i want to do a sugar skull raffy!
I also want to bling him out with plastic gemmys where ever they fit and look good. I want to use the gems around the paws too.
i know the paws look a little rough here i didnt know how to convey clear shiny plastic.
And then my take on the step feather we were only suppose to do one, originally I want to do five leaves/feathers but then it got complicated.
So as of late I haven't really been making to much art, I just started school this semester and I'm taking the to most demanding fundamental art classes possible! Woo go self. In 2D were just goign over elements of design it's a bit of a snore especially because well it's at 8 in the morning. I'm also taking 3D design which I'm extremely excited about, but the beginning projects are a pain in my ass. It's all about precision and makign perfect scores and perfect cuts right now, I'm so thrilled to finally get to the creative aspect of the class tonight. So here are some of the precision projects thus far. A very slight curve, a deeper curve, an extreme curve and something called the step feather. All of these are cut from vellum finish bristol board.

I'd like to think its just a really tiny shark

Shark kabobbins.
My favorite part of this piece is the piece of pineapple and the red onion.
And the little bone that sticks out the shark that is in no way part of his anatomy.
I've been tring to work with more definitive lines, more in a tattoo esque style. Because the more I think about it the mor eI think I want to do that after art school.
The last bowls just plain and just a nice trip job. Wheel throwings something I hope I can pick back up in college
Heres the bottom of the second bowl this was made after I was doen throwing and carving it ont he weheel I just wanted to add some interesting texture to it. Especially because it was still a little too thick so it was a cheap way to thin it out and not put it back on the wheel and center it.
Heres the bottom of the one bowl it was made using one of the carving tools and just spinning on the wheel.
My favorite medium is by far fibers but another favorite I learned is wheel thrown ceramics.
It's tough to make nice bowls.
The nice thing about them isnt the bowls themselves but the carving done in the sides and bottoms.

Here's another batik for your view pleasure though.

Ahhh watercolors, they can produce such nice pieces.
Wish I had the slightest idea of how to use them
The only way to really learn to use them is to get them and just play around with them. They have little like 15 buck sets at like every art store. I started out making just really simple color studies and tested how much water affected each color is a really fun learning process.

I always get the feeling that felting is really limiting your abilities... its so hard to get certain details... then again it is a quite different way to use fabrics.... and I guess limits can actually stimulate creativity...
Felting does smelly though.
Theres alot you can do with felting to like needle point felting my friend made this sweet squid that was all needle point felting and he was prettttty sweet.
An not to go all animal rights activist but most sheep are bread to have wrinkly skin because the wool grows better or somthing and when they go to shear them the skin gets sheared too sometimes :c
This is just something Im working on dealing with space its on a pieces of watercolor I might go back in and paint it.
Also as a futrure project I might take some ballons and string yarn around them and glue it in place to get the same kind of effect.
Water color quadtych painting
Acid Trees
Just another one of the hankercheifs I plan to make more in orange and red hopefully. and they are for sale.
The thing about original art:
nothing original anymroe and you can only try to as original as possible. Still lifes and and self portraits and observation drawings arent going to be original. I don't think I've ever seen an original still life. I personally think that a 15 pount all crocheted collar and a jelly fish dyed from white fabric with crochetwear on is original I've personally never seen it, but hey thats thats just me. I know id be orignal if i was painting diy toys and doing computer art just like everyone else on here.
This is a hankercheif I batiked which I feel I should explain since most people dont know what the fuck it is. It's a process of dying where you start with the lightest color wax off the part that you want to saty that color and go to the next color and you keep going daraker and darker until your done. Then you have to iron all the wax out which is the biggest pain in the ass ever if you want the fabric to get back to its original softness. A freiend of mine drew up the silk screened image he just let me use it for the hanckercheifs cause we agreed theyd look sweet as all hell.
Of all the fiber arts form and there are so many I would have to say my favorites are felt and dyeing. I love felting. IT's so cool and very hands on and smells really weird. Once I get to school in january I hope feltings something they have the facilities for. I do feel pretty bad for the sheepies that have to get sheered. ouch.
An upclose shot of the crochet work on the jellyfish piece.
I'd like to post more of the close up because this piece is 6 feet long be two feet wide. it's huge so you loose alot of detail without the close up shots.
I'll get to it in about a half hour.
This is a jelly fish batik I did, I am not happy witht he way I turned out, theres way to much red on the jellysfish. It should have been alot orangeier. I might go back and re do it but batiking is one long ass process, that ends in funny colored hands and lots of ironing. Which makes me not want to do it.
This is just a shot of the pattern thats woven into the scarf. Diamonds cuz checkers are boring.
This is a scarf I wove my during high school It's nothing special but I thought it was definitely something interesting I got to learn that most people don't get to.

I used a bristol paper and just drawing pencils from h-b8. Some of it is messy do my own hand but this was way to big to scan so some of its blurry from the photograph. 20x24
I like the color and gesture, but kind of wish that this was embroidered or done with thread, rather than pens.
Thats a really cool idea and something I would like to try with the scribble shading technique I'm so found of. At the time I was just trying to bang out still lifes for my portfolio. I got jipped out of my first choice for art school last minute and had like a month to get everything done to try and make spring semester for another school. so it was just liek go go go go.
As for something new. My area of concentration has been and hoepfully will continue to be fiber arts. This is a crochet piece I worked on for a long time. It currently lives at an after school art program I was an intern at.
