I think Sorohano and Rig could also be considered (no ass-kissing) because they put out a huge body of great music AND added a lot to the forum side of NG.
I also think a lot of artists like ph0ne, BigRed and midimachine did a massive amount for the scene without their music being my favourite.
In terms of my favourite NG music artists on the basis of music alone I'd have to go Hopeku, Rama, Kill Bill, oZ and Suddle as my top 5 besides xKore (excluding people I'd say I was friends with).
People need to be less shy and hit up others for collabs more often. I've made a lot of friends through collabs on this website, but a lot of the time I just feel surprised when, IDK 50 people download a track, probably at least half of them are musicians, and noone wants to shoot the shit one audio geek to another.
But yeah, people just need to be less shy I think.

Hit up my man J to the G aka Rampart Mewchick. He's a great guy to work with, and very cinematic in a lot of his stuff. Also he knows a lot about copyright law, a very useful addition.
The drop on this track wouldn't HAVE to be NI or Massive as most people suggest, I've heard a similar sound on a lot garage/ bassline tunes, definitely sounds like FM synthesis with a lowpass filter though. Massive would be the funnest way to get that tune IMHO.

I think seasoned users, like pretty much everyone in the thread, understate the importance of the chart in finding new artists. When I first checked out the hiphop scene here in '10, it was because one of Icon's tracks was at the top of the charts that I followed him, and because of that I heard his battle with Gas. At least speaking for myself, the charts essentially led me into the clabtrap scene which I am now so avidly a part of.
When I first came to NG, checking the drum and bass charts was how I discovered Hopeku, checking the house charts was how I discovered xKore and checking the dubstep charts how I later discovered Night Killa, all artists I still follow avidly. I think people understate the role having one or two awesome artists on the front page of the charts can play when you're looking for good artists. Very few people, proportionally speaking, are forum regulars.

And Broken Deck man, It's not about exposure in the sense of gaining any fanbase, it's about exposure to meeting likeminded listeners and artists. What I love about NG as a proud amateur is that it's a place where other people who are into the same sort of stuff as me log into to post interesting music, collab, and just chat shit generally lol. NG Hiphop's like that I guess, because less listeners dig it (unlike, say, DnB and Dubstep which are far more easy to get a lot of views in).

Sorry for double posting, and I'm not going to just get pedantic and pick apart everything the mods say, but 121 votes is not normal for a hiphop modern song (at least one that hasn't taken Ses's fancy to either 0 or 5 the hell out of). Check the matching downloads if you don't believe me, the hiphop charts and modern in particular don't get attract much attention, and so the votes and downloads generally hang around the 50/20 range. No problem there lol, just saying so you guys get some idea of the norm on that chart.

Also, mods: what's with the apathy? All of us are Soundcloud heads too, we all network with each other and promote our stuff hard on the rest of the net, we just think we should be able to hear new artists by checking out the modern page like we are the olskool page, which just doesn't happen anymore, seriously ask anyone. To be honest, I'm quite surprised the mods don't feel the same. It's not like Ses is a saint in all over respects, he samples copyrighted material and has been in like the longest ever flamewar with Lejin.

If someone did what you said, they would move up the ranks. And if they're work is bad, more people will see it and vote it back down. And I doubt there's someone who would keep doing it when the reviews are bad, and the ratings are high. Seems really fishy.
Erm... Maybe check the number of RMP submishes in the Hiphop- Modern charts. I'm guessing that's what Vash, newest addition to RMP since circa a week ago is referring to.
