This is actually a free & open source game which is surpisingly good and has achieved a fair amount of prestige. Can anyone guess which one it is?

Report a website bug? Posted August 17th, 2010 in Where is / How to?

Hi NGBBS!

I have discovered a Google Chrome-exclusive (maybe Safari too, as they both use the Webkit engine) semi-bug and would like to report it. Does anyone know a form on the site for reporting bugs or annoyances, to say the least?

Thank you very much for reading,

BarkingBushbaby

Argh, that's what happens when you do copypasta. It suited another forum that way but I thought it would go better in NG's Video Games forum. Still, this may be a bit too 'hot' for NG...

Team Fortress 2: Meet The F-bomber! Posted August 14th, 2010 in Video Games

Link to the video!

The video (more like audio) is in the link above!

Just listen to this guy drop the F-bomb... I won't spoil it, but it's at least 100 times through the course of the video. It was so awesome (put me in a state of awe) that I had to post it somewhere! A great many laughs are guaranteed, but do it at your discretion, as this is extremely NSFW.

By the way, I wouldn't think this is strictly game-related and that's why I posted it here - it's basically a troll going f*cking INSANE on mic. What can I say... just watch and see...

Also, he gets over 9000 XP for coining the phrase 'rape pounding'!

I don't know what to say.

I like the art direction, but a story about living in an always-sunny and bright 'sky city' - as well as the art style seem too romantic for a proper BioShock game, however beatiful they are.

I am also pretty pissed off by the damsel - you're damn right this will be an escort mission affair.

But I'll guess we'll have to wait and see. The game is 1,5 years away from release after all, and things can always change. We can only speculate for the moment. And I speculate that since Irrational Games has such highly skilled game developers and scenario writers this will be a good game. Don't lose faith, good people of America!

Nice one! Used to play it like MAD till I forgot my account password and... really could not be bothered to grind 40 levels again. The combat is incredible though - definitely the best MMORPG of all time regarding the combat system.

Arx Fatalis, overshadowed (very unfairly) by the Elder Scrolls 3. Still, its bugs prevented me from ever finishing it, but it had become way too easy by the end of it anyway as your character was basically a walking killing machine. A great game regardless of all its problems.

At 7/30/10 11:15 PM, FurryDemon wrote: Are the Arma games good? The only realistic fps game I've ever played is Counter Strike and that is REALLY outdated in graphics and features now.

Counter-Strike? Really? You can jump in that game and be like those idiots who run around with a knife all the time trying to get kills (and they do!).

If anyone wants a proper no-strings-attached (by that I means no unrealistic stuff) you should play a game called Hidden & Dangerous 2. This game does not f*ck around.

Basically, you're in a 4-man squad of SAS soldiers (commandos) in the Second World War and you go on various missions; each mission has clear primary and secondary objectives - and only about 2 missions request you to (on normal difficulty - on hard it's all different) exterminate all the enemies in the level. In most missions, you can actually avoid most encounters by taking different paths and what-not. Also, you can control each one of your soldiers if you wish to. It is a shooter game (both 1st and 3rd person perspectives) but there are loads of interactions you can do with your soldiers as well as switch to them, and I shall go in greater detail about these interactions below.

Make no mistake though; this is a shooter game. In most of the later missions you have to blow up tanks (which will kill you all the time) and while you can actually complete most missions stealthily (except the ones like one where you storm a hill or one where you hold a fort in the desert), you still have to shoot enemies, only with a silencer one or with a sniper rifle.

Also, co-ordination of your squad in this game reaches an incredible extent. There are more commands you can give your squad than in the original Rainbow Six and ArmA combined. That is personally the big draw of the game for me, but I don't want to go into too muych detail. Basically, the command interface is very easy and quick to use and does not interfere with one's immersion in the game. You even need to be in earshot range for your soldiers to hear you!

H&D2 may not have been a very popular game but it was made by the same company that made the Mafia game in 2003 which was extremely successful and will release Mafia 2 and the end of this year.

