How long does it take for an unfairly submission to become unflagged?
If it's much longer, I'll probably just submit again, for all it's worth.
At 12/31/07 08:11 AM, Wonchop wrote: You mean, has a submission ever lost its daily feature?
Well, when submissions that have a daily award get deleted (either due to it being stolen, or for other legal reasons), the awards get passed down. I.E. Someone who came in 3rd that day would get 2nd.
That happened to me once. I was looking at my profile and saw that I had two trophies when I thought I only had one. My submission got bumped up to Daily 5th from 6th because a movie higher up got deleted. It's not bad to have that happen but it's not the same as actually winning a place on the day... like yesterday, if, say. JackKnife got deleted, I would get a daily 5th... but I know I actually got 6th place instead...
eh well xD
Thanks to all those who got me 6th! and well done to those who got trophies, and those who got in top 10!

Export the FLA file (assuming you have it) from Flash as an AVi. Convert to FLV. That should work, I think. I have a Mac and and I can play FLVs in Front Row, so I don't see why you can't play an FLV on an iPod.
Although, if you do have the AVI, you can always upload it to something like Youtube (assuming, once again, that it's your work) and watch it with the Youtube function.
Or you could import it into WMM or something.
I think you can do a direct import to Quicktime from Flash, too. iPods will DEFINITELY play .Mov or .M4V files.
Does anyone know where the NG guys get their Merch. printed?

Anyway, have you tried another browser? If it is just a safari problem and it isn't effecting your NG'ing then it's probably best to just ignore it.
Ok, thanks :) Although an edit button would be nice to correct the typo mistakes I made in my last post xD Suppose it serves me right for not proof reading before posting :P Hehe
And I've just tried FireFox. Seems to work fine in FF. I'll do my NGing on FF now. Thanks for you help, man :)
At 11/30/07 12:37 PM, citricsquid wrote: What browser are you using?
Also we don't have an edit button here :)
Safari 3 (for Tiger). It's quite buggy, though. So it might be because of that. (It always crashes when I try to read RSS, so something's not right :P)
Lol curse Newground's lack of an edit button! I visit another forum I rely on it quite heavily, haha. (Mainly because it's against the rules to double post, I didn't realise that there was a feature to quote multiple posts until regularly, haha)
Can't find an edit button anywhere,
but it's still persisting... =\

Try clearing your cache with Ctrl + F5.
If that doesn't work, it might be worth PMing liljim or ross.
I'm on a Mac
But ok, I'll reset my cache. Thanks.
I keep seeing "deleted" as my username in the top right hand corner.... then it switches back to my username.
Is there a reason for this? Am I really deleted? I don't see what I've done wrong...
On the actual SWF itself, how do you make the transparent when putting it on the web (Not being Newgrounds specific, here). Does anyone know the HTML/php to make the background transparent?
All help appreciated. I can't find anything online. There seem to be no CS3 tutorials anywhere! And most HTML tutorials are for out-dated browsers iike Netscape!

I have Flash MX and Flash 8 both installed on my old, crappy PC.
Why? Because Flash MX's video importing tool is easier to use than Flash 8's.
I'm getting CS3 for my new computer soon, though.

Why is my website among this piece of shit? Take it off or else I'm gonna get a hole between your two eyes, you motherfuckers.I'm serious. In my opinion, Tom Fulp would never say something like that, nor would anyone who created such a well-known website. It was probably written by someone from that website trying to get Fulp in prison or something. Bastards.
I've PMed Tom several times and he doesn't seem like he'd write something like that, lol...
or maybe he was just being polite to me while disguising his evil side :O
8th? Not bad :)
I didn't get an award :(
Haha oh well, lol. Those were some pretty good submissions!
Does anyone know if there's going to be a Valentine's competition?
I've recently finished my Valentine's animation but I don't want to upload it if there's a competition...
Does anyone know if Tom has mentioned anything? I get the email everyday but I don't check the site out much... so, does anyone know?
Can someone please help me with the script for a music player (similair to myspace's profile song player) please.
I need script to:
Fast forward through the song (when holding the button)
Rewind through the song (when holding down the button)
make a bar that will take you to a certain place in the song when dragged along a little bar thing (look at myspace's song player thing)
A volume increaser/decreaser (preferable increaser)
and a thing to tell you how far you are into the song (in hours/minutes/seconds)
If anyone can help with any of these, please reply :)
thanks
is there script to hide/show a layer when you click on a button? if so, pease could someone tell me? (preferably both - im not good at actionscript)
thanks.

