The starting image is WAY too vague, but I'm interested in seeing where this topic is going...

Try to make the next one have more defined characteristics of the person you want us to guess.

Seriously, the guy who made that image is a nut.
Bushes faces aren't even that funny, have you some of Americas or hell other countries politicians.

Sorry, but I HAVE to ask; what, exactly, would the direct descendant of a human be, if not a human, let alone look like? Are you saying the bush is further up the evolutionary tree than I, a mere human, am?

But, seriously, I think Bush makes silly faces compared to most politicians, who try to maintain their composure when in front of a camera.

I couldn't find any high resolution pictures of Bush making silly faces either, but I got a good laugh out of some of the images I did find.

No one made stupid, monkey faces like that man.

You are most welcome, it was a pleasure to do. We will be trying to have more regular contests, so keep an eye on the forum. =]

Response to: Video games = art? Posted April 6th, 2010 in Video Games

While this topic has been made before, probably a number of times, I'll throw in my two cents.

I think it's pretty hard to make any kind of case AGAINST video games being art. From their humble beginnings as one man labors of love to their blossoming into massive, multi-million dollar productions, video games are without question one of the dominant artforms of the times. In film, on canvas and on the radio, there exists shitty art, there are commercial, sell-out pieces of crap and what you might consider shovelware of any artistic field. People labor to bring us games, there is a lot of imagination and innovation in a good game. If there is a case to be made against video games being classified as art I'd love to hear the logic behind it.

Bottom line is: DUR!

Response to: Gamers, we've got a big problem... Posted April 4th, 2010 in Video Games

No more of this "facefags" or any other "--fags" business, k? You don't need to demean people just because they are not into the same kind of games that you are, for whatever reason.

With that out of the way, yes, VALVe is the superior developer, their games are actually games, and they're good games, hell they're GREAT games even, however Zynga has managed to tap into a very interesting niche, people who don't play games, like, at all, until they got on Facebook. People who do not understand the art of game development, what goes into making a good game or even that there are (much) better things out there than FarmVille.

Remember when you first got into gaming? Chances are you liked, even loved some pretty mediocre games, gentle, hand-holding games or simple one or two button games that helped nudge you into gaming in the first place, probably on a console or computer that was bought by someone other than you. Gaming isn't something you jump into and know how to pull off a Mortal Kombat Fatality or get a string of headshots on the first try, it takes years and many, many dollars to appreciate the actual art form of game development.

All I'm saying is that they know not what they do, as they are ignorant today. However these are the "real" gamers of tomorrow.

Response to: Photoshop Tips? Posted April 3rd, 2010 in Art

Well since you have a tablet and Photoshop and Flash already there's really no harm in practicing with them. There is a different feel to using a tablet and a raster or vector program then there is to using paper.

The main idea, though, whether you want to work on your digital art or your traditional art is that you practice.

As long as you're trying and working at it you'll be improving, even if it doesn't feel like it.

Why should these "gamers" boycot the site? Maybe they (the Escapist) made a mistake in their easy account setup through Facebook. Still, punishing the site because of this contest is silly and I doubt many will follow through anyway.

If VALVe loses to Zynga it's unfortunate because VALVe is the superior developer, but it's really just because the people who are voting Zynga are, for the most part, uninitiated with the more "serious" aspects of computer/video games and with what game development really is.

It's like they're asking people who belong to a Vin Diesel forum what is the greatest cinematic masterpiece of all time, I don't know what they'd choose, but I do know it's going to be wrong.

I'm surprised that I'm so wrapped up in this, but Zynga has a fair lead now. I'd post about it on my Facebook but it would probably only gather more votes for Zynga if any. Well at the very least I'll be ready to vote for the other company in round 6. I read this article and it's a valid point; Farmville players are basically just newbs at gaming and don't really know any better yet.

Zynga 52.9% (17902)
Valve 47.1% (15939)

Response to: castlevania: good, bad or excellent? Posted April 2nd, 2010 in Video Games

I think that the series is generally quite a bit above par but they have had their missteps. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is one of my all time favorite games and I've adored most of their 2D games and even enjoyed some of the 3D outings.

All-in-all I'd say it's an excellent lineage.

Unfortunately, we accept only original pieces of art by their creator in this forum and in the portal. I can respect that you had a hand in the creation of these pieces, however we hold that only the actual illustrator should be permitted to post their pieces here.

If you could influence your illustrator to create an account and re-post the work that would be wonderful.

Thank you.

Racists are stupid, look at the pie chart, where is the "slice" for people of mixed race? Shouldn't that one exist and expand?

Personally I would look at a world where mixed race is the norm as a good thing, less room for idiotic bigotry from sore assholes such as those people. Anyway if the election to the presidency of the United States of a man of mixed race is any indication, and I like to think that it is, these sorts of radical ideologies are on the way out. Johnny Reb can go suck a dick.

Also, they certainly don't know how to make a compelling video, that thing was terrible.

I know it's too little too late, but I just voted for Valve. I kind of feel sorry for the developers that have gotten steamrolled by Zynga. However, the whole thing is about internet, specifically Facebook, popularity not quality of product. This is why they have a panel of judges for awards that mean something, not reality show style call-and-vote.
