4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsYou know, i visit this forum everyday - multiple times - and there was a time this collab was almost dead. Now that it's up and running again, dont kill yourselves. Yes Magic, we'll be doing all that stuff in the end, when we're rly pleased with the result.
No more proloader related talk, animations are more important than the preloader. By Far.
Good to see you guys active here.
So, if this is the way I'm going to have to act here, then I'll do so. MagicS, i like your idea, it's complicated and i like complicated things, but this is not a pre-loader collab. Me being the leader and the other co-leaders, ForbidMetal and Flashbound18, agreed on a set of rules [page 1, 1st post]. A very simple set in fact. Make an animation [dimensions and frame rate given - amount of nudity, language, etc given] which is themed on Warhammer Fantasy.
'The jokes were the problem'
For the Hardcore Warhammer fans. True. So ForbidMetal took the trouble of finding some VERY good authors and voice actors. I quite simply spoon fed you - myself included. All we artists need to do is translate the script and text into a short animation. Unlike ForbidMetal, i like variety. So hinting to Warhammer online would have made me laugh.
We gave out rules on the scene transitions, menus, credits, pre loader, and anything in relation to the collab interface and navigation. We were to do them to keep everything neat and they'd all contain the same style of art. I shouldn't have broken my own rules. We also tried to complete the menu and navigation before we even started this forum, to make it much easier for you to know where the stuff is going to be placed etc, we were pressed with time and didn't manage to finish it on time (at a satisfactory level of quality)
Here, i'd like to deeply apologise for not being too active (I'm animating, just v.slowly - college has to take the priority, as all of you should do - this is a hobby and we're doing it for the love of our 2 hobbies, animating and Warhammer).
So, focus on your animations. There's tons of stories to chose from, check the older thread to find them all if you haven't gotten an idea yet. And post works in progress.
@ MagicS:
Blood Bowl... why can't we just stick to the Warhammer theme? I mean it's pretty vast isn't it? But, for the sake of variety, if you'd like to do a blood bowl one then send me a script and at least 1 fully-finished character animation. if the animation is going to include a guy running then make this guy's run-movie-clip. I'll then send it to the other collab organisers and we'll see if it's good enough. If you get the majority [hopefully you'll get 3/3 votes] then I'll let you know and you're free to submit the animation'

or my idea for one at least :3
Whatcha think?
Ideawise, that's awsomesauce! Seriously, i dont think i would have been able to come up with something as good as that ;p However, as we stated before, the collab organisers will be animating and compiling the menus, transitions, etc.
BUT
With an idea as good as that, i'm willing to give you a shot at trying to animate it. If you'd like to do it yourself, start off with the small 'waiting' loop (no need to see the orc etc for now) and we'll see if it's as good as [or better than] flashbound's 40k preloader.
Though, as said before, we'd rather get full-animated content from you guys to get co-authored than spend a lot of time on a pre-loader and rush a short animation - though v.good idea mr.swordz :)
Guys, feel free to post all your WIP's and so on. In fact, it's what kept the 40k thread alive last time i think ;)
Updates on my part, lets say college will always be a bitch but i'm drawing and animating stuff as i type :)

Since my Skaven Mordheim scene seemed to go down pretty well, I've been trying to come up with others. I've had an idea for a 4-part rap battle with the 4 chaos gods. I've got some vague lyrics, however since I'm not very rhythm concious, it might need a tweek. If anyone's interested in seeing it, I'll PM it to you.
Well, i was working on an idea to spoof lady gaga in a slaaneshi manner - Forbid seemed to like the idea - i love music spoofs, especially if the lyrics are badass, so pm away! :D
Praise sigmar this collab's on it's feet again ;)
In other news, my submission for the sketch collab [30mins work]
OCTOPARTY
Excuse my double post, didnt link the pic *blushes* :P
Made something small out of a mini doodle i made on my sketchbook not too long ago, even though it was initially widescreen i think it turned out pretty ok on a square-sih canvas ;)

Decent stuff there MagicS, good to see there are a few who are still active.

Forbid, that orcs' awsome.
Cumstains or not, it looks like those who were supposed to be doing stuff for this collab have, quite simply, stopped contibuting in any manner - be it by their art and by forum posts. Not to exagarate on the matter, but i for one dont want to end up chasing after you artists. Back in the 40k forum there were some who werent too keen on a fantasy one, so they're out of the matter, but there were some who were pretty keen on joining... where are they now?
With this rate, Flashbound, Forbid and I could have simply teamed up and made a small collab between us three - and not spend months waiting for someones simple work in progress.
Well, im pretty busy atm, i'll hopefully finish most of this up and post by the end of the weekend - college's tough.
At 2/7/10 08:09 AM, saltoric wrote: Don't worry us cumstains (well me anyway) are now going to work on our piece.
This is only becuase after about a year after i sent ForNoReason a voice acting pm he finally sent the voice work.
p.s. ENGLAND FUCK YEH.
I'm verry glad to hear that Saltoric, though, to everyone - if you've got works in progress etc - pls DO post them here, we can give out some tips.
I recently got a referral (have to fix part of my last assignment) and i'm finishing off the 1st 1/3's of my other 2 new assignments, i worked this out last wed night, took about an hour to make. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/52 6491
And now i'm back to doing some more fantasy stuff - will keep you updated ;p
Any other cumstain's got some work to show? :P

Thanks for the comment :) If you want me to make a basic 'run' animation i'll try finsh one off once i've finished my assignments :)

Thank you Tom, yes very much in truble... here's why...
To be quite honest this is merely a test at drawing a character, might look too comdeic and too knightly but i'd like to share it here.

