4.07 / 5.00 10,082 ViewsI'm really proud of this one. Done using charcoal and graphite on paper in two days. It was a project that was due today in class dealing with surrealism. Any critiques or suggestions because I can change a few things before I turn it in on wednesday. I already plan on working more on the planet on the left and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the beam of light.
First of five sketches I'm going to do to prepare for an abstraction drawing project. I'm pretty excited about how all this stuff may turn out.
I had a little square picture of a mountain and basically just extrapolated from it. I'll be doing some similar things with other pictures.
Homework assignment for drawing class. It's a small section of my contour drawing blown up and shaded. This is the first time I've used charcoal.

Yeah it is, I'll fix that. I'm thinking about adding rain and maybe buildings in the background. Or maybe thunderclouds and some lightning.
Also thinking about adding some wear and tear to their suits like what happens in Arkham City.
I'm trying to double major in business and studio art right now. I recently started getting serious about art less than a year ago (I've always sketched and doodled, but stopped during high school). I personally think I've made a ton of progress overall (although I haven't taken many classes yet, so most of it's from practicing and challenging myself).
Loving your art though, lots of great stuff here. Do you have a deviantart account or something? I've had one for year but only recently became truly active.
Another update on the batman catwoman pic.
Here's a contour drawing I just did for my drawing class. Not sure if completely finished. Basically random stuff from my room.
Yeah drawing on paper is way easier than drawing on my ipad imo.
Also lemurs are awesome.
I'm gonna start drawing in a sketchbook more.

Not necessarily me, but there is a bit of a resemblance so... SURE!!! :)

I submitted it to the artportal.

Yeah I tried some new things with that drawing. I think I'll be doing more similar to that one for now on. :)

Thanks, awesome lineart by the way.
Here's something different. I used the new updated Artstudio. I might start doing more drawing like this because it looks pretty awesome in my opinion and it a lot quicker than what I usually do. This is just WIP.

Wow. Your paintings are awesome. Heh, I'd prefer seeing this flood the top pages rather than a bunch of cartoon porn.
But yeah, you're really talented. It'd be cool to see some non pornographic art too.
Started working on this old WIP from a while back. Artstudio (an app I use sometimes) had a big update recently. For some reason I've had some trouble having all my strokes register using my stylus.

I rounded it since then. You can see in the newer update for it.
WIP Update on batman and catwoman.
Very cool style got going here man. Keep up the good work.
WIP on my first drawing for drawing class. This one's got me a bit excited. It's been a while since I drew non-digitally. I think it's a lot easier. I think I'll go back and digitally enhance this one after I'm finished.
Took the picture on my 3gs so it's not that great of a picture. I might call it breakthrough.

Yeah that's deviantart... Hell people will just repost other people's art with changed color or something photoshopped onto it and people will love them for it.

Yeah you do...
I do too (which is why I mostly do paintings of faces).

In a short answer, no. In a one word letter longer than the last answer, hell no.
The biggest issue is you have light bouncing all over the place.
I've illustrated some of the multiple light sources you have in your picture. Their is no consistency.
For the most part, your only going to need one Key light. And if you feel that isn't enough Try looking in to basic Three Point Lighting.
Those two should solve most of your basic lighting situations. Get those down before worrying about anything more fancy.
You want some other advice? Stop making threads for every damn little thing. Its annoying. Since the mods are obviously being as nice as they can, I'm sure pushing your luck with all these little threads isn't going to raise your standing with anyone. So Pick a thread and stick to it.
That's some damn good advice. That was inciteful for me as well.
But yeah like he said. If you want to get better at shading you need to start with some a lot more simple and go from there. Using references to figure out how light and shadows cast across figures helps a lot too.
Really complicated wings are going to be hell to shade well if your still trying to figure out how to shade.
