Flash can create all kinds of things if you learn Actionscript. You can make games and applications and websites.
On the more artsy side you can make static images, animated .gif's and animations.
It's a really amazing program but you have to commit to working with it and have enough motivation to keep you going.

The problem is thats not the look I was going for, what I was wanting was to have the movie sort of split in half, with the vectorized image on the left hand side and the real image on the right hand side (so it turns into vector once it reaches the halfway mark) with a gradient cross dissolve kinda thing between the 2 sides (the vectorized image could just fade out into something with a 0% alpha (see through)). Im just not sure how to do that.
Hmm, well that's a tough one. I suppose you could put one layer in a mask with half of the screen blocked in for the mask. The gradually transitioning part is the killer there as there aren't any tools to my knowledge that would allow you to do that. You could have, like three levels of change using alphas and masks, but I don't think you'll quite get the result you're after.
Might be possible through AS though.

well i hope tom makes a news poast about this, that would be cool. :D
Doubtful, I mean we had, what, 3 days to make something and there are 3 entries, it's hardly a Luis day, more like a Luis intermission. We need to do this right next time; more time to prepare. Else Luis will be a sad panda. I mean, seriously, Inglor had a crap load of entries for Inglor day, as did Denvish, Luis day looks pretty lame in comparison, even though he's probably the favorite mod in the Flash forum at the moment.
What I would do is a motion tween. Set the one you want exactly on top of the other in two different layers, give the top graphic an alph of 0% then make another keyframe on that layer after a certain number of frames and move the alpha up to 100%. add a motion tween between the two and you're done! =]

Tis true, I'm afraid. And Tom will push it up again when Pimp gets close...
Hopefully they will add some more secrets with the redesign.

Whenever the top user (right now that is Pimp) deposits the amount of experience you need to get to any level above level 9 goes up by a certain amount.
Speaking of experience; I'm going to have 8,000 exp. tomorrow. Closing in on level 15...

For your information people, stuff can be frontpaged while underjudgement - so I wonder if this situation could ever come up where something is blammed while on the FP. I doubt itthough, since you can't fully edit your pwn submission while it is on the FP.
Yes, that's what I was implying by "The admins can save any movie they want to and put it on front page if they are so inclined." It's been done before with movies that would have been blammed otherwise.
We don't need your internet drama here.
At 7/12/07 03:31 PM, Wyattfilms wrote: Why get it, whats wrong with the flash you have currently? It's all basicaly the same thing...
Depends on what you're planning on doing with it. As far as I'm concerned CS3 isn't worth the cost of an upgrade. If you're a hard core coder you'll probably want CS3 due to AS3. But as an animator I don't really feel that it's worth the money for some faster filters and new layout.
The admins can save any movie they want to and put it on front page if they are so inclined. Generally movies that are blammed aren't front page material but Tom has a good sense of humor and will occasionally put something very low scoring on the front page if he sees it in the portal.
Once a movie is past judgement it can never be blammed. I can be deleted but never blammed no matter how low the score gets.
One more site with some Yoshi music:
The best I can come up with is some music from the original SNES Yoshi's Island.

LMAO! Happy Luis Day everyone! Yay!

1) Do NOT make requests in the art forum.
2) What's the incentive for someone to do this for you? Will you pay them?
3) How are we supposed to know if you have the skill to make something decent if someone does this for you?

I find myself ladders about once a week changing light bulbs or getting on the roof to clean out gutters
Not until recently, I didn't even know my weakness until a few months ago when I had to spray some hornet nests. I was all gung-ho about climbing the ladder ready to nuke those motherfuckers, but once I got up the ladder a ways I got totally freaked out, panicing and was all but paralized with fear, imagining all the things that could go wrong. It was unpleasant to say the least. Fortunately the hornet spray stuff had a good 20-30 foot range and I was able to spray the nest, and get down.
I'm not afraid of being in tall buildings or at the edge of a canyon or top of a mountain. Just the ladder thing...
Wow, and I thought my life was sad and devoid of meaning...

Add:
stop();
to the keyframe of where you would like it to stop, you'll probably want to create a fresh layer for the Actionscript.

So if you could post something, that would be fantastic.
..::phobias::..
Yeah, a lot of people claim to have phobias but are really just afraid. A person with arachnophobia (fear of eight legged things, usually spiders) literally can not be in the same room with a spider without having a total meltdown, a person with acrophobia (fear of heights) will never go anywhere near a ledge at all. I, myself, dislike large spiders but I can tolerate little ones, I cannot go more than 10 or so feet on a ladder, but I don't think that qualifies me as an acrophobe.
..::rollercoasters::..
are great fun.
..::lack of motivation::..
Yeah I totally relate, but I don't want to abandon my babies so I assure them I will work on them but when I open flash, I just can't do shit anymore. I hope it's just a phase... a looong two+ year phase that will end with me completing movies again. I'm just not inspired anymore. They say you can not create art in a vacuum, which is esentially the way my life is righrt now. And now my Denver plans are on hold for various reasons, which sucks, because I'd like to see my friend sometime soon.
Yes 4x5 is fine and some people even prefer to work with a small tablet, like me!
In all honesty it isn't very good at all. I would just scrap it if I were you. But if you want to continue it yes to color, yes to sound and speach, yes to backgrounds. Also I am getting tired of "Robot Chicken" style scene transitions, I say get rid of those. It needs a lot of work, that's what it's lacking.

Art is fine here, and if it's for a Flash it can belong there too.
But if you do post something here in art you must have an attached picture to kick off the thread. Consider this your second warning.

Come oonnnn... Please spend more time on your art and your concepts. I don't want to say anything negative, but you can't possibly look at these and think they're good. The one you DID spend time on, 20 minutes, is mediocre at best, but it blows everything else you've done out of the water. That should tell you something.
I can understand if you're excited about your art and you want to post a lot, but you need to do a lot of work to improve them. Don't just rush something off because it will look rushed.
I think you should try something different, draw from a photograph, do a portrait, something that is more than thick lines and blobs.
You can do better, I want to see it.