Those are things i'll keep in mind when we're compiling all the animations, question : has anyone got anything to show?

They're french. Nah dw, it'll all get clear when the whole trailer's done :D

Could we get at least a basic description on what to base our artwork on? Thanks :)
Here's what i've worked on this evening.
I'm not entirely pleased with all the stuff yet but there's still a lot to be done. I greatly accept any form of criticism, i think it truly helps me finalise a decent animation.
The screenshot is just to fill the page up a bit, i'll be drawing the interiors later on.

Yep, i hope so too ;p I mixed the music, wrote up the story baord, drew some bits and animated some stuff... here the short scene i'm working on atm:
Mr.Windowskiller asked me to join this collab and, since i followed this thread before and i was quite tempted, i'm going to give this a shot. My working title atm is Assassins Creed 3. I wont give out too much but, even though i havent finished off ac2 yet, i'm going to try base it off in france.
Will post my wips once i've got some decent stuff to show :)

there you go.
Interesting... will the feel be dark or comedic? Or a mixture of both? ;p
Hmm... what if we put a minigame in the loading page of the collab? Like what was going to be done in the 40k one? Might be an interesting touch if we get a good coder :)
Silly me - sorry for doublepost :P
I wasnt clear in my prev post - i'd like to try produce the artwork etc of the game (i'm not good at programming :P) and - if possible - would you be able to show off a bit of the game engine? I'm curious ;p
I've been interested in looking for a chance to try out making a game - i'd like to give this a shot!
I'm currently studying graphic design (you can check my ng page for my animations and http://thebomblu.deviantart.com/ for my other artwork).
Bomblu
Important to all new viewers, the collab has been going on for a few weeks now but we're still in the very early stages of animation. I decided to move to the Collabs section due to the new forums, it's more organised now (great work NG team ;p)
PS. Deadline is APRIL 1st (and it's not a joke) ;p
New forums are up, thread's being moved to the Collabs section. You can find the Fantasy Collab here:
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1140 599
Seeing that the new forums are up:
Fo Shizzle Peasants!
Following the success of the WH40K Collab which achieved front page status, we as organisers have decided to produce a Warhammer Fantasy Battles Comedy Collab!
1st Phase - *AUDITIONS*:
Produce a 10 second short (roughly), containing both a Warhammer related joke and show of your animation (we would like to see some movement) this must use characters from the Warhammer: Fantasy Universe such as Dark Elves, Orcs, Lizardmen, Empire etc etc - you get the picture. Provided your admitted entry, this piece may be used for the final Collab.
We will be very strong on our position of what's good and what's not, so please don't take rejections to heart, we will offer constructive critisism, and you may try again. (as many times as you like)
-TL;DRCreate a 10 second short, a joke and small animation, Warhammer related as an audition piece. (HIGH QUALITY ART & ANIMATION EXPECTED)
This process will take 2 weeks, after this, you'll be told if your in or out, participants may still opt to join at a later date, but will have far less time to animate.
2nd Phase:
Animate your ideas. If you are chosen to take part in the Collab, we advise you to post some general ideas about the scene you'll be animating. We will have a few authors collaborating in this Collab so, if you're in doubt or need some inspiration, your sources of inspiration are just a PM away!
We know that animators may opt to produce more than one toon. If the collab is lacking a certain race, try to come up with a good joke for that race.
-TL;DRChosen Members start animating your parts bitches!
3rd Phase:
Compiling. When we get to this process, one of three Organisers will compile the parts together and much mead shall be drank (beer for you modern types :D ). We will also be putting in subtitles, so make sure you save a script of your animation to avoid having to re-write it out.
Collaboration Specifications:
- Bare in mind there will be a navigation along the top or bottom or possibly side, so try not to do TOO much important stuff there (Kind of give yourself an imaginary border).
- White flash default colour
- 620x360 stage; NOT flash default
- 24 FPS (Frames Per Second)
- 20-30 second long parts (however, we are very relaxed about this, so don't worry too much)
- Please try to keep the amount of layers you use down to a minimum, obviously do as you would normally, but to many layers takes up a lot of space, just keep it in mind.
- ALL TEXT must be broken apart.
- Make sure you save your part in Flash 8 Format, this is to keep file size down as saving in CS3 format doubles file size.
***COMEDY PARTS***
- menu, credits, navigation, scene transitions and anything that is part of the general Collab will be made by the organisers - we're giving you all the time you need to focus on your animations.
Symbols:
- keep all of your library items in a folder labeled by your NG name.
- name all of your symbols in this format: 'NGname_symbolname'.
(For example, 'bomblu_Skaven_tail') this reduces copy problems.
Disallowed content:
- Porn, extreme nudity (Unless VITAL to your joke - if it is, send the idea and so on to 'thebomblu@hotmail.com' for a review of the content.)
- Sprites.
- Stick figures.
- Stop-Motion. (unless unfucking believably good)
And now...
Then i'll say 1st April, much more than enough for things to get done. Plus, we could all get a good laugh on that day - and no it's not a joke.
DEADLINE = 1st APRIL 2010
now... i'll get working on something *grin*
At 1/24/10 02:22 PM, RedHarvest wrote: not trying to be a dick- but i would be doin a lot more for this project if there were deadlines.
I myself though that a lack of deadlines would make us work more, alas - i was wrong. I for one dont seem to find any decent time to animate anthing recently - and with tomorrow bringing in new assignments, i'm afraid i'm going to have to struggle even harder.
So, i'm going to leave it up to you guys in general, to propose some ideas for deadlines, etc. Before this becomes the Warhammer Radio Comedy Show... all these voiceactors... :P
