Iraq - Finally getting better Posted March 25th, 2008 in Politics

Ok, so i did not support the war in Iraq when we went in, but I also think that pulling out before its done is cowardice and refusal to shoulder our responsibilities - we made this mess, we should clean it.

Now, the Iraqi army just launched an attack on militias in Basra, with up to 15000 troops. To me, this is progress towards getting out of there for most our forces. If they can put together an attack force of 15000...... the iraqi army must be making good progress.

Response to: Are black people bred more athletic Posted March 3rd, 2008 in Politics

Yes.

But in terms of PC-ness it get s a bit dodgy.

Essentially, when we were building castles and generally kicking the shit out of each other every ten minutes (which largely drove our technology to advance), black people actually did live in Africa (in before someone calls me a racist) and their lifestyle was very athletic...

As in, spears and lions.

Black people have been seperate from whites from the very first humans. We started out black, then we evolved white skin. Considering we had time to change colour, it would be ridiculous to suggest that africans did not adapt to their environment better.

Response to: Wary of Obama Posted March 3rd, 2008 in Politics

One thing cellar

..... Last I remember, America is a democracy. Obama knows fine well that if he tries that shit he will be massacred in the next general election. Sure, he shares a little in the siege mentality that exists amongst the "black community" but as president I think he will work to include black people more in politics and American life. Which would effectively destroy this mentality/.

Also the "what if it was white power" argument is pretty weak. Whites have nothing to come back from, whites were not oppressed and "white people are an important part of America" is not something that would be disagreed with in many places. When Black people say that they are worth something, given the history, we can accept that they have a reason for doing so and have genuine cause to believe that some people would take that from them. White supremacy =/= Black rights with a different colour.

Okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

So before I started a flame war with half the forum, my point was that even though (in apparently only my opinion. Thanks Americans and Brits for not knowing enough to comment) in Kosovo's case this is perhaps the right move morally, that it IS technically illegal, it sets a dangerous precedent in the world. Lo and behold, Palestine has threated to declare a state, with other separatist movements watching very carefully how this plays out.

Is doing the "right thing" (IMO I KNOW) worth violating international law, potentially hammering the final nail into the coffin that the Iraq war has created?

After the Iraq war and this..... how can we blame anyone else for breaking these laws when we, and now our friends can apparently break them at will?

True, but many people in Kosovo will not see it that way. I can certainly understand their wish for independence.

Also, whats all this about the west "interfering". I admit that, whether you support it or not we interfered in the war, but right now all we have done is recognize that Kosovo exists as a country. We haven't forced anything on anyone, we haven't blown anything up and it was them who declared independence, not us. The majority of people there want it, so why should we stop them from having it?

Even Serbia has said it will not use violence to prevent this, so thats pretty much all we would ask. Apart from a Serbian invasion or something we won't interfere.

All after the war. Any monkey could have predicted that would happen, with any group of people who had just experienced what the Albanians had experienced. Fair enough the NATO and UN forces failed to do enough to stop it, but anyone could have seen it coming.

Also paramilitary =/= special forces. Anyone could call himself special forces that way. And 96 isolated rapes that could have easily been done by a very small number of people (if the entire police force was out there just to rape and not to keep peace it would have been thousands of rapes) doesn't really compare to the genocide and purging of thousands non-albanian minorities, which you haven't mentioned even once.

First of all, I acknowledge the KLA was responsible for war crime against Serbs. I accept that the KLA were just as brutal as the Serbian forces. However KLA =/= Albanians. The KLA was a terrorist organization. It's like trying to kill every Irish man, woman and child in response to the IRA blowing up some drunks. They were wrong, but punishing anyone but the IRA for terrorist attacks just makes you as bad as them. I seem to be hearing "well they killed x many serbs" a lot. Just because a bunch of terrorists or rebels kills innocent Serbians does not give the Serbian army the right to kill innocent Albanians. My point is that if your leaders had handled this correctly then Kosovo would not be independent today.

True some people in the army and police are braindamaged, but saying serbia is the bad guy and albanians living there are nice and innocent is like saying george bush is an honest and intelligent man.

George Bush won two elections in the worlds largest superpower, he may not be honest, but he's not stupid. I'm not saying that the only good Serb is a dead Serb or any shit but any government that sanctions the mass murder of civilians as a response to any problem, no matter how severe is in the wrong.

For some reason it cut the bottom off of my post.

Long story short, you are a retarded brownshirt who used wikipedia sources without any prior knowledge of them. As it turns out, Human Rights Watch is perhaps the largest compilation available on the internet of the abuses committed against these "rats". I posted one entitled "The use of rape as a toll of ethnic cleansing" right at the bottom of my last post.

