As for medals, yeah with your stuff included in the collab the standard of animation and humour is high enough. All i need to do now is learn how to make buttons in AS3 (FUCK YOU ADOBE!) and i'll compile some animations along with the menu, and send them to Tom Fulp to see if he gives us the go ahead for medals.

Well..let's say i managed to reconstruct the menu. However, due to the possibility of medals, i'm tryinf out AS3...and i dont know how to use it propperly for now :P So, for now, here's some animated menu stuff :)

Don, and all you other guys, what actionscrypt are we using? I just realised all my animations are as2 but i dont think it'd be a problem for me to convert them manually to as3 unless it doesnt make a difference between versions. I also almost lost the menu when i re-installed cs3 as flashCS4's annoying and complicates life rather than continues to simplify.

However, i imported the artwork from the swf i had before and re-built it. Before i start actionscripting i wanted to see which version we're going to use as if i'm not mistaken we need as3 for medals.

I dont want to be annoying, but please reply ASAP so i can continue the menu.

Lookin' good man! Even without the sound it's funny :P One sugestion, on the dark colourd one's face, there are still a few sections with the colour of the original white guardsmen, i'd just fill those up a bit to keep the whole thing neat :) But apart from that, very funny :)

Well boys, my exams ARE FINALY OVER!!

So...yeah...i'll work harder to finish up all my stuff, menu and anything else you'd need help in :)
I also got Flash CS4, which has a few sexi stuff like the '3d' and so on...might use this stuff for the credits. I'm also learning how to use fruity loops, even though i dont think we'll be needing any more music, but if you want me to come up with some unique theme for the collab or anything, i might give it a shot.

Flashbound has already posted about 4 brilliant peaces, two of which are on the signs of war style. If you look a bit back onto the thread you'll find the links to some of them as there was a time when SpamTheWeb cleared up some stuff.

As for the menu, i'll repost the image to clarify what'll be there. The buttons will be on the rock-stuff, i came up with the idea as it's something relatively new (never seen before) and ties in with the 'battlefield scenes' from the collab.

PLAY - obviously, plays the entire collaboration
BIOS - will contain all the author biographies - i think flashbound a forbid still have to give some guidlines on what to include in this paragraph for each
FALLEN - mentioning of the people who attempted to take part in the collab but stopped due to something cropping up or going onto a galactic crucade and never returning (some humour, no offense intended :P)
SCENE SELECT - a page with all the scene so one may jump to different scenes
MEDALS - the medals one may hopefully get by finding eastereggs etc

If any of you've got any more ideas for the menu, please do post and we can all take them into consideration. I'll continue working on it tomorrow, as my a levels will be over!! :D

PS. For those who read GabiDLG's posts, it was a simple joke to try and get you guys posting a little more - you know, we all like girls :P My mistake in the medals was asking Tom Fulp to allow us to use medals, but pm'd him from the 'fake' account if you like. I hope we'll be able to include medals as it'll be fun both for us and for the viewers to get more points :)

One may simply move back to page 28 and read the 2nd post on the page. There's also an image which is the concept on which i'd be working :) I dont think Flashbound's menu's still uploaded on spam the web, and the ps thing isnt too great, quite bland if you ask me.

Once we're discussing menus and stuff (please flashbound18, may you reply to my questions or pm me? thanks :] ) we may note that the play station collab, even though having a relatively ok intro, has go absoultely nothing to do with play stations. At least, thats what i think. It is also why i tried to come up with the concept to tie in the menu with the actual collaboration, making it feel unique and united at the same time :)

It's ok man, I accept the appology and appologise for bursting out (i also got a pm from another guy trying to calm me down, so i'm also a bit to blame :P)

All i wanted to do was express my feelings on the way the collab was going till yesterday. Not having a leader who's there to tell us if it's good or not is a VERY big minus to a collab. It happened more than once, for instance when i was designing a website. The main guy didnt contribute for a good month or so, i was working individually. He then came and bashed all the work i had done cos he didnt like it, and i felt the same today.

