Topic: Stereo speakers with computer?

Posted: 07/01/09 10:29 PM

Forum: General

So I found my old "mini hifi" stereo system today!
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4 1-638mS7OL._SL500_AA240_.jpg)
And I've been thinking about using the speakers with my computer, thing is though, each speaker is split into two wires (one red, one black). So four wires total..

I know I'd have to split some wires and deal with an amplifier to do this, so my question is exactly how I should go about doing this?

Also, has anyone else used stereo speakers with their computer, and is the sound better/worse?

Yeah I like it, but now that schools out, I really only ever use it at work and in my car, and the adapter I have in my car charges it as well so It doesn't really run out of battery that much (even though the continuous re-charging might destroy the battery)

So I plugged my ipod into my computer to put some music on it, and when I did, the current notepad I had open popped to the front of the screen and asked if I would like to save my work. At this point I simply thought "wtf...I didn't click close" so ignoring this, I clicked cancel thinking that it was some mistake.
After said action, everything started shutting down, and at this time I was thinking "WtF......my ipod has been haxored?!.....or apple just hates me.."
I was leaning more towards the second excuse. Well at this point my entire computer had finally shut down, and it left me pondering at what could have caused it....
So I went to unplug my ipod, and that is when I discovered.........
.
.
.dun dun dUUNNNNN......I pressed the on/off switch when I plugged in my ipod (as it is right next to the usb port)

Well that's the story, and well I'm going to get something to eat....so post anything regarding my stupidity or just ignore this and click the back button on your browser...(which most will do)

Well this is pretty much my first attempt at some sort of making the 'computer' move on it's own and react to the user (ie: gunfire, movement, etc..).

It's just a test (A, S, D, mouse) to play, any C & C would be great.
(Also, the level number reflects on the speed + health, not necessarily the 'intelligence')

Yeah that what I was kind of hoping to make it like (Not a perfect remake of Resident Evil) but the basic concept. Either you can choose to be the 'Zombie hunter' or a be the living dead and feast on wondering people. Both with different story lines.

Yeah, like I said, it's just a start, so obviously I'll update the graphics (Knowing that I'm not the ultimate when it comes to graphics + flash, they probably won't the the "l33t").

But I'll speed up the character and bullets both.

Also, I was probably going to make it into a multi-room game and stuff.

Although I did think about making it into a multiplayer game, where you must register and choose to be a zombie or civilian and play the game throughout that way. I've made games before like that, so I might instead, turn towards that direction when making the game.

But thanks for the feedback :)

Well I saw a text-based zombie game today and liked the idea of the game, but really didn't enjoy the 'text' part and having to go through many refreshed pages and such.

So I decided to put together a small 'zombie' game for my own entertainment.

This isn't anywhere close to even being considered done, but hey...it's a first right?

The game is at:

http://img95.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gamet un0.swf

Movements:

ASDW - Moving
Mouse - Aim / Firing

your the blue dude and the green dudes are the "Zombies"

there's some extra ammo at the top

again, this is just a test game, just to see if I should even think about continuing it

so any comments/suggestions/questions/etc... then please feel free to just reply back :)

Topic: Php: Secure Navigation

Posted: 06/25/06 06:24 PM

Forum: Programming

Ok lets see here, my navigation system is roughly 18 lines long,
and it will stay that length unless if you add more pages which will only add ONE line of code.

But if you use a switch navigation, each time you want to add a new page, thats adding 3 more lines of code:
case 'page':
//code here
break;

6 pages later, your going to have the same length as my navigation, and then much more each time you add more pages and code for each.

But use whatever floats your boat.

Switch navs aren't as good, sure they're easy but they don't shorten the script, with my script you can simply make a whole new page, but with switch navs you'll end up having 100's of lines of code that can make the page quite slow. Unless of course you use an include func in each case.

But still its not going to shorten the script.

Really now, it doesnt work?

Ok first off just READING tutorials and books and not doing any hands on learning wont give you any huge knowledge on PHP, sure it'll tell you how to do things.

BUT if you actually get codes that other people have made, and modify them and learn about what does what, it's a lot faster and more interesting then just stuffing a book in your nose all day.

But most importantly is HOW you tend to learn the best. If your a hands on learner, I suggest doing what I said to do.

Or if your more of just a visual learner, then I suggest what TCStyle said to do.

Actually, the way you should learn php, is to download many premade scripts, and just try and test your knowledge by modifying them certain ways and making them do different things. This will give you a rough overview of what the scripts do and how to basically put your immagination to the test.

True, but since there is an array with pages that people are ONLY allowed to view, you really cant have any injections to override it, because if you use something like:
?page=config
and try to view the config file, and if the file isn't viewable through the array, then it will just redirect the user back to the main page.

Topic: Php: Secure Navigation

Posted: 06/16/06 01:40 PM

Forum: Programming

Ok in this tutorial, I will teach you how to create a secure PHP navigation through including files.
Basically another way to use stuff like: ?page=this, etc..

Ok first off I'll just post the entire code:
<?php
$allowed_pages = array(
'about',
'members',
'admincp',
'forum'
);
if(!$_GET['page'] || !in_array($_GET['page'],$allowed_pages)){
$page = "home";
}else{
$page = $_GET['page'];
}
if($page == "home"){
echo "Welcome to the main page!";
}else{
require($page.".php");
}
?>

Ok now to break it down:
<?php
$allowed_pages = array(
'about',
'members',
'admincp',
'forum'
);

This assigns the variable $allowed_pages an array(or list) with all the pages you wish for the users allowed to view.

if(!$_GET['page'] || !in_array($_GET['page'],$allowed_pages)){
$page = "home";
}else{
$page = $_GET['page'];
}
This will check if the current page the user is trying to view: ?page=BLAH is in the list we made earlier, if it isn't, then the variable $page will be set as 'home' (to send the user to the home page), otherwise it will set the $page variable as ?page='THIS'

if($page == "home"){
echo "Welcome to the main page!";
}else{
require($page.".php");
}
?>

This will be the content part of your site, it will first check if the $page variable we assigned earlier is set to 'home', if it is, then it will just print out 'Welcome to the main page'(you can always change that to something else or another block of code). If the $page variable isn't set to 'home', then it will simply require the file from the server into that page(which will display all the file contents onto the page).

Pretty cruddy tutorial, but it might help somebody out :)

Any questions / comments then please reply. :D

It may not be easy for YOU to crack, but to others it might be, it's all in experience and knowledge.

And you can decrypt a md5 through a hell of a lot of forelse loops but takes a hell of a long time to do so. So it might not be bruteforcing in your mind but, in a way it is. And google backing you up, wow, search for something and you'll get about 50,000 different OPINIONS on it. So technically google can't back you up on it.

Bruteforcing is not cracking ;)

It's all the same :)

For one, I never said that I could crack a md5, I just said it's easy to crack them for people that know how to. All you need to do is use a bunch of forelse loops, and everysingle known character that could be used in a password, and of course and very good host. Yes I've done it before, but only for a few character long passwords, because of course, hosts aren't that reliable when it comes to bruteforcing (yes thats how you must do it).

So yeah I'm sorry I kind of shouted about how its easy to crack them, I'm just trying to say it's better to be safe then sorry.

It's a LOT easier to crack a md5 then you know.

And if you use multiple encrytions then encrypt it again then use your own encryption and then maybe cut the string in half, and do more stuff to it, it will not only make the decryption a longer process but won't guarentee success for the "hacker".

But if you just have ONE simple encryption verses multiple complicated executions, which one would you choose?
