There is a lesson to learn from this: Always buy bikes from specialists.
Lmao. Halfords is a specialist.
Are you kidding? They are the opposite of specialists. Their bike specialists are kids still at school or college with no knowledge of bikes at all. The fact most of their bikes come pre-assembled in cardboard boxesshould be an indicator of that.
I went to a decent bike shop to mine and couldn't have been happier - they put all of their employees through several training courses before they are allowed to touch the bikes.
My brother used to work at halfords, and fucking hated it. He's been riding bikes for well over 10 years and had built his own bikes in the past, so knew a hell of a lot. Some of the people he was working with barely knew how to use a screwdriver.
Oh, and here's my bike, well not actually mine - mines pretty much scratched to hell and several of the components have been replaced - thankfully by the skilled employees at the bike shop I go to for free under guarantee. It helps that I ride with the owner of the shop I guess.