i was kidding about the reveiw bit :P
nah, its cool, i dont mind but it just gets on my nerves to see my movie which i put as much of my heart into as someone would put into their flash to see it be unfairly judged. but whatchyagunnado? its not like anythings gonna happen just coz some goofy 14 year old sez hes annoyed. (im not goofy but i wanted a adjective to put there)

At 8/17/06 09:36 PM, -absentminded- wrote: Wow! Preloaders and effects!
Meh
Yes, in happy land, everyone only watches flash movies they like! But then you realize that people won't like your flash, and will be willing to tell you.
i dont care if people dont like my movie, its when they dismiss it :\
If everyone liked every flash they watched, and only voted on flash movies they liked, there would be no reason to have a 0 or 1 on the voting bar.
im not saying that people shouldnt vote high because its clay, i think they should just vote more fairly on it :\
At 8/17/06 09:21 PM, -absentminded- wrote: Technically, yes, but it's not really an animation created in flash, it's a claymation.
actaully, my two most recent claymations had flash elements in (such as effects) and most of my claymations have had Flash made preloaders, opening credits and ending credits all made in flash
It's too bad if they're narrow minded. There are plenty of people like that, but you can't force them to "appreciate" claymation just because you put a lot of work into it or whatever.
the thing is tho, if they kept away in the first place rather than making a nuiscenese (spelling sorry) of themselves by annoying artists then there would be nothing to complain about :\
People are allowed to vote whatever they want to. You can't change that.
I know but there are people that can >:-D im joking. i know.
Yeah, well, there will always be people who don't like your work, deal with it.
i know. ive learned alot over the last 6/7 months of submitting Flash to NG. there will never be anything that everyone loves - we are all different :-) which is good :-)
:Somehow I think I'm repeating myself here.
sorry. nice talking to you though ;-P
At 8/17/06 09:07 PM, -absentminded- wrote: Well this is a flash site, so except some people to vote low because it's not a real flash movie.
actually, anything with a .swf file extension is flash if im correct...
Some people just don't like clay movies. Some people don't like movies with anime. Some people don't like movies without a plot, etc, etc. There will always be people who don't like your flash or the medium it's made in.
i know but i just think that people shouldnt be narrow minded about them - alot of reveiws ive receved have said how the person has changed their mind on claymations after seeing it. anyway, my clay protection thing was just an idea
There's no way to stop people from disliking clay movies, or voting low just because they don't like them.
no but i think they should bring in something to say that you arent allowed to vote low just because its a certain type of movie and just steer clear if you dont like it
its just an idea, so im not fussed if it dusnt happen - im just getting annoyed with people that do it since most of my work is clay :(
i dont mean to vote high on them, just like a thingy to stop people deliberately voting low on it because its clay... not the actual movie. its like the reveis that just say 'claymations suck!' and all 0s even though there are people who have given a proper reveiw and reasons why they voted low rather than it just being because its clay. and i know about all the knox stuff lol - i practically worship anyone else who does clay (whos good of course :P) but this isnt just for me, its for all the other claymators who want a fair chance at getting their movies the score it deserves rather than a low score because of some stupid jerks who dont like clay decide that it shouldnt be on NG because they dont like the animation style.
i know claymation is probably the most hated form of animation on NG (except 3FPS 'My first claymation' stickfights) but i think saw the other day that Clock movies get clock protection or something that means that clock movies cant be blammed just because its a clock movie.
well, i was pondering to myself earlier whilst reading a reveiw to my newest claymation submission and I came across one reveiw:
... August 16, 2006
Reviewed by: demonziex Overall Score: 1
.... why did you even make that flash its pointless making clay movies are maybe the easyest thing to make....
Graphics: 3 Sound: 6 Interactivity: 0 Style: 2 Violence: 0 Humor: 0
and thought 'this guy voted it less just because it was a claymation!' and was outraged for a minute or two before coming up with this idea.
My idea is that Claymations should get protection from people who just vote low because its clay. like an unwritten rule that because its clay it shouldnt be voted on less. most of my movies have received lower votes compared to what they would have received if people didnt just vote low.
so im here asking if anyone agrees or thinks its a good idea (maybe it could be breached out into other styles of animation?(like sprite movies etc.)
Thanks for your time!

yep. a good example is retarded animal babies being on wikipedia :P
anyway, hurry up knox, we're dying out here, we have to struggle through the nooby stick flashes sent in as people's first flashes set at 3 FPS whilst your busy making your movies!
anyway, good luck with getting villain in the stores! i hope you can get it in internationally then i can buy it too :)