H&D2 is incredibly atmosperic, by the way. It is truly one of a kind. I mean, the fort on a hill you have to storm in an operation against the Japanese in Myanmar (Burma) is hands-down the best mission in the game. The approach is scary as hell as you're running through fog constantly looking for flashes of the enemies' guns to guide your own shots and take the fight to them. Constantly looking for that tank that you really ought to hide behind and constantly trying to help your allies who are outside you squad. It is seriously intense and makes you feel like you're in a small warzone. Just for that level, you have to play the game. It simply is an out-of-this-world (but very much in this world, as it's so realistic) experience a true gamer cannot afford to miss.

I'd highly recommend or anyone to look it up on eBay or perhaps BitTorrent if you're that type of person (thieving bastard!)! Trust me, this is not your typical WW2 game - it is much, much different - and you only get to handle a Thomson about twice, being a British unit. Conventional warfare as portayed very well in this game is similar to the warfare of today and not the large scale operations of the 1940s - these are covert operations. You will love this game if you've ever enjoyed playing any tactical shooter or stealth game, like I did!

Response to: Favorite Video Game Villain Posted July 15th, 2010 in Video Games

Nope. My favourite villain is Jack of Blades from the original Fable.

He is a very bad man; he gives you money for killing your best (and childhood) friend and then tries to destroy the whole world because he is an evil dick, simply put. In "The Lost Chapters" he becomes a dragon and threatens the world once again but fortunately you put an end to him.

Also, his outfit is about as badarse as it can get. The mask is especially cool.
He is the absolute villain.

Tanks in Hidden & Dangerous 2... fuck they were annoying!

The worst thing is how the bazooka/panzerfaust you are using never fucking works!! You shoot again and again but the tank remains unharmed, unless you hit it in a very specific spot which is usually at the top of the tank, but the soft spot is chosen pretty randomly! And if they shoot at you, it's always an instant kill!

Did I mention how rare ammunition for bazookas and panzerfausts is?

Response to: Best Elder Scrolls 4 character? Posted July 14th, 2010 in Video Games

Redguard's good... but he honestly gets really boring after a while, because it's a massive pain in the arse to train other skills (and you won't want to).

The Imperials have a nice spell that they get at the beginning (one of those that you can only use once a day) that makes you invisible for 1 minute, and it is very useful early on (because your fighting sucks) and in some quests.

But I choose Khajiits, because I like their stealth style of play. It suits me, and that's why I like it... so, being ridiculously cheesy, I say this to you; go with your heart.

Super Mario 64... the fun never ends!

Honestly, it's near impossible to beat the whole game. Each level has about 6 or 7 interesting objectives to complete and the game is fun throughout. You will WANT to explore every edge of the map... as the game is so damn fun to explore!

I was addicted to this for years and still play it to this day (had to buy a 'new' N64), and I still enjoy it at this ripe old age! Highly recommended!

Very good programs, Visual Basic and C# are n00b freindly, with less options though. If you want an advanced program try Visual J#, which is NOT good for n00bs. Give it a shot!

P.S: You can download XNA Game Studio Express(it's free) after you have a version of Visual, and after you have Game Studio express, IF you want, you can download XNA Game Framework, to do more stuff in you games.

I think the are beta testing Visual 2005-2007 now, andthey are free. Anyway te XNA ones are free, but you need to have a Visual program first

Hello, I have a VERY important problem with my PC. Also I'm not an expert at computers, so I can't explain a lot. Well, 2 years when I was playing a game on an other game site a mesage appeared that said that my PC would go slower and it also said if I want to continue running [playing] the program. After that I played a game that wanted good graphick and stuff. Soon the computer was beeping(not the sound system),the box you know. I fund out that it gets very hot in it and is doing it so it's like an "ememrgency" and it won't burn up. I think can turn the beeping off BUT then it might burn. What do you think?
