So i just finished watching High (or haute) Tension. Must say i liked it, the beginning didn't catch me well but the middle-ending made up for it.
Let's discuss what the deal is with the main character, the girl.
Who was she? Was she a man or a woman? What happened?
I've thought of a few possible answers-
1. Schizophrenic/Multiple personalities. Either; she became friends with the girl, went into her house, killed everyone (And her multiple personality was the man?) OR she was the man, (whose multiple personality is a lesbian woman) never actually became friends with the girl and the whole scene with them in the car in the beginning was imagination.
2. Insane. In the membrane. One big hallucination in which she/he (and we) can't tell what is real and what is imagination, but the basis is that she (or he) killed the family.
Now was she ACTUALLY a man or a woman? Both answer one and answer two imply that she is one thing, but sometimes believe she is something else. So is she a woman?
Evidence plz;
Man: In the beginning scene it shows "him" jerking off with a severed head.
Woman: At the point in the movie where it goes back to the scenes in the house, and shows her killing the people as a woman. Also the ending scene (in which we find she is still alive) shows her as a woman. The DVD cover shows a her as a woman with the saw. (P.S. the thing witht he glass is cool, shows that she has some sort of serious connection of some sort with the girl. More so than being "turned on" by her.)
Please, please discuss. Give me your own explanations as to what you think was happening, and as to whether she was a woman or a man. Know that I started this thread looking for answers.
Thanks all.
