But still, SOPA sucks. But soup is great.

In Swedish "sopa" means either "a piece of trash" or "to sweep". It made no sense to me at first, I thought americans were improving their waste disposal systems. Then I realized that it's about sweeping away the Internet as we know it. It's funny how it translates =D

You can do it with the demo version =)

Response to: Do you use presets? Posted April 22nd, 2011 in Audio

At 4/22/11 09:41 AM, EricFreeman wrote: I know there's many people that frown upon the use of presets, so I wanted to get more input on the use of them. Do you like them? Why or why not?

I remember a few years back I think it was Quarl who posted a thread about how devastated he was after giving in and using a preset and then realizing that it was the preset that *made* his song. Is it really such a bad thing?

Personally I'm all for the use of them. Somebody out there with far more experience and knowledge than I created something that sounds cool for me to use. Why should I beat my head against the wall for a couple hours trying to get my synths to sound right when I can just tweak a premade one?

I use presets and I fully agree with the OP. But I also agree that they take away from the originality of the song, at least if they are used without modification. This has never bothered me much though, because I believe that there can be enough originality in other aspects of the song even if I'd limit myself to a small set of instruments (like the orchestra). So if it sounds good, I use it.

It sucks to hear an obvious sytrus preset used in a really unoriginal way

A God wouldn't be as stupid as creating a system with no security mechanism. Therefore, killing God would be a sport. And for each respawn it gets tougher to kill him.

He is being completely honest with us and he's asking for advice. That is admirable, not cowardly.

Anyway, RPGCrazyCritic, it is unfortunate that this is the introducion you're getting to Newgrounds' audio community. Believe me when I say that there are many helpful people in this forum, but your question has no objective answer, so it's difficult to help.

Your question is the kind of question I sometimes ask myself, or a friend who really knows me, but what kind of answers do you expect from random people on a BBS? Go with your heart man.

But ow my head is aching,
I better write in the morning.

But I fought the sleepiness and won!
My rhyme is finally done.

Response to: Someone define music Posted August 10th, 2010 in Audio

Music is my girlfriend, to whom I unconditionally give everything she needs to blossom. At least to the best of my abilities. It is sometimes painful, but looking back at each season I've spent with her, she always gives me more love in return than I deserve.

Each time someone compliments my music, I am glad. I seldom expect others to care about it, but it always brightens my day. And each time someone insults my music, we bash their head hard against uncharted parts of the spectrum.

She is a weapon of mass emotion and I cannot control her. Most people seem to be able to, but I can't. I also can't listen to most of what other people seem to consider music; people who probably also classify music as organised sound and silence and whatnot. Even though it is technically true, music is to me is much more than that.

Perhaps I'll grow up one day.

Response to: Piano roll help please Posted March 10th, 2009 in Audio

I pretty much agree with what MICHhimself said. Just drag and drop it directly into the playlist.
However, there might be another way to cheat yourself around this problem. You could add another beat per bar (change the time signature to 5/4) in the pattern you have. You can do this by adding changing the number in the box that should be located close to the top-left corner of the pattern-window. The default value is should be "---", which happens to be the same as "4" (4/4).
This will get rid of that silent space, but it could cause trouble if you happen to have other stuff in the pattern playing on a 4/4 time signature.

I hope that helps, I'm quite bad at explaining stuff in english :P

I hope this helps.

Response to: Nightterror/lucid dream/paralysis Posted November 28th, 2008 in General

When I was younger, probably 8 or so (can't remember that exactly), I had basically the same kind of sleep paralysis. I woke up but couldn't move and I couldn't breathe ( at least I felt like that as well). I hallucinated that the room (top floor, lol) was filling up with water and that I was drowning in it. I started to panic, thinking I would die. I don't remember how it ended, but this most intense part has glued itself into my mind.

I wonder why this has happened to me only once in my life, and why it was so long ago.
I also used to have both lucid dreams and night terrors back in those days, nowadays I can't even remember having any dreams at night...

Example: Say that someone (Jim) doesn't like the game of basketball. Another person (John), being the person he is, is angry at Jim because, in his point of view, basketball is a wonderful game.
Now suppose Jim could somehow make John understand exactly why he doesn't like the game and see his point of view. John couldn't rationally (It wasn't exactly rational in the first place) stay mad at Jim, seeing that Jim's most logical course of action was to not enjoy basketball.

Ok, so this makes more sense to me than anything previously posted. What you have posted is a very common problem in communication. Let me break it down.
If someone told me that they dislike something that I like, I wouldn't go being mad about it. Even though I'd perhaps be a little disappointed, I'd accept it. I have been in that situation many times. Now if the John guy gets mad in a situation like this, he obviously doesn't care about Jim's feelings. He just thinks that basketball is a wonderful game, and doesn't respect that other people might feel otherwise. I call people such as John egoistic, unemphatic, psychopathic etc...
Indeed, probably the only way of getting along properly with such a person would be by the help of some awesome device, but I'd rather try to avoid them.
