God damn! That's one grade A piece of beauty. Even better than the last one, which is to say that it's blindingly brilliant. Thank God you're here, I need to look at something nice once in awhile when navigating this forum.

That hair is crazy, looks like a towel draped over her head. She (badly) needs hair growing out the other side of her scalp (behind her head).

I say white hair with light blue lowlights.

I'm not crazy about having polls in the art section, though.... make it a rare event.

By unanimous decision, those look bad, almost unforgivably bad. Look up a tutorial on how to make realistic human hands with whatever 3D program you're using, because those ones really are terrible. Sorry.

No. Read the rules first and then you post.

You need to upload your art via the "Include Picture" attachment tool above the "Post it! >" button, but you won't be able to upload that .png until you convert it to .jpg, .jpeg or .gif.

Also; [IMG] links do not work here.

Looks really awesome, having six arms would be useful on the old 'puter, you could always have two hands on the keyboard and one on the mouse and one on the tablet and that leaves two free to attend to other things. I have a slight problem with the way his ribcage and abs look, there is too much definition, like the skin is being folded in between the muscles, which looks funny.

But it is really good and the anatomy looks great to me. That's a dude you don't want to mess with.

This just needs to die, it was started off horribly with traced "art" and just continued to suck. You need to learn to put time, effort and originality in your art.

therottenmentos, the sketches are not interesting or well thought out, but dont give up if you want to improve. just keep practicing and then post something you think is good.
You're really gay why don't you at least give me some credict... Well i hate people who hate on people saying that they can't but the reason is that you can't even draw... jeez your a faggot. Well here's a battle rifle from Halo 2&3.

If you know your art isn't very good, you must be posting it for criticism rather than praise. Dookiemaister is actually giving you some good advice (take longer to work on a piece, make something interesting and put thought into it) and you wig out and flame him.

Improve your posting, please.

Also carry a sketchbook with you at school and draw in that, everything looks better when there are no equally spaced blue lines running through it horizontally.

ESL, take a class in that.

Crop your pictures, empty white space is a waste of space.

I can't really even tell what's going on in that picture, but if it is what I think it is, it isn't very good.

I agree with that, for the most part, but I was just saying that I liked this specific movie.

Also, Ice Age is gay. The only reason it's almost half decent is the voice acting cast they had.

And name one movie that has been made in 3D that is made for the whole family.
Swear to god, if you say any Shrek movie, your balls are gone...

This is something that bothers me about Dreamworks and Blue Sky Studios. They aren't creative with their voice casting, they just try to get the hottest celebrities to voice, whether or not they fit the part or are any good at voice acting.

Pixar is awesome at voice casting, they get people who aren't at the top of the celebrity food chain, voices like Dave Foley, Sarah Vowel, Craig T. Nelson, relatively minor in the celeb, world or even niche celebs, but who did an awesome job. There are exceptions like Tom Hanks in Toy Story but that was their first Full Length and probably needed a huge name to draw skeptical viewrs.

Speaking of 3D movies, I just saw Surfs Up. I was expecting a horrible movie and I was wrong, way wrong, it's actually a great film. Cool character designs, good cast, great script, acceptable but pretty mainstream soundtrack, fantastic animation (particularly with the water)... I loved it. Happy Feet was garbage, and never should have won best animated feature at the Oscars. Flushed Away should have been nominated and should have won. I guess that's why I was expecting Surfs Up to be crappy.

A lot of 3D movies are formulaic, family friendly shit, and those suck, but I have to say I like most of what Pixar does and there are a handful of other good ones. It's just too unbalanced right now, there is too much 3D and very little traditional 2D in American theaters these days, but 2D will never completely die out.

Interesting pieces. It has been stated before (and by me previously) that the blood looks wrong, so I won't go into that.

1st pic; why is the boombox so tiny, I've never seen one like that, a cassette for that would be about the size of a Gameboy Advance game, and those size cassettes are for voice recording and answering machines, not music, so there wouldn't be one in a boombox. Instead of drawing everything scaled down some elements need to be larger for the sake of their use. You can have a tiny boombox, that's fine, but certain components need to be their regular size or it doesn't work. I don't like the veiny white eyes very much, they're too narrow and pointy on the ends and the veins look random and wormy rather than branching off from larger veins to smaller ones like a tree; veins. I think his face needs darker tones for him to look more 3Dish and some texture would be nice.

Actually, I have to talk about the blood, sorry. Maybe you can salvage it by rotating the whole image a bit to the clockwise, at least then the blood would be falling the right way instead of magically flowing off to the right, all the blood is falling at the same angle, so it would work.

2nd pic: lighting seems random and there isn't enough darkness. The lips are alright but the teeth look like chipped porcelain, and they need to recede into darkness. The anatomy on the teeth and mouth is kind of bad, study your mouth for awhile in a mirror and look at where the teeth go. I also think that one side of the mouth should be pushed forward by the nail thing, rather than being a normal open mouth with some violence added on later.

It's good that you're practicing, keep at it. =]

I'd say it looks painterly. Things aren't always about fine detail, go look at some impressionism for awhile and learn to love thick brush strokes. I'm not really a fan of when something is too refined.

@OP: I like the style but I'm not crazy about the content, if that makes sense. I like the way you're defining the shapes and are using limited palate with a thick brush, but the face isn't great.

Yes yes, we get it, it's Anime/Manga style not exactly original, once somethings been pointed out we should all resist that urge to post it again and again.

I'd say it is an excellent illustration and I like the stark contrast, black and white, simple. Thumbs up.

Response to: Is this good so far? Posted October 22nd, 2007 in Game Development

Not very good in the animation department I'm afraid and it's something that has been through the portal infinity times, terribly unoriginal. Obviously the art is bad being stick figures and all and their bodily dimensions are constantly changing. No sound...

The things at the beginning and end seem random, with a stick fight in the middle of it. Even if it were a lot longer it would still be what it is, a bad stick fight.

Don't see the relevance, but okay.

NGR won't be made into a console game. Alien Hominid was reprogrammed from scratch and Dan redid all the art for the console release. There is no tool for making a .swf or .fla into a console game, it would all have to be redone and it would be catering to such a tiny portion of the population. Who, apart from NG regulars, would buy it? What company would publish a game that only a tiny sliver of people want?

I love NGR, Neg, MindChamber and Luis are all amazing at what they do, but I'd rather see what new stuff they each come up with than play NGR on Wii.

Anyway, this shouldn't be in the Flash forum, so wave bye -bye.

I think the Street Fighter connect sprites look out of place, they're way too cartoony for Mortal Kombat. I don't remember but does MK even have connect sprites?

Otherwise it looks pretty good for a sprite movie, if you finish it it'll probably grab you a daily top 5.
