Much needed bump!

I'm about to buy my own scanner... Thus I'd be able to post in the forums more often.
And what do I do then?
This:
DigiDoodles 01:
That's all what I'll be able to do with a tablet until I can get the hang of it...
But damn me if I let a fucking piece of hardware gets over me.
So that's why I'm posting this here so everybody can see. I'll try to practice as often as I can.
Hope I can improve soon...

Well, that's what I was going to do when I saw the drawing. I liked it very much, that pastel colors and I loved the muzzle, and I thought it was really cute. In fact, I recognized your username... I have your "pigshit" in my HDD and I even drew it in my sketchbook 'cause I liked that design...

The Boston Baked Crab:
Submission maneuver considered as "lethal" by most wrestling associations. Similar to the usual backbreaker, the main difference is that the agressor seem unpervious to external estimulus, thus being unable to notice the "tap out" palming on the mat or the end match ring bell.
Pression is applied continously until major damage is done to the spine.

Stay safe. Don't try this at home.

When you're a kid you can be a major ass... Probably they don't understand yet how cool is to see your favourite characters in an art style different than the one they were originally made...
... But, just for sure, I'd like to point out that this is not a fanart thread... A kid can ask you to draw a doggie, a police car, a flying whale... Or a portrait.
But it's interesting to notice that kids usually ask you to draw the characters of their favorite cartoons, or the ones found in their stationery items... It's an interesting matter of study.

I haven't drawn for my roomie's son yet but he's not old enough to ask so maybe in a few years I can have a proper reply to this thread XD

As soon they start to talk, the real headche begins, you know... At least you'll be "Auntie Mandie", the one who will spoil the brat!

And now, for the last one, something to blow some steam off.
I noticed my cousin had a pair of Tinker Bell stickers on her room. That's enough excuse for me to have another go at Tink.
Ahh, Tink... She manages to warm the heart of little and big girls alike (and boys too).

Well, that's all for now... Now it's your turn.

The Smile of a Child...

Response to: The Smile of a Child... Posted April 22nd, 2010 in Art

I noticed that my little cousin really digs Phineas & Ferb. So, having still a lot of room in the sheet of paper, I thought to surprise her with some bonus.
I used a reference for all these drawings. But don't get me miserunderstood: I don't even try to copy the drawings. I really suck bad at copying and that's something I'm not proud of. So what I do is stare at the screen and try hard to get the clues of the style, the proportions of each character... If there's something I can't get very well, I try to find some other valid way to approach the trouble (Hands and feet were the most problematic in this one.). You can go and compare it with some images and try to find the differences.

Now, Hello Kitty.
While I was drawing this one the only thing I could think of was "Why I can't use CorelDRAW for this one?..." (Answer: Because I can't print it out.)
Guys, honestly: It's not fun at all to draw this feline free-hand. Most of the charm of this character resides in its simple, crisp-lined look. More crisp than my humanoid hands can handle.
Oh, at least I can use this as some sort of benchmark to test my new colour markers and my white gel-ink pen.
Apart from that... Meh. <:,(

The Smile of a Child... Posted April 22nd, 2010 in Art

...is the most beautiful thing in this world, they say.
...
..."So... What's the trap?" You may be asking now.
Well, the trap is that there is no trap.

The day before yesterday, We had to care after my little cousin, a 10 year-old girl. While she were doing her homework, she asked me, all of a sudden, to draw her Minnie Mouse. "For what?" I asked her. "The teachers are allowing us to pin up drawings in the classroom." she replied. "But as soon as they even look into the drawing, everybody will know you haven't drawn it." I warned her. But she told me it didn't matter, she just wanted to bring a hand-drawn Minnie to the classroom...
"Well, I'll see what I can do." And I put myself into it, referencing it from a little notebook she brought with her. Some time passed, and the drawing was finished.
She was already expectant when I handed her the tiny sheet of paper. She was watching the process and she asked me how much time took me to draw like that (tough question.) and inquiered my mother if she drew so well too (Her answer was "no".). So she took her Minnie Mouse into her school trolley and went back to her home.
Yesterday, she asked me for another Minnie. And a Hello Kitty too. Now she wanted them for herself. It seems that the little thing regretted somehow having to leave the piture at the school...
What you're going to see now is the fruits of what I've been doing yesterday.

NOTE: THIS IS AN OPEN THREAD. THAT MEANS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE, TOO.
Do you deal with kids often? Did you had to make drawings for them?
If you do, try to scan them before handling them off and share your requests with your fellow NGrounders.
'Cause you know, kids ask for the darndest things.

Now, for the first one (of four): The second Minnie Mouse.

I was zapping channels and I saw Fresh Prince of Bel-Air... And I asked me: Which of the NG characters would look rad rapping and clowning around?...
... And my answer wasSteve. I thought he'd be really funny emarrasing himself trying to rap ghetto-style with the combined talents of Vanilla Ice, Snow and William Shatner...
Hey, I thought it would be funny, not "original"...
I also devised a logo, but I had to scrap it 'cause I didn't look at the measures required, so I just improvised those arrows... As if the character hadn't been improvised enough.
I think this one would look neat-o with some kind of scrolling background, switching colors and such visual stuff... If you want the .fla file of this drawing, just ask for it.
Anyway, I really hope you like it.

Alien 3 and Resurrection are not good, but yet, Alien 3 is still interesting and being an unsucessful project (After 4 directors, 7 scripts and millions of $ wasted in pre-production, it'd been a miracle if that came out good.) it still manages to bear its own identity in the series, as Alien and Aliens do.
Which is more that we can say of Resurrection. Just an unispired Aliens exploit boring as all hell that can be better adressed as a "product" instead of a "movie", 'cause that's what it really is: A calculated run-for-cover devised by the producers to please all Aliens fanboys that got disappointed by Alien 3.

BTW, the rumours of Ridley Scott making a prequel don't make me rejoice with happiness, precisely.
