Why do you think hiphop is musically dull? From a producer's perspective J Dilla, Afrika Bambaata and Pete Rock are some of the most innovative and technically skilled musicians in the last century.
If it wasn't for hiphop, you wouldn't have turntablism so that's no drum n bass, no club music and no big beat.
Hiphop was the last genre to innovate instrumentally. AND WUT
Yo Wriggle, if you wanna hit it just hit it and be cold after. If you want more, just don't get tangled up with those women. If I've had a few and I'm vibing with a girl, I'll p do shit, but sex is usually a no-no. When you get used to good, ultra kinky relationship sex, 1 night stands feel kinda heretical.
If you've got a reasonably prominent masochistic streak I highly recommend barely legal emo chicks with colourful hair. 80% of them have some kinda pain fetish I swear, and none of them will think you unusual.
Obviously punching someone is never the best way to deal with the situation, and the less capable they are of dealing with getting punched the worse. What's this guy supposed to do though? Let this woman keep kicking him in the nads? Fuck that.
The only way the "don't punch women" rule ever worked was when you could take that shit up with their man instead. The question isn't "should women get hit" but "should we treat women like individual people who can take responsibility for their own bullshit". If your answer is no, you need to think about how you see women.

My argument isn't just "not all Africa's shitty", it's also that you misunderstand the nature of the shittiness. Shitholes in America generally have a lot more crime, random shootings and crackwhores than shitholes in Africa (which just happen to be debilitatingly poor).

Wait do votes matter in Uganda or is it one of those places where you get elected based on the number of children you ate in the last uprising?
Lmao, yeah, from what I know Uganda's (relatively) democratic. It's still at that Indian level though, so in the city there's no problem at all and anyone can stand and say what they like whilst in the villages everyone's poor enough for corrupt officials to fuck shit up. I have a couple friends with Ugandan relatives, and supposedly it's fine to live there if you have money, and whilst it's still corrupt as hell, everyone's just grateful it's not a dictatorship anymore. Idk though, they're all Indian dudes, so they're probably especially glad Amin's gone.

The point is simply to show that changing one's skin color has been an idea long held by many cultures, some having no contact with white men that I know of.
If some Nigerians think looking whiter is better then who cares? Why are some people trying to spin this into some sad cultural death of the mighty Nigerian culture, which up to this point no one gave a shit about and no one here knows anything about, really.
So you have a bunch of morons being sad that some other morons are bleaching their skin and trying to spin this to be evil white culture's fault... yeaaah ok, okay...
As far as people having always made cosmetic alterations to their bodies and faces, that's obviously true. My point is just that Nigerian people aren't following some innate universal desire to be white - it's either a fashionable aesthetic or a cultural left-over from imperialism (think the latter's more likely, but who can say). My problem with it is just that nobody's supposed to be that pale in an African country, you get some serious skin cancer risks.
Definitely don't think it's a problem North America had any part in though. I do think that if Nigeria didn't get so ass-fucked culturally by Britain in the 19th Century and then by companies like Shell in the 20th Century they wouldn't be doing this. It's consenting adults though, and they're responsible for their own shit. This just kinda seems like a sad reflection of everything else going on in Nigeria, bleaching your face to look whiter, even if it comes with a high cancer risk.
At 1/17/14 10:25 PM, Elitistinen wrote: WTF? Now people are retardly blaming white people for this? How is this our fault?
I don't think they're blaming all white people - maybe more specifically the (few hundred) white people who wrecked Nigeria's stability and general way of life. Not a representative sample of white people, not a large group of white people, not even people who did this because they were white - just a few hundred who wanted money more than they hated killing and just so happened to also be white.
At 1/17/14 10:09 PM, poxpower wrote: Long before America was even a country, white skin was preferred all over the world. Asians used to paint their faces white and the lighter skinned Egyptians shat on their darker skinned southern cousins.
Most of what you say's pretty reasonable, but I'm going to call this for the bullshit it is. Most Celtic and Ainu rituals involved darkening their faces, the Romans had a historic preference for North African complexions and eye/ lip make up has always accentuated typically African features. And the Egyptian situation had jack shit to do with colour preference - the darker skinned Egyptians were partially congolese immigrants, just newcomers in an incredibly dynastic culture.

Is this a criticism of the ACA's existence or it's implication? I can't help but feel like you're just looking for ANYTHING wrong with Obamacare rather than just saying you don't like Obamacare, period. Like, if I wanted to say why the holocaust was wrong, I wouldn't even mention the problems with deathcamp security. I'd just want the death camps shut down, forget wanting them to be more efficient.

Dude, that's a huge logical fallacy/ false analogy. morfngdbs only said that in reply to someone who used their lack of courtroom experience as evidence of ignorance.
ie: if someone said "you've never been to a physics lab, therefore you don't know physics", "I once visited a physics lab" would be a suitable rebuttal.
morefngdbs isn't implying visiting a courtroom is sufficient for understanding law, just merely acknowledging it as necessary for understanding law.

