Well....we've all got our different ideas on the next collab's duration. I dont think it'll take a shorter time, but the proces would then again look faster. A good thing to not is that, in the past year, we did get better in our animation skills, with a lot of ppl from this collab getting awards and front page stuff. We also got to know that (me in particular) many layers are a big NO in collabs. And all that stuff. The next collab, which is being planned atm, will be a serious one so the art would have to change, the ammount of fbf or v.decent tweens etc... lot's of stuff to be planned - i'll make a new thread once we release this monster.

AND YES WE'LL GET FRONT PAGE - with all the shit that's going on the front page nowadays (collab wise) and the dedication we've shown towards it (lol trojen's been inactive for ages....dedication)

As i said, probably it'll be a seriosu fantasy one. We'll post a link to the new forum once it's up - you'll get to know all the rules etc. from there.

You 40k collab guys will get 1st preference however, we'll still make auditions which may last a bit, and then make the final decision. Though things may change. For now let's focus on the 40K one ;)

I'm working on the oprimizing, but i never tought i needed to make flash with few frames - so there's a lot of stuff to do. I finish at 12 tomorrow - will try finish all the stuff off. Promise.

Oh, and if you're tempted to enter the fantasy collab, expect it to be a very long process - it's complicated :P

Yus, a warhammer collab - though it's still a vague idea - and there's still a lot of thinking to be made before it even get's announced. But we'll tell you guys about it dw. Just one thing, if i'll be incharge (in general) there'd be some strict rules to follow concerning the storyline... more on that later ;p

Dont know if flashbound has an idea or anything, but some time ago i mentioned this idea forbid and i were developing, though it'd be warhammer fantasy based, and not your average collab. I still havent discussed this idea with flashbound though and if he'd like to cooperate or so, etc. More on that later i think, they're still working on the 40k one ;p

You see...

We're so goo we inspired GW to make a movie entitled Ultramarine (i'm not joking - this is damn serious)

I dont like the idea - always space marines....and ALWAYS ULTRAmarines....(apart from dow)

that or FlashBound has them, either way, I believe all the info is in this thread somewhere.

Ya ya - they're done :) all i need is the song list, it's just text so it wont take long to fix :) Still have the FLA and stuff, will do them myself if you want ;)

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted September 26th, 2009 in Game Development

Madness stuff's almost over - and in a month's time i'd be the Halloween thingy...so i will ask the question myself :P Any vague date when the whole thing will be complete? Has everyone sent all the important info to the big guys (songs used mainly?) for the credits? I sent the credit fla to forbid cos he was online 1st, all he needs to do i alter the dummy text in the credit song stuff.

FatKid, i didnt recieve any voice acting stuff till now. Are you still in?

Which transition scene are we using?
Kidding there :P

Apart from that, i think we're in the 95% complete stage, right? :P

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted September 22nd, 2009 in Game Development

Chill - there's a week or two with madness stuff being the highlight of the newgrounds thing. It'd be folly to post it for now.

+, i can say that compiling a trailer's a pain - let alone debugging and compiling a full collab ;p

Look at it this way, we're going to RAPE THE FRONT PAGE so it's worth the wait (y) :P

Nothing definitive...just estimated.

I'm not in charge of the final compiling but i'll throw you a 3rd week of september completion. Now release, remember end of september's madness time. It'd be folly to post it on the 21st of september or sometime before or after that date. If it were my decision, i'll go for something like 4th October or so.

As for PM'ing eachother that the collab's out, i cant think of a stupider request.
You get co-authored (if the part gets int), there's this forum and the main page.

just a thot

So, some things i'd like to say.

Yes, a warhammer fantasy one's in the 'works' (discussing stage, though i didnt talk to flashbound yet. However, i have an idea which would change things a little [number of contestants and why they get in - we have a general idea of all you guys here when it comes to dedication and stuff towards the collab, the way it'll be split in parts, etc] - more on that later, once the 40k one's out.

Secondly, i think the collab compiling and stuff's almost done. Shouldnt be too long till it's out.

I will not rant or anything, but i might have misunderstood your comment and rating on the trailer, or some infants never grow up. Anyway, it's newgrounds, nothing new to see.

Eliminate the Xenos! / Destroy the alien infestation!!

*could you do this in an alien/robot kind voice? :P For the tau animation*
Tee-hee-hehe...the idiots (or something on those lines, i like spontanious stuff ;)

Also, if you need some ideas of what else you could use me for, then I could always make some extra background noises like people dying, screaming, breathing, e.t.c. I could also voice in the main title. I dont know if I can say the title of the movie as epic as it should be said, because I am not that great at the whole heroic sounding voice, but I could give it a shot.

