nice.

Also, I'd be glad if someone laid down the theoretical foundations for me of how I would go about animating him, because I have no idea where to start. That would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Topic: Right of Passage & Maturing Novels

Posted: 03/19/07 08:15 AM

Forum: General

In school I'm doing a writing a creative project on a novel (and a movie) of my choice, and the subject of it has to be maturing, growing up or a right of passage. What I'll do is go to every forum I know and ask for recommendations, then I'll compose a list of novels which have been recommended to me, check each one out and pick the one I like best.

What I need you to do is recommend good novels which you've read or heard that they're good about the subject. By the way, you may also recommend plays, novellas and short stories.

Thanks for your help.

That's easy. Right click the layer with the text in it and select Blending Options, then within the dialogue select stroke. There you can edit the color and thickness of the outline.

I suggest you get to know all of the other blending options other than the stroke, beacuse those are really basic stuff that you should know.

Topic: Quick Question - Lines

Posted: 01/03/07 07:30 AM

Forum: Flash

Is there a way to line everything that's selected? Let's say I write a few sentences in Flash and break it down into vector; is there a way to select the entire text, press one button and line all of the letters? I did it once by accident, but I can't figure out how I did it. It may have been with the ink bottle tool. Your help is appreciated.

Ok, so you beleive young teenage girls are into grey?
I think you need to stay at the drawing board for a little longer.

It may be gray, but it's so vibrant and colorful-looking. Far from melancholic.

At 1/2/07 09:50 AM, EternalDescent wrote: I think its a decent design, has its own style about it, and rather than being some cutesy colourful rainbow type graphic, the monochrome effect gives it a fairly unusual feel. Im not sure about it appealing to teen girls though, they'd probably go for the 'cutesy colourful rainbow' rather than the '8-bit monochrome artsy rainbow' personally, i wouldnt change it! Keep up the good work.

You may be right, but you have to keep in mind the group of teenage girls who want to be different. They go for those type of stuff, the cutesy-yet-dark stuff. Don't you think?

Colour it.
Take away the dots.
Change the whole design.
A rainbow, cinnamon rolls and candy canes put together like a face is a shit idea.

Opinion, opinion though.

Color it and take away the dots are two things I would never dream of doing. The whole design is built around the dot technique, and coloring it would make it lose all of the shading effects.

I see what you're saying, I personaly would laugh at them too. You have to remember we're not the target audience. Still, I can definately see certain people liking it.

and Candy Canes.

I worked on this design all day long (this is for you, the person who told me I should spend more than 15 minutes on my artwork) and I wanted to share it with you guys. Comment and critique, and for fun try and name the creature.

Also, I've been thinking for some time now about going into the printing business, as in printing on T-shirts, hand bags etc. This is my first design which I think is worthy for that. Tell me your honest opinion, even if it's harsh, do you think this design is worthy to print on T shirts or hand bags and sell? By selling I mean on the small scale, like to friends or people from my school. The target audience would be young/teenage girls in my opinion. I appreciate and encourage any comments or critiques.

You'll have to group the entire scene with all of it's layers into one graphic, then use the shape tween + alpha combo.

If you need more specific instructions, mail me and I'll be glad to help.
