Nice app, it looks like fun!

Here's what I put together in 5 min after I downloaded it. It's quite a bit to learn and I'm not even sure what all the controls do, you should think about putting together a quick interactive tutorial for beginners

That's actually a REALLY good idea, i'm definitely going to go out and get me a small note pad now... I've read somewhere where a guy gets his best ideas starting from drawing a lamp post, then adding onto it step by step (it's crazy!)

How do YOU come up with ideas? Posted February 22nd, 2014 in Animation

Even if it's something stupid, silly, cliche, and etc. Which approach do you guys take when brainstorming and coming up with ideas for your animations? Is it a TV show or movie? a good book you've read? or just some thought that came to you while you were sitting on the can?

discuss.

Response to: Cgi & Animation. Which Is Harder? Posted February 7th, 2014 in Animation

2d is harder, because without the ability to draw well, the content one puts out is garbage. where-as 3d; aslong as you understand the fundamentals and rules of animation, you can put out excellent content.

Response to: The Animators "Right of Passage" Posted February 6th, 2014 in Animation

a REAL animator animates for himself and not for fame or fortune.

if you love animating, animate for the love of it.
if you're animating to get popular and to make money, then don't animate, you're wasting everyone's time.

Response to: Career in Animation Posted February 5th, 2014 in Animation

as long as it's a possibility, then go for it. there may be times where you get discouraged and think about quitting, but then just remember why you started and keep going, motivate yourself and you'll make it there in no time.

So we're currently three people in the animation group (two animators and one voice actor) none have actually met each other yet! We kick off our first group chat meeting in two weeks (less if the group size fills up before then). The goal is to have a group of six people, eight at most. Any more would be a bit crowded, however if there's a high enough demand for it this may change to twelve people (full group). At the moment though eight animation fanatics is the absolute limit! I'm sure you understand why.

Wanna join? Message me. If not, well then ignore this shit and continue on.

That's all folks!

I've been needing motivation for a while now and I feel the forums and/or a group like yours could help me in that area! I'm definitely interested in participating :)

I keep getting "no input signal" message and I'm wondering if it's my computers that can't connect or if it's the cords that came with the tablet that are having the issue. I've been searching around the internet and so far from what I've found this appears to be a common issue with the Cintiq 13HD.

If anyone has any experience with this tablet or similar tablets with the same issue, how did you overcome it?

i would have saved for a 22hd, in my opinion, the extra space is well needed, it allows you to see more detail as you're drawing.

Need A Voice Actor For One Line Posted November 6th, 2013 in Audio

I need a voice actor who can deliver ONE LINE to me!
This is a FREE project, it's one line so it shouldn't matter. (JUST THINK OF IT AS GOOD PRACTICE!)

Please pick out of any of these sentences:
“I would like two of those please.”
“Excuse me buddy, I was here first.”
“That was very rude of that person.”
“Hoo-eee! Man! That was a big one!”
“Look out you Idiot, you’ll kill us both!”
Sniff, sniff... “Do you smell something funny?”
“If I had my way, I’d... I’d...”
“That has got to be the craziest idea.”
“You should’ve seen it... it was this big!”
“No, really! I’m serious... Hey, cut it out!”
“As I was just about to say...”
“It’s over this way I’m tellin’ ya!”
“That’s it... I’ve had enough. I’m outta here.”
“Then she just came outta nowhere, and BAM!”
“Gentlemen, gentlemen... there’s no cause for alarm.”
“I’m trippin’ man... just back off, o.k.?”
“There’s one sure cure for this... ME!”

once you've done it, either pm or email me @ flashofrealitymail@gmail.com

ps. I'm not looking for any specific age, pitch, or gender... it just can't be me :(

thanks!

Adding arms and making him lift and lower them would give some more effect on his body language.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVsVyvCQ8N0
For the end I think it would be more entertaining to have the muscular man lift the heavy object on the top of his finger. But since this is just practicing...

Well, see that's the thing. The instructor said arms aren't allowed, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't.

As for the other, I originally planned for the tough guy to lift it above his head, then a lady walked through the frame and the tough guy drops it on the little guy to chase the girl. -But I ran out of time.

Response to: What is Wrong with My Animation? Posted October 4th, 2013 in Animation

you should study the fundamentals of basic animation, i suggest:

character animation crash course - eric goldberg
animators survival kit - richard williams

i have both of these books and they've helped tremendously!

the timing was actually intentional, but i can understand where you're coming from.

Response to: I need some help with smoke effects Posted July 31st, 2013 in Animation

there's two ways that i do it,
create two - five movie clips with flat single color animated smoke, set all of them to transparency 35 - 50 and stack them on top of each other.

other ways are to animate frame by frame, i animate smoke on twos and end up with about 12 frames in total.

but i agree that Richard Williams - Animator Survival Kit is the best option.

make sure when installing a program such as flash player, you right click and "Run as Administrator"
(you can download flash player from adobe's website.)

I've had a problem with installing software and programs in the past because of this problem, it might help you.