All well sourced, documented cases of Serb special forces raping innocent women and children.

All in defense of the homeland, I imagine.

serbian kosovo population since World War 2:

http://www.snd-us.com/history/savic_01.h tm
http://www.hrw.org/reports/1999/kosov2/

Well, I accept the hrw one and I know "our" media doesn't make a big deal of this when perhaps they should, but the fact that crimes against serbs had been occurring in Kosovo does not give a government the right to retaliate against a race. Sending police or even troops is fine but giving them the orders to rape and exterminate an entire population is akin to nuking the middle east in response to 9/11. Some people would support it, but those people are stupid and no-one worth a damn listens to them

Now, you seem to be sure that the albanian population only

wanted independence after the war in 1999:

Here are some more fun facts:

Albanians wanted independence way before the war. You didnt think we just went down there and killed the lot of them (wich we didnt really kill, we killed only 7500 the rest we chased away) cause we were mean barbarians who were just bored and wanted blood? We went down there to chase them awayhe last fun fact:

NOT getting your facts from CNN and BBC.
READING WIKIPEDIA for some basic info. Then, when you want to post that info, check the sources of that info.

Morevoer, what does the EU think they're doing? Get the fuck off, it's not your country! They have zero right to protect Kosovo and denounce Serbs while operating outside of the area and history of the area. It's like some asshole coming in and telling you how to eat....fuckin piss off.....

Yeah, thats almost exactly the same as telling you "you have to respect the wishes for independence of a minority you tried to exterminate". No-one is trying to "denounce serbs" but genocide is kind of considered a big thing in the international community. It's like having a Darfur right next to you and being expected not to do anything about it because it's "not your business" . Surely NATO would be a better target for you "STOP INTERFERING IN OUR GENOCIDE PLZ" argument anyway?

Well, its declared, anyway.

I appreciate the historical importance of Kosovo to Serbia but if the whole ethic cleansing thing had never occured, they wouldn't be wanting independence now.

One thing that worries me is that people are universally stupid, so a couple of Albanian qStik's will probably celebrate independence by attacking the countries Serbian minority- I imagine not the most popular minority in the world. That said, the president of the country of Kosovo has said he will do his best to safegaurd the rights of all the minorities there, so hopefully this will be the end of this.

Hopefully.

Rats which you tried to exterminate.

I just can't understand why you don't see what you've done wrong. Your troops rounded up innocent people and machine gunned them for having committed no other crime than being Albanian. Thats kind of a relationship-ender right there.

Look, as much as I hate using the holocaust in an argument and feel dirty for doing so, what was done in Kosovo is the closest European analogue to it. Ethnic cleansing is not a legitimate diplomatic tool.....Can you at least understand why the friends and family of innocent men and boys left to rot in ditches would want to distance themselves from the government which ordered their deaths?

Serbia/kosovo Posted February 16th, 2008 in Politics

First off: Yes there is a topic about this but its an old flamefest from '07

Ok, so Kosovo wants independence from Serbia. Which is kind of understandable considering the genocide that took place there not that long ago. The EU looks poised to defend kosovo with force if necessary. Russia is talking tough and strongly supports the Serbs.

On the flipside the Serbs and Russians may not have the moral high-ground, but they technically have the legal high-ground. The EU and international law is based on the principle that borders cannot change without mutal consent from both parties. If Kosovo declares independence without Serbian approval (which it will certainly not have) these conditions will not be met. This is equivalent to a fictional American entity breaking the constitution (blatant and incontestably) but having a very strong moral case for doing so.

Chavez - Will cut oil Posted February 11th, 2008 in Politics

Any thoughts?

Could this lead to a war - we all know that the US economy is on the brink of going down the toilet and any disruption of oil supplies could make that go from bad to worse ( im my opinion).

If it did lead to war, would this not mean America was walking into another jungle war - a tried and tested failure where the enemy will mimic the tactics of the veit cong.

Or given how much either of those options sucks, will the US either give in, or simply redouble their efforts to get chavez out of power by intrigue and whatever else. ( I don't think anyone can deny the CIA must be working pretty hard on ways to get the guy out of power)

Obama would simply be the best man for the job. I mean, he's the only candidate in the race who will even meet the Iranians without preconditions. If you're going to bomb someone at least have the courage to look them in the eye and demand that they stop what they are doing. I hope Obama can cope with the economy, but then the republicans have hardly done a stand up job these last few years anyway.

Obama has somehow created a situation where I would be disappointed is a liberal female democrat was elected after Bush. A year ago, that would have sounded too good to be true.

Also, What kind of role model is Hillary meant to be for women?
