I came from the VAA and VAC and I remember on the VAC they had a Sticky thread for anyone to post their demo in the thread and then the first post of the thread would be mod-edited to add any new demos so that any posted demos are all in one place on one post. Kinda similar to how Tom had a few demos posted in that original news announcement of this forum. The VAA allowed for personal Demo posts as well, but they had an entire forum for demos alone. I'm not too familiar with how the forums work here on newgrounds as I only occasionally come onto them, but I think that would help keep things tidier AND easier for project creators to find voices if the Open Mic thread were Stickied to the top of the forum at all times, with an updated first-post similar to the one they have on the VAC.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of personal threads since there's no sub-forums here, but if that's what the majority wants I won't complain. Just so long as I don't have to scroll through a ton of pages of "here's my demo leave feedback pls" before I find an audition/project thread.

I hate and love that we're always improving and getting better, especially beginners. So on projects that take a long time to come out, when they finally do, everyone is listening to and commenting on OLD voice acting work. It's almost like looking back at an old sketchbook for those of you who draw. When you drew it, it was your best, and looking back on it now, you can see every inconsistency. Same thing with me and my voice acting! GRRR.
That's exactly how I feel about stuff that I've been in recently haha. Like most of the animations that I voiced for are just recently coming out and I'm just like waugh! Especially when there's a lot of people commenting that they didn't like my performance and I'm just sitting there reading it like "I KNOWWWW I CAN DO SO MUCH BETTER NOWWWWW" lol
Here's my voice demo!
Bryson Baugus - 2014 Character Voice Acting Demo Reel
Oh wow! Tom actually put my demo on the main sticky post of this forum! I feel flattered haha! Especially since I just found out about this new voice acting forum today!! Thanks tom!
Hello there! My name is Bryson and I recently uploaded my 2014 Character Demo to the portal here and figured I would advertise myself here as well.
If you would like to use my voice in an animation or video game project, please contact me through my email at baugusbryson@yahoo.com! Please be sure to show me some previous projects you have worked on as I prefer to work with people who have had experience creating content. Thank you!
Bryson Baugus - 2014 Character Voice Acting Demo Reel
why did I JUST find out about this? Now I have ot do something for it soon!
Either way, I'm beyond logical reason.

Honestly, if you're trolling about this whole thing then that's honestly a really good troll-move. And if so, hats off to you.
If not though (And you're serious about this whole thing), then it's obvious you are one of those people that are beyond reasoning with.
At 10/23/11 02:24 AM, Animator1mike wrote: I can take a critique, it's just that you can't submit a decent one.
And that's the type of immaturity I'm talking about.
I have not given you or ANY submission a critique yet because I DON'T want to do exactly what you think I'm going to do. When I give a critique, I don't want it to be some short, 2 or 3 sentence praise/bash. Honestly I was hesitant to be involved with with contest at all because I knew that we'd get reactions such as yours.
I honestly see no point in continuing discussion with you on here. You can expect my critique to be up on your submission sometime this week.
Now I'm off to do things that are actually pertinent to my life rather than dwelling on some stupid e-drama.
@River: Actually, I think I'll do that now!
Humor was not a factor in judging.
Writing was only a minimal factor in judging.
pitching was not against the rules, it was only looked down upon, and I can say (at least on my part) that it did affect the way I judged range by at least 4-5 points out of the total 20 (depending on how much the pitching was used.)
I do apologize that I did not have any critiques for you guys alongside my number results that I sent to josh. I do plan on giving critiques to every entry (the only reason I didn't leave comments for these yet is because being a senior in high school with a job and being involved in a play that has rehearsals that go as late as 8PM on weekdays tends to get pretty busy)
If it will make you guys feel better I can comment with critiques on the submissions of those who seem to have problems with the way this turned out (or at least one of them since the other seems to have removed their submission. I wonder why.)
Anyway, there is nothing to be gained from complaining about results here. If you have a problem with something involving the scores you could vent about it to your friends or something or even contact one or more of the judges. I wouldn't be able to tell you how or why you ended up in the place you did, but I would be able to tell you my opinion on your submission. But complaining on this public forum does nothing but make you look like an immature person who can't take a critique.
And if you can't take a critique, why did you even bother submitting?
Sending off my results soon! hope you guys are excited for the results!
I shall start my judging process today! because I will have no time to do so otherwise!
I know the original post doesn't really say anything about whether vocal pitching is allowed or not, but I just thought I'd put it out there that I will be counting off a few range points (not anything too harsh though) if contestants resort to using vocal-pitching to attain a character voice. I personally believe vocal range should mean what you can pull off using your voice alone without the aid of computers, so that is my reasoning; however, I have no problem with vocal effects such as reverb and whatnot as long as I can hear your voice clearly enough to be able to judge it fairly.
Anywayyy on a lighter note, I cant wait to start judging these entries and hear a few of the future ones that come in by tomorrow!

anyway, I'll judge also lol
Your a survivor of the Apocalypse, using your voice acting skills, make a speech about what happened, your thoughts and how you survived etc.
part of writing the skit is writing the scenario. If you've seen any of the previous Contests before this one, they pretty much had the same setup as well. They gave a broad theme so that the actors can use their imagination as much as possible.
And awesome Apa! Can't wait to hear ur submission!

