Well, although he moved to Britain he's more Austrian than British both in terms of his nationality and his style of thought. It's the same bold didactic style that you yourself favour, I think you'd enjoy it.

An' it's named trap after the place you'd make your pick ups, because so trap artists were all about dat life.

I dont.

So if you get a review suggesting you change something you aren't bothered? You don't mix and master so your songs sound good on other people's speakers? You've never entered a music competition?

If we didn't make our music (partially) for an audience, it would beg the question why we share it and actively promote it. Wanting other people to enjoy our music is perhaps as natural and inherent as wanting to make it in the first place.

At 10/19/13 10:42 AM, GameChild214 wrote: Meant to say starved to death. Anyway "cruel and unusual", I think raping a woman, or killing a woman (or anyone for that matter) is pretty "cruel and usual" in itself, you reap what you sow.

OK, so if we're being serious I only have three ideological objections to this statement (in terms of pragmatics, the death penalty just flat out doesn't make sense).

Firstly, most rapes/ murders aren't what you'd imagine them to be, usually being perpetrated by those known (and often loved) by the victim. There is a key difference between gang/ serial rapists and drunken, pissed off husbands. Both are despicable, yes, but to take the life of the latter seems inefficient to me. Why not focus on rehabilitating them, making them capable of atoning for their crime? If they for the most part live perfectly functional, productive lives, how do you justify your own self righteous anger as sufficient reason to deny society whatever that person might contribute? For example, if once a rape is committed you have the option of making the rapist contribute to society for the rest of their lives or just killing them, why would you choose to just kill them?

Secondly, to sentence anyone to death requires judging a person's life as without worth. If all you know about a person is one night's actions, however bloody and gruesome they might be, how can you form a judgement about their entire future as a sentient being? I think you have to be really absorbed in your own self righteousness to think that you could ever make such a judgement. However small a box you keep someone in for however long, there will always be room for atonement, but if you take away their ability to think you deprive their ability to acquire worth.

Thirdly, the death penalty is always an act of vengeance committed systematically by the state. I don't believe that an act of vengeance is ever good for a person's well being as it bases happiness a) on external sources and b) on harming other sentient life. In a case by case basis, I can see that there may be exceptions, and even if a single person systematically indulges in revenge you might be able to write it off as an excusable personal choice, but for an entire state to commit revenge systematically creates an unjust justice system and sets a degrading moral code whereby the foul acts of others are allowed to justify the foul acts of our own.

Also, I hate this argument that just because the criminal committed a cruel act, we are justified in punishing him/ her cruelly. I mean, however you phrase it, that is letting your own moral code depend on the actions of murderers and rapists. I mean, so many supporters of the death penalty/ castration shout that "murder and sex crimes are always wrong!" and proceed to advocate punishing these criminals with murder and sex crimes. It just isn't morally coherent.

Response to: Arepeopletrulymusicallycultured? Posted October 18th, 2013 in Audio

I just gotta say this: All y'all who be like "modern music sucks" are coming at it from the wrong perspective. If you measure how good you are at music by what Bach etc did, of course Bach etc are going to be the best. Here's the thing though: most musicians you guys hate aren't taking that route.

I'll say this: I didn't get club music till I started clubbing. I didn't really get psychedelic music before I dropped a tab. I didn't really get metal until I got into my first mosh pit. I didn't really get rap until my friends started busting freestyles. Just like how I didn't really get classical until I started training in classical music theory.

Most people who are big right now are great at what they do. What they do just tends to be really fucking annoying (at least to my ears).