Just tell me whatever yah need and i will do my best to help out! I know I wont be co-authored, since all i am doing is saying some crap into a microphone, but hey thats no problem at all as long as I get credited somewhere in the flash.

If you're seriously charging $500 then this isnt the place for you, believe me. If not, yes you'll be co-authored. Wait till flashbound18 of forbidmetal give you the full go ahead though. When they do so, there's some stuff i need ;p

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted September 5th, 2009 in Game Development

Okok lets not go running with what i've said - i hope i wasnt misinterpreted. FatKid, i said i'd pass on your offer to the other leaders and see what they think. Seeing that only Pawn007 voice acted, and we wanted a fresh voice, i tought FatKid was a Godsend. It's all in the hands of Flashbound, but, if you want to contribute a bit try this out.
Record and angry voiced yet determined 'Exliminate the Xenos!'(this will be said during battle by a space marine commander - not longer than 5secons long). Simply cos i'm still optimizing my part so it wont be a problem to spaw the audio by Pawn with yours (if it's good enough). We'll take it from there m'kay? ;p

As for the collab title, i always liked 'The Grim Darkness of the Future' but that might be a little too long. Having it striaght and plain, The 40K Collab, would just get the message and they'd focus on the cartoon, rather than the title.

You expected it to go worse or better? :P Well, now we know there are quiet a few ppl that like the concept and love the animation. I'm keeping the reviews at the back of my mind for the whole final montage, they liked the blood splatter effect it seems, it's just an image so we can use something like that as an overall filter? It's an opinion and i personally dont agree with it, but who knows, we might come up with a nice idea.
Infact i got one now, they cant toggle the 'grittyness mode' when seeing the animation, for the pussies who think 40k's only about serious stuff :P

Also Flashbound, i was PM'd by games workshop themselves, congratulating us on making an awsome animation and are considering giving away the full product on a mini dvd with next march's white dwarf!!
Taking the piss there. But, i was pm'd by a certain 'FatKidWitAJetPak' who'd like to do some voice acting. I told him i'll pass on the message to the other collab organizers, he might help us in bringing a fresh voice to the collab to accompany Pawn007's awsome work already used :D Though i still havent heard anything from this guy. So, Mr.FatKidWitAJetPak, if you're reading this voice act some stuff and post them here :)

40K COLLAB TRAILER is here!!!

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted September 2nd, 2009 in Game Development

Ok, i broke a record, i managed to finsh off a 1min15sec trailer in a day. The process was, i dare say, a bit tedious, as i got most of the parts i put in the trialer form the swf's you posted on spamtheweb, which required me to re-name a sh*t load of symbols. However, i think it turned out reasonably epic.

It's got a v.serious note to it, so at a 1st glance, the trialer looks like a 'serious warhammer collab'. However, as we get to the end of it, things get a little gay :D

I WONT be posting this on spam the web or anything, and only forbid has seen it till now. I'll email it to don for approval, and post it on ng. Only then will you see it. This is classified stuff. Put my sweat and blood into making a trialer in a couple of hours.

Hopefully, even the trailer will RAPE TEH FRONT PAGE!

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted September 2nd, 2009 in Game Development

Same here, got accepted to the art uni, got a nice 4 years of sexi graphic design hopefully :D

Working on the trialer, am going to leave credits as the last thing, i'd need ALL the info. And i'd rather animate a bit.

this looks like some tweet on twitter.

Fuck yes!

Also, I keep forgetting to ask, will there be API?

Application programming interface? Like pause, play, sound control, etc? Interesting to ask, we never discussed it. It might be a nice addition to the whole collab, just remember we're working it out with scenes and not one full time line, so i dont know IF that could be worked into the collab. It'd be a nice touch, though we've got other important stuff to finish before the big-guys consider integrating the API (if thats wha api means - looked on google :P)

Thinking a bit about whats left to do in the collab, i dont know if flashbound has all the author bios and image; if you havent sent them already then i strongly suggest sending them asap. Without that info you wont be credeted.

Also, when talking about the 'author name' on each of the animations, we had decided that they we'd better stick to one style to keep the whole thing nice and neat, and pro. Has anyone made the names for each of the authors?

Transitions anyone? Did we decide which transition we'd be using between each and every short?

Oh and also, this just came to mind now. Since we're still in the process of making the thing, but it's almost done, do you think we should make a form of 'trailer' and post it around here about a week or so before we release it? It might build up some 'hype' or make the whole thing even more pro. When i say trailer, i mean a lot of 'Epic Text' on a black background and Epic Music from an Epic Movie with very VERY short clips (literlay, 2 seconds) once in a while; just finishing off with a 5/10 second joke from the whole collab. If you like the idea i wont mind doing it.

Just some ideas...