Though, once we cleared that - it's great to have you back again :P As for your animations, it's up to you what to keep or not but i consider them to be the best contributions to the collab. I'm seriously saying this and not just flattering. The only joke i didnt get immediately was the 1st 'someone's compensating' animaton when it took me about 5 loops to get the joke - but that might be me being slow :p I honestly dont see why you degrade your animations in that way, though, it's up to you cos you're the leader.

Now, please, i'd just like to know if:

a) I should continue the menu? I didnt progress much since i posted the image (have 3 exams this week but then i'll be done so i'll have time to complete it, Action Script and all) but if you dont like the idea, think we should keep yours or come up with a totally new idea, please tell me so i'll continue working on my other parts

b) Do you like the song i made? And the animation? Should i stop animating it, continue and add the credist aswell?

c) If i continue the credits as part of the 'i kissed a spawn', what shall the content be? As in, order of appearence, etc.

d) How many parts do we have? And how many collaborators are still animating? We've seen quite a lot of ppl come and go, so i think we might need a list of ppl who are still in so they'll finish off their animations so we can start wrapping the whole thing up.

e) Are all the animations up to standard? And this goes to all the flash artists i think. If it were me in the place of the collab-leader, i'd check all the animations and suggest/criticise any things that can be fixed. After all, you're the only one that got a front-page-worthy-animation, so you're good at it :P (this is meerely a suggestion, just to help wrap up things nicely and avoid lost of problems and more delays [yes, one of them was my fault, so i apologise again])

First of all, Flashbound, my comment (which i shouldnt have posted i assume) was simply criticising your menu. It's not the 1st time i get a 'yes, change the chinese's head' 'oh bobmlu, the tau look crap, re-draw them like i did here look'. Did i ever burst out? Not at all. In fact, i believe one of the main benefits of a collab is criticising, giving opinions and helping out others to manage to achieve a high score once it's out.

I tried to keep my self nice with all you guys here, cos i think it's the best way to work with ppl. But man, for the love of GOD, i think we should all stop acting like pussies (maybe me included).

I've been saying that i'll be making the credits so that i'll ease out the work for YOU as you'll need to pile up everything etc. I wrote and sang a song and started animating it, without even getting any comments from you. What next, i get told to fuck myself. Dunno, maybe my flash are crap cos that's all i can come up with to be honest.

Unless you havent noticed, i kept contributing to the collab. I think i've got the highest number of parts (apart from you, flashbound, as i dont want to throw in a number and miss out one animation). I believe it's the thanks i get for dediating more time to a collaboration than to going out with my GF or actually studying for my a levels.

Oh, you were talking about bashing animations. I spent a whole evening making a pre-loader the 'newgrounds style'. Next morning you come up with 'nah-not good, i'll make it myself'.

It's usless pm'ing me with 'how much respect i showed and it's the 1st time someone was that concerned on newgrounds' when you come 2 months later acting like the world's going to end cos of a menu screen. It's true, i might be too soft/kind/what-ever to ppl to avoid arguments, and, always end up bursting into flames by the end of it.

Maybe newgrounds isnt a place for me? I am starting to believe so. Just when i tought i found a community of decent people with good ideas, a good aim and amazingly good skills (yes flashbound, the only fucking reason i enterd this collab was 'honour' if you may call it i felt of working alongside the guy that made the best warhammer cartoon i had ever seen).

As for putting off your animations, i'm being honest. Don't be stupid. I admit the humour is FAR better than mine, and far better than other ppl's aswell. As far as i'm concernd, i'm simply a pawn in this collab which works too much for the sake of his hobby and actually had fun getting to know new animators.

To end it all, Flash, you're the leader. You can keep your menu, you can make another one, and you can pay a pro to do it. The final decisions are always yours. I just tend to get carried away when something seems to be turning out great.