I don't know, to be honest I despise commercialized cosmetic surgery. Sex change operations, liposuction, boob jobs. All of it's ridiculous. No body is perfect and it's mentally healthier to accept and overcome your insecurities rather than undergo risky surgery. Cosmetic Surgery should be used when the person has been injured or suffers from deformity, not because a teenage girl thinks her nose is too big.
Just my opinion not saying it should be illegal or anything.
Totally agree. I'll go further and say I don't understand why black people get weaves or straighten their hair instead of going for beautiful afros.
I mean, who thinks to themselves "I could look like a sexy '60s afrocentric mamacita or superglue on some Brazilian prison inmate's hair" and chooses the latter? I can only blame us Westerners, because black peoples tend to just be more sensible.

I just hope that an economic focus will prevail whilst Uganda adjusts and finds itself, and that the relentless, fanatic position US-born evangelism thrusts upon them doesn't totally replace their African respect for privacy. I also hope their economic ambition doesn't devolve into a Western-style laissez faire economy creating an over and underclass and that they retain a sense of solidarity. Maybe that's just a pipedream though and the talk of economic improvement is just an excuse for more privatisations and deregulation. I figure Uganda will find it's way eventually and Europe just has to minimise the damage it's ideals will do (like the Caliphate failed to do for Europe).
At 1/17/14 02:31 PM, Entice wrote: Yes, if they really are focusing on the economy, and see it as a "solution" to homosexuality, what will they do if they're no longer relying on foreign aid?
As far as I can see, Uganda relies on foreign aid purely because it's nearly entirely a supplier of natural resources. I figure that until they are able to charge a fair amount for these goods, they will have no option but to beg for more from the countries that are ripping them off (since Africa lacks the solidarity needed to simply demand more). When they develop the infrastructure necessary to become truly independent I figure they will have the education they need to understand and tolerate the LGBT community. In this way I think aid is kind of an inverse imperialism; it allows us to gently shape African policy with rational argument by sacrificing an insignificant amount of capital.

At 1/17/14 10:14 AM, Saen wrote: Seems like he's just avoiding international conflict. Doesn't seem like a meaningful attempt to reverse homophobic legislation.
Definitely think the amount of European aid to Uganda played a part in this, especially given that they've already lost a substantial amount of it recently. Raises the question whether international pressure will be a lasting deterrent - provided the threat of aid cuts hangs in the air, will Uganda further it's prosecution of gay peoples?
For me, this sums up a large part of African homophobia. A large portion of it just boils down to the views espoused and bankrolled by American evangelicals (often too extreme for America) in conflict with the aid and diplomacy of European politicians. I mean, homosexuality wasn't even an issue in pre colonial Uganda, as is the case for most of Africa (many tribes had traditions of chiefs who took "boy-wives" and the Dagaaba of Burkina Faso went so far as to make all their priests gay). Just Western influences fighting over African hearts and minds.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jan/17/uganda-president-law-jailing-gay-people-life
The Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, has refused to approve a controversial bill that would see gay people jailed for life, saying there were better ways to deal with the "abnormality".
In a letter to parliament, the president said homosexuality was caused by either "random breeding" or a need to make money. Lesbians, he said, chose female partners because of "sexual starvation" and the failure to marry a man.
But the best way to deal with homosexuality was to improve the African country's economy, he said in the letter published on Friday in Kampala's Daily Monitor newspaper. Sarah Kagingo, a spokeswoman for the presidency, confirmed that Museveni had written the letter.
"The question at the core of the debate on homosexuality is what do we do with an abnormal person? Do we kill him/her? Do we imprison him/her? Or we do contain him/her?" the president was quoted as saying.
"Even with legislation, they will simply go underground and continue practising homosexuality or lesbianism for mercenary reasons," he said.
The anti-gay bill cruised through the Ugandan parliament last month after its architects agreed to drop a death penalty clause.
Although he has refused to sign off on the legislation, Museveni's homophobic comments could be seen as a way to avert criticism that he is supporting gay people.
So at the eleventh hour, one of the most notoriously homophobic countries on Earth seems to have pulled it's head out it's ass (to some degree). Question is - Does this just postpone inevitable pushes forward with homophobic legislation? Or is this a meaningful event, and are the politician's of Uganda perhaps a little less willing to persecute gay people?
What struck me was that even though the president of Uganda is unabashedly homophobic and sees homosexuality as a problem, he didn't want to push further legislation because he thought there would be an economic or social solution that was peaceful. Of course, he might just be trying to avoid an international outcry against Uganda (and the cessation of aid) but he might also be at radical christian tier homophobia as opposed to witch hunting tier homophobia. Which is a step forward of sorts.
Thoughts?
Cameron gets a 4 from me for being shit but NOT having sent death squads to conduct extra judicial killings (as would be necessary for 0-2) and being reasonably moderate (making him > 3).
Milliband, the main alternative, probably gets a 6 even if his cabinet would get a 4-5.
Clegg, the totally unviable alternative, for me gets a 6 with his cabinet getting 7-8 (Vince Cable getting 9).
I don't get how you can give a president a 0 if he isn't currently engaged in genocide and/ or puppy maiming.