You write the skit yourself.
anyway, I'll judge also lol
I think I can try animating for this collab, but I'm not sure yet, I'll have to think it over some more (plus I'm not that experienced in animating anyway so I'd probably be rejected anyway lol).
Anyway, I will be willing to lend my voice to anyone who needs one in this collab. I'm pretty sure RedHarvest can vouch for my quality of voice acting =P
If testimonial from Harvest isn't enough for you, I've got my demo right here for anyone who want to hear for themselves!

(doesn't have time to read all these pages of posts)
Anyway, is it too late to send something in for this?

..nah but seriously.. - head over to the audio forum and post in the voice actor wanted section :)
actually, this is more for the "voice actor advertisement" thread since this guy is asking for work, not the other way around, but yeah. This is still in the wrong section
Just thought I'd post here as well that if anyone needs a voice actor for their game just contact me! I posted some of my experience in the Lfg thread as well (around the middle of page 2)!
Voice Actor here!
I've had experience in voicing for a few flash animations/games (released AND currently unreleased) and even took part in the Movie Jam that occurred in January as part of a Team that consisted of Luis, Zachary, Rucklo, and I. If you wish to see my roles in currently released flashes, just go to my profile (they're right at the top under the "Latest Flash Submissions" section)
I also have a voice demo right here for those of you interested in using my voice and want a better idea of my range.
Click to listen.
if you would like to contact me about voicing for you, it would be preferred that you email me at baugusbryson@yahoo.com (be sure to let me know your username on newgrounds); however, sending me a PM on this site should work just as fine! =]
I lack store credit as well

Oop! didn't notice that the first time skimming through the post ^^; ignore my previous post.
Anyway, if you decide to host another contest, I definitely plan on entering again!
Whoo! Third place! :D
I've never done anything like this before so I'm assuming these will be front paged tomorrow? If not please correct me. anyway, this might sound noobish (but like I said, I've never done anything like this before) but how do we know when our prize money has been received?
At 5/2/11 03:20 PM, Suezo wrote: RESULTS.... FROM SUEZO.
Hey dudes (and Dudette?)
So there hasn't been any progress on this whole she-bang (big suprise...)
But if you haven't checked out the reviews that have been written up, you should. You'll get a pretty good idea of who's in the running but I thought since non of the actual legit reviewing and scoring stuff is yeilding the results we want, I'm going to cast my results of the big dogs:
1st Place:
Seymour
With minimal issues on all categories, Seymour's piece was short enough to stave off monotony but consise enough to convey an original and interesting theme. And that voice acting aint bad...
2nd Place:
Shock-Dingo
In his skit, Shock gave us everything essential of a radio-play: Action, Drama, Suspense and British Man Children. It was definately a pleasure to listen to and experience.
It was close between 3rd and 4th but after some re-evaluating I got to give it to...
3rd Place:
Bryson Baugus
Teds Christmas story was a simple one with the greatest theme of all: Some idiot ruining christmas for everybody else obliviously. Many entries tried to portray this unlikely senario, but it would seem the Bryson had a first hand experience with it...
And in forth only by a skin of the teeth:
4th place:
DrewDryDen
Someone is always plotting something maniacal around christmas time, I suppose it just depends who and what that plan is. Well we'll never really know what that plan was, but the back and forth between a evil villian and his snowman henchmen could have shed some light, if not for a nosey protagonist with a blow dryer.
Well...
Thats my take on it. I would encourage the rest of you to cast your opinions since its really the only thing we have left. It certainly was a pleasure collaberating with you all and I'm sure without this we would have found a way to do so anyway, but who gives a crap right?
After doing the calculations of the current official scores, it seems like I might end up in third place after all (behind you and Shock-Dingo) lol. But that's only considering that they've finished all the reviews already, but I'm not sure since I don't know how many people entered. anyway, I'm glad you placed me up there with such great entries and I'm glad you liked my story. It seems like it turned out to be one of those stories that people either loved for it's simplicity or hated for it's simplicity.
Goes back a few pages to look at the whole list lol
thanks for taking the time to post your results JaShinYa! Can't wait for the rest of the results! =3
I like how the contest was winter themed, but by the time the results are out and the winners are on the front page, no one will care since it will be spring by that time most likely
You've met with a terrible fate haven't you?
(yes I know, old meme is old, but I thought, what better way to end my "drawing a day" challenge than with a little homage to one of my personally favorite memes! =3)
Felt like doing a fanart for today's drawing of the day.
At 2/26/11 01:08 AM, DemocracyFTW wrote: All the anime has been kinda bland and run of the mill, but I like the cartoony ones.
I think part of the blandness of those kinds are because those are more practice with drawing the human figure more accurately (which I still need to improve on) rather than characters in and of themselves, but the cartoony ones are meant to "stand out" more and have their own little characteristics.
Will upload new drawing later tonight
