Hey everyone, just posting so people don't think I'm dead.

I can still voice act, I just can't find the time to be active on the BBS.

Question: I've listened to pretty much everyone's examples up here and most of you guys don't have static in your lines, how do you do that? (other than noise reduction; I use it sometimes in cool edit but overdoing it makes it sound metallic) Any advice? (even when the mic is not plugged in it still gets static when recording for some reason)

It could be interference. The most common cause is the microphones wire touching another wire, causing electrical noise. But, since you still get it without the mic, there could be interference elsewhere, this can be caused by wireless connections nearby (cell phone, router, anything wireless). Your sound card could be the problem also. It may be low quality, old, or there could be interference coming from inside it (i.e. the record input could be touching something that it shouldn't be)

As far as I can tell, they were acted well. But when you said, "But I" the" I" seemed to be breaking up. I think it might be because the microphone you have can't make a peak clear at that length.

I think you did the voice for the part well, however, I never liked listening to Navi.

In a few spots, the word emphasis seemed like it could have been better. This could've been because the flash maker didn't give a good enough illustration of how it should be said, he doesn't really know what will sound good, or the lines weren't practiced enough. Those aren't the only reasons why, it's just what I thought it might have been.

I hope this is the constructive criticism you were looking for.

I say the line out loud a few times, then try recording it. It usually doesn't take me that long to get a line right.

C: is the label of a hard drive on your computer. If I enter that into the address bar of IE, it will go the C: on my computer.

You must upload the file to webspace in order for others to be able to view it.

I don't understand the problem, if you needed someone with different humour, go to another source for voice actors.

I, personally, can do whatever humor you want me to do. If you want zany, I'll be zany. If you want dry, I can be dry. Many voice actors could change their humor if you give them time also (If they are good).

If you go here, click skip intro, and then click characters, there are voice samples.

I could be Hae Zues, cool character, kinda suites me.

I don't know if he'll change his mind, but I already did all the lines for Hae Zeus.

I actually only made a trial run at the voice (for the first time), I did all the lines one after another and recorded them for him to sample before I made the perfect clips. He asked me what name I wanted in the credits, so I don't believe he wants me to bother with a second recording.

I never said they were. This is pretty much the only topic I come to the BBS to read, I'd like it if people were talking about voice acting in it.

If this is a club, shouldn't we have some "scheduled activities"?

Might be nice if one of us periodically gave out a general scenario and we all voiced our take on a designated character (except the person who came up with the scenario).

Very similar to that idea, is we get an artist to create a scene, and then a few of us make clips to match that scene. This one may or may not be good as a competition, but it might be nice to have voice acting jams submitted.

I preferthis over e-mail.

There are breath sounds in the beginning. I didn't feel that fixing was needed, since this isn't a real line.

Response to: Find A Voice Actor Thread Posted September 22nd, 2004 in Game Development

I've been wanting to do more voice acting roles recently, but no one seems to want my voice now (ironic?). As I was watching the newgrounds versus (the one on the front page right now), I can't help but redo the lines in my head right after they are said (Gel's movie is the one with voices). I felt they could have been done better. I don't feel that the actors are not good, but that the lines were not worked on enough. I noticed this with my own voice acting, I'll do a line, and then the producer of the flash says it's good and leaves it at that. Even if it is good, don't settle on the first take. I feel that lines should always be given time, even though I do not stress it when someone takes my first take.

On a side note, something that I feel should be used a LOT more than it is, is voluming to compensate for distance, or actually creating distance between the actor and the microphone. Most of the time, I only hear two distance volumes; Foreground and Background. For example, someone speaking as if the screen were a camera in front them, sounds the same as someone standing behind him. This level of detail would make ALL flash work, that do not already use it, much better.

I want to work on these myself. If you're a voice actor, whether you think I am right or wrong, please just think about it, if this helps you in any way to increase your quality of work, you'll be helping not just by better entertaining, but also through example to other people.

I haven't been around for a while eh? Well, I've been busy, but I can do voice work again. I even got a 4 port USB hub so I don't have to switch my accessories around. Link to my acting should be in my sig.

I read up to three pages back to see if I could find what you needed voices for, but I either missed it because I was bedazzled by the amount of spam or I just didn't get to it yet because it's been followed by said spam.

What kind of voices are you looking for?

"Who wants to voice act in my movie?"

The people in the thread do, hopefully people will read this thread before posting.

I was sick for a few days and my throat is just now clearing up, hopefully it will be completely clear by morning. If I seem to have been ignoring anyone that wanted voice work from me, please tell me since I can now do it.

Could be electrical disturbance. Make sure the cord for the mic is not touching any other cords on it's way to your computer tower.

I'm not sure why people ask me to make the dialogue for their samples, I won't do it.

I'm not asking for you to tryout for a movie or anything, I just want to hear what you can do.

But I suppose I could make a small dialogue that all of us voice actors here could do, just to compare and use as a reference to improve our work.
