The Academy dropped the fucking ball this year. I couldn't be more pissed off.

1) Hugh Jackman fucking sucked.
2) The Dark Knight wasn't nominated for Best Picture.
3) The Wrestler wasn't nominated for Best Picture.
4) The Reader was nominated for Best Picture.
5) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was nominated for Best Picture.
6) Mickey Fucking Rourke didn't win Best Actor.
7) WHERE THE FUCK WAS JACK NICHOLSON? He wasn't there! Nor was Clint Eastwood! Either that, or they didn't show them, which just proves it was even more of a stupid stupid night.

And the winner is...anyone who was asleep from 20:30 - 00:05, February 22, 2009.

This is just how Python works.

If you divide two integers, it'll truncate anything to the right of the decimal point. In order to get a float, one (or two) of the numbers need to be floats.

Way to fuck that up. Black is absence, and white is every colour.

Blackle is a search engine that uses Google's engine. The main colours of the site are black and grey, as to reduce power and thus help the environment.

I like Google's motives, but there are many reasons why this is totally useless and simply powering down your computer for a few more minutes a day will easily make a better difference. Blackle only saves power on CED, LED, and plasma monitors. It doesn't save any power on LCD or DLP monitors. It is estimated that 75% of monitors in use are LCDs. Blackle also lacks many of the features on the Google site.

Overall, good idea, but it's over-hyped, insignificant and stupid.

Let's hear some of NG's favourite band names.

I would have to say The Velvet Underground has to be the best band name out there, also Dire Straits is a great band and name.

What about you guys?

And of Trillian and Leela.

You know, if you think about it, there's quite a bit of Hitchhiker's influence in Futurama.

Don't forget Marvin and Bender.

What about the Vogons and the Omicronians of Omicron Persei VIII (Lrrr and Ndnd).

Yeah sorry, it looked like a drama.
Is it a kind of gangster film? Or did it look like one?

What happened on the trailer?

The trailer started as the friends or whatever in NYC, and everyone was good, and then the Vietnam War started and it showed the protests, and then I think at least one gets drafted, maybe there's a problem with drugs, but I forget.

It looked great.

I tried things like 1960's, 1970's, vietnam-war, teenagers, but none of the movies in 2007/2008/2009 fit your description. Maybe there was a bigger part to the movie that is the real focus and would appear in the description, or maybe if you look at those, one of the names will remind you of it.

Ahh, man. I did a lot of searching, and it's not there. I can't believe this, I remember this movie looking outrageously amazing.

I remember seeing a long preview while going to see some movie this year, probably Spiderman 3 or something like that. Here's what I remember:

- It was set in the 60's/70's.
- It was a story about a few late teenagers/20 year olds.
- I'm pretty sure the main character/s lived in bohemian New York City.
- I THINK at least one of the main characters were enlisted in the Vietnam War, and the plot was based around how the friends coped with it or something.

I forget the rest.

I remember this movie looking AMAZING, and that it had the potential to be one of my favourites. Anyone remember?

Anyone else notice the huge similarities between the eccentric captain from Futurama and the President of the Galaxy from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

Brannigan is usally cited as being a direct satire of William Shatner, or Captain Kirk. But I'm currently reading The Guide, and I think they are very similar.

What do you guys think?

I've started this project where I periodically recommend various albums for you guys to buy. With the addition of the new user pages, an archive of all will go there.

I'll start this off with an album that, when released, was instantly a classic among indie and baroque circles. I'm talking about Andrew Bird's 2005 hit, The Mysterious Production of Eggs.

It's one of my personal favourites, and recieved overwhelmingly favourable reviews from
Pitchfork and
All Music Guide.

Untitled kicks the album off with an intense, layered violin track. Andrew shows off his talents as a whistling virtuoso, supplementing his melodic violin glides with his high whistle tones. Sovay, an excellent acoustic ballad starts the album off. The album has many high points, including the epic A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left, which begins as an acoustic verse and then stems into a crisp whistling melody over violin plucks and guitar chords (all performed by Andrew Bird). Another of the albums many peaks is Fake Palindromes, one of the more "poppy" tracks on the album. One of the longer tracks of the album, The Naming of Things, shows that Andrew Bird can compose 3 minute melodic songs, as well as dignified epics.

This album is a little tough to find, but indie record stores, as well as high-end chains (such as HMV) carry it. The smaller chains such as CD Plus usually have it available to order.

Bird's masterpiece is timeless, perfect for any occasion and can always be found in the cd player of my car.

Overall: 9/10

Bsm's Album Recommendations.