Well, i hope you understand that what forbid (and myself aswell for a bit :P) has done was simply to keep the collab alive. When it comes to the menu, yes, i'm being completely honest - it's crap compared to the top-notch animations you made. I tried to refrain from speaking my mind but, there are some thing that rly make the collab look amateur. It lacks any form of originality and looks quite bland. I took the trouble of beginning to make one cos forbid gave me the go ahead.

How bout you make a menu thats like the game you know the one where the options fall upon each other and the options are in highly decorated rectangles and each rectangle can have a theme of a race on it eg marines,chaos,eldar,etc...

Also the transition can be like a chain pulling up all the menus after selecting an option.

Yes in fact it was my initial idea for a menu. It would be quite nice in fact but, being that we want to make this stand out from the crowd, we had to come up with a slightly more clever idea. Forbid initially wanted the menu to be in some form of dark codex (book) though, apart from it not looking toooooo right, it's been done more than once (one instance being the LOTR:Extended dvd set) so, i tought of putting the buttons on the broken rocks in the ground and they seem to be ok for now :)

Well, one may simply look at the menu and the buttons and see there's a BIOS page. Therefore, being that the collab has to be of a very high standard, we will all appear on the menu and also in the BIOS PAGE which is why it's called a BIOS page because the ppl who go onto the BIOS PAGE of all the different artists will read the artist BIO.

I also asked for a picture of your faces to hopefully re-draw them and place them in the characters in the menu, to look like you. I still haven't decided if I'll use the same pics from the menu for the bios, or if we should use your avatar or one of your characters.

To clear the idea out, and it was also made in the previous menu by flashbound who still seems to be in some galactic battle out of range for contact with planet earth, the BIOS page will be about the authors who contributed. The FALLEN page will mention the guys that fell out from the collab, which was quite a good idea from flashbound the galactic crusader, to give some credit to those who tried to complete a clip for the collaboration. The MEDALS page will show the medals each viewer has achieved (Still need to work that out for the coding, will contact Mr.Fulp once it's all complete and we'll do the ActionScripting then), the SCENE SELECT page - one of the most innovative and unknown ideas in flash collabs - will link to a page with all the parts (i will do this once we've got all the animations, not throwing 24 boxes for the simple reason that it looks good, i'll work out their placement according to the no. of animations) and finally, the PLAY button - obviously - restarts your computer.

I had to write one of my longest posts here but, even though i never contributed to a collab, i think we're in the stage where 60% of what we're doing is one big mess. People come and go - and that's out of our control - but ppl who simply seem to object without coming up with a considerably reasonable explanation for why they bashed someone's idea is simply idiotic.

Jokes apart, here's the work in progress for the menu screen. I'm trying to make it as dynamic as possible to push the quality limit to it's highest. We'll be the space marines, eldar, imperial guard etc in the middle. Thats why i need your faces so i can draw something which looks like you. Any form of input to the creation of the menu is greatly appreciated (for instance, forbid animated a meteore which i will make into a possible meteor shower in the background)

As for Forbid's ideas, i dont mind them :) After all, you're the vice/leader so it's up to you. As i had stated in the beginning, i tought the menu could have been done better but it was just a personal opinion. We've seen far worse, it's just nothing uber-super-spectacular, a simple menu which get's to the point. However, after all this work, i think we need to do MUCH more than get to the point - but impress the viewers - this i tried to do by singing a song myself to hopefully increase the hype.

Anyway, it's the the big-guy's hands and i dont seem to find any main objection in both of your ideas :)

Well Mr.Battosai810, you've got quite a lot of animations there so once you're not too far away from getting some money i dont blame you for asking/wanting ads. If someone could ask tom or some higher ranked guy to give a rough estimate on how much money we'll get, one may consider including ads in the flash, though as always, it's up to the collaborators :)

As for our idea with medals in a flash animation, it has just been done in the Street Fighter Collab, so i think it's more than possible/acceptable to make ours with medals. We'll undoubtedly increase views \thus poularity after all the work we've done :)
