Response to: Revival Of the 40's-70's Posted January 3rd, 2012 in General

Because of the internet you can easily listen way more old music that you could in the actual old days.
We can listen to old AND new music, if you lived 80 years ago you would only have one choice plus it was way harder to find specific music.

Response to: Men are better singers than women Posted January 2nd, 2012 in General

There are top singers in both the male and female categories ranking so high that there is no comparison needed.

The only thing which always bothers me is that most women sing the same and therefore sound alike. There are more women who can sing then men, but to find that special woman is harder then with men.

Response to: Url Button Doesnt In Flash Port Posted January 2nd, 2012 in Game Development

Never mind the threat, the problem is fixed.

I needed to replace self with blank.

Response to: Url Button Doesnt In Flash Port Posted January 2nd, 2012 in Game Development

For example on the youtube button I have:

on (release) {
getURL("http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x mCjG8jpKCc&feature=plcp&context=C3d8ffd1 UDOEgsToPDskIlTeErLucfRrMyimtkstkI","_se lf");
}

The buttons work everywhere except in the flash portal.

I made a movie and put in some links to youtube and other movies and such and they worked when I tested the movie in the API viewer. But now that I have submitted the movie into the flash portal they suddenly won´t work anymore. What should I do?

Link to movie

She Dutch and she's famous in here because she's really dumb and people seem to love that. She started out as a contestant in a dating show and later she was asked for a program where they put dumb blonde girls in a jungle.

Response to: Bebop Posted December 23rd, 2011 in General

I'm not a big fan of bebop, it makes music look like a competition and it looks like everybody is just trying to show off how fast they can play their instrument, of course putting all songs in one basket is bad, there are great songs in every genre.
Who knows, maybe I'll enjoy it in ten years but Cool jazz my favorite of the jazz genres, it brings up emotions faster or helps you to relax and think about everything. Plus I have a thing for melancholic songs.

Hey Tom, I PM'd you last saturday and haven't got a reply yet, can you check it out? :)

Merry Christmas Newgrounds, there has been alot of cool stuff going on last month, I especially the flood of Sexual Lobster movies that came into the flash portal, also that new Bunnykill is brilliantly done.

Response to: My SOPA Post Posted December 20th, 2011 in NG News

If this passes, wouldn't Newgrounds be in big trouble? There are thousands if not millions of flashes on here which contains unlicensed material troughout the history of the site. Take all those hentai galleries for a start, not to mention all the videogame parodies which contain official music of the game in it.

Response to: Fuck Yeah Michael Buble Posted December 7th, 2011 in General

First he was a bad version of Sinatra, the backing band was great but his vocals lacked manliness.
Now the good music is gone and is replaced by crappy pop tunes and he just annoys the fuck out of me.

Response to: Flash does not export anymore Posted November 11th, 2011 in Game Development

I'm really stuck with this project,

I have converted what I had to an FLV file and imported in flash but the framerate is all wrong which is really annoying since the flash is rythm based. I can't do anything with the giant file anymore or it says not enough memory. This is really frustrating the crap out of me because its gonna look like all my work has been for nothing because I can't go on with the projcect.

At 11/9/11 10:12 AM, Gimmick wrote: Umm...what was the size of the file?

200 MB

I'm trying to split it up into different pieces like Sandremss128 adviced now by converting it into a non-vector output such as avi and flv.

But now I'm having trouble with the framerate since the framerate is 25 and when I try to convert it, it is either very shocky (missing frames) or too fast. Which is a problem since the flash is rythm based.

Flash does not export anymore Posted November 9th, 2011 in Game Development

Alright, I'm working on an animation and I'm halfway trough. The fla. is huge due to the amount of frame by frame work and vector points in the flash.

Yesterday flash would not export my movie anymore, when the green loading bar finished, nothing happened and there was no swf.
After a few hours of trying to solve the problem and decided to work from my last back up, which still exported fine.

So I animated the part which I had done before the export problem and now its back, I think it because the file is too big but I don't know the best way to solve this. The flash is now 50% finished.

Here you can see what I have so far

What is the best way to solve my export problem so I can continue working from where I left off?

Unable to load ad Posted October 17th, 2011 in Where is / How to?

Hey I want to submit a movie with an advertisement on it, the ad loads when I open it on my computer but when I test the file in the newgrounds API tester everything connects but it says:

EVENT: trace "Unable to load ad."
undefined

What is the problem?

As a programmer it seems to me like programming is the real difficult part of a game project. Certainly the longest part. Of course it varies based on how complex the game is, but the point remains.

Do you also do all the game design? IE: Story, Mechanics, Enemies, and all that?

50/50 is mostly the usual thing to do when making a game together, unless ofcourse one side is very obviously busier then the other.
From my experience of making flash games with a programmer, it involves about the same amount of work for each individual.

A lot of programmers think they work harder because working with a script looks more like work then making graphics, and thinking of a concept. While in the actual gaming industry creating the concept and thinking up the gameplay and its style, takes way more people and time.

But since 50/50 seems fair for the majority of the people that seem to be the standard.

I'm currently busy with fun AI programming, but good luck!

The usual, the game will be sponsored by a gamesite like armorgames/mofunzone etc., money will be split 50/50. As2 or As3, its not my call its up to the programmer to decide that.

Game: Looking for a good programmer Posted September 20th, 2011 in Game Development

I have been working on a game for a while now called Monsieur Opera,
it is a 2D platform arcade based shooter. The graphics are nearly finished but the person who was
gonna program it does not have enough time for it anymore.

I'm looking for someone who has enough experience in making flash games and who can program this game reasonably fast.

Here are examples of the graphics:

Character Sprites
Menu
Some Other Graphics

Beta-Test doesnt work Posted May 18th, 2010 in Where is / How to?

I'm currently finishing up a game.
The coder has just finished implenting the medal system into it and he added me as beta-tester for the game here on NG.
But when I try to test the game it doesnt load and I get a white screen.

It only happens in there, anyone know how to fix that?

You play the game with your cursor,
the object is to not let the guy get too hairy, his hair grows slowly at the start but it keeps growing faster and faster the longer you keep up.
The radar thing in the upper right corner says where he has the most hair.

You shave by clicking on the shaving cream icon and shake that thing and put some cream on wherever you need to shave him,
then you grab your razor and shave it away.
If you shave him too fast he will start to bleed and his health will run down, so you have to put a patch on him to stop it.

Then there is this other mode in which he will start hairy and you need to shave as much as possible within a certain amount of time.
