The measure of any great civilization has always been how they treat their women. There are problems in america, but it could be much, much worse.

actually strike that, I forgot Alito was confirmed.

Response to: Why do you think many people hate.. Posted February 3rd, 2006 in Politics

The reason people hate hillary is because she is a powerful women bent on fucking shit up. If you're a 72 year old congressman in your 34th term, you really aren't in a mood for change. They would probably do everything possible to convince the media to send her back to the kitchen.

People aren't used to people like hillary

if he was a libertarian, he would've wiped us out because were always asking him for help.

This is kind of a ridiculous topic, but if he were anything, he would definitely be a commie, seeing how his son was telling people to share, feeding five thousand people when he barely had enough for himself.

A feeble attempt at open dialogue. Posted February 3rd, 2006 in Politics

(I know this isn't quite political, seeing as every sinngle other "god is dead" thread is in politics, I figured that this was my demographic. Forgive me, this is rushed and possibly incoherent, seeing as everything else I do follows that route.)

Let's come out and say it, any organization dealing with beliefs and ethics touting numbers in the billions will prove problematic.

Organized Religion has caused many problems in society, but you can't really blame the diety hinself.

Let's take wal-mart. Millions shop there, are drawn in by the promise of low prices and quality, and 24 hour convenience. In the name of low prices, Wal-Mart has destroyed countless lives, from workers in america to those in third world countries. They have destroyed much of the previous competition in america, and stolen millions from the government in healthcare and subsidies. I hate wal-mart. Does that mean that I should denounce all capitalism? Look what capitalism has done! Look at the damage it causes! No one really benifite at walmart except from those in charge. What excuse have I to shop? No one should shop, what is wrong with people, shopping is nothing more than the opiate of the masses!

Now If i said that people should stop shopping because Wal-Mart is corrupt (much like the church is corrupt), you would be very well justified in calling me an idiot. Yet if someone goes to a catholic school for 12 years and gets screwed over, they are not seen as fools for claiming that there is no god and that religion is horrible and should no longer exist. Anyone can read a book by nietzsche and believe they know everything. Nietzsche was nothing more than a man who hated his life and his body and decided to vent his rage by devoting his life to convincing everyone god does not exist. Everything he writes is an assault on the church, there is no justified attack on the diety himself.

It appears as if every other one of these religion bashers' problems lie in the church, not in god. Have you ever read the bible? Fundamentalist Christians are by no means living by Christ's principles. Jesus was against the death penalty, pro taxes, and a pacifist. People are the problem. Atheism (through communism) caused the death of millions, just like other major religions. I do not believe it is correct to say our society is too advanced to still believe in god. As any society becomes greater, more and more people are left dsenfranchised, and religion is an easy way for them to feel content. It may be the "opiate of the masses," but is that necissarily a bad thing?

There is no basis in christianity for hatred of homosexuals, xenophobia, racism, hatred of any sort really. These principles were all interposed with the actually religion by the preists, whom were all too often politicians.

Every single valid religion preaches the same "golden rule". Atheism however does not. Communism is the only possible excuse, but history has shown us that only the fools would buy into the concept that stalin was killing for their good. Unless you are a fool who believes you are better than everyone else and therefore have no obligation to society, I would advise keeping an open mind when discussing religion.

Heil Bush, the SS are just about to be formed in America.

Way to be lame. How about, Bush is an incompetent president, without any respect to the rest of the world. He understands nothing of normal life, except how to cure a hangover. His cronies control america like it's their playground, and the people are too stupid to realize what is going on (a majority anyway.)

Bush is horrible, but remember, odds are that you voted for him (assuming you voted.)

As an aside, what does that sentence form your post have to do with the Iraqi Insurgency?

maybe, they dont like how "liberal" america is, although it is in fact very conservative, and they are the fattest state, and the most bigoted and hateful and arrogant of them all, but we cant let them.

If they seceeded, it would undermine our values, and threaten to destabillize our fragile economy. they cant be allowed to leave

Jesus actually was against organized religion, read his gospel sometime, it was rejected by the church.

people should practice however they want to. Do we need organized religion? no. do we need guns? no. do we need celery? no. but its going to exist anyways, so lets move on.

better question. Do we need celery?

antisemitism doesnt seem to be as much of a problem as it was, i dont hate jews, i accept the fact that if they hadn't "killed" jesus, than i wouldnt have a place in heaven. so they get points for that. Jesus' whole message was don't hate. If you hate jews, you aren't a true christian. thats all there is to it
