I dunno, but there is a lot of good work on here, especially some of those Midi sequences. I dunno how you guys do that with such bland instruments.

There are a lot of circumstances that make using older technology practical as opposed to new technology.

Would you REALLY want Windows XP controlling a nuclear arsenal or controlling the fly by wire of a jumbo jet that just flew over your head. Heh, didn't think so.

Older technology has become standard, therefore maintainability is substantially higher. A much greater cross section of society is familiar with it. Even hobbiests. SMT for instance, requires a great degree of specialized equipment just to repair a defective component on a circuit board. Where as pinthrough technology requires some solder and a solder gun. Some older technology is also far more resistant to adverse conditions.

As for the topic at hand. The government really doesn't care about techology. Government is (supposed to be) about people (and here in the U.S. revenue). You might as well say that we are repressing science (I'd preffer to use the term oppressing) While we may be able to apply ratings on how conceited, corrupt, and worthless our politicians are, government techology remains an approximate mirror of society. Military technology is an entirely different subject. When the government does care about technology is when it becomes a potential source of revenue/taxation or assisting in realizing revenue/taxation or controlling people.

You can bet the next widget that changes everything, the government will be there with some sort of registration/regulation that it can use to justify taxation.

In response to the 'Mc Hawking' music video, which was well put together but a total misfire.

What will it take to put science back on the agenda? Even if it doesn't reach religion status if it was second on the list we would be going somewhere.

It wouldn't hurt to knock off the all or nothing approach by a lot of the science zealots. Religion won't be going anywhere for a while.

I think the biggest enemies to progress right now are commercialism, money, and pop culture.

On a side note, can't we find some better folks for NASA other than those ex hippies who really just want to show everyone how smart they are?

Canadian laws about firearms definately shows the respect the government has for its people. Obviously, you can't be trusted to take care of yourself because you are to feeble, stupid, immateur, irresponsible. Who knows. Its really sad.

I don't believe either prohibits (or bans) any more or less than any other. For instance.... Liberals ban guns (bad them) and Conservatives ban abortion (Yay for defensless children). Frankly, I'd like them both to ban politics. That way they can swallow themselves up, or eat their young.

Money (as the Bible says) is the root of all evil. Not because of what it is, but because of how people abuse it. No different than drugs or alcohol.

Money = Power is not only acceptable, it makes perfect sense, unless you believe money grows on trees. People work for it. Hours, days, years, they SPEND their lives making it. On a cheery note, start thinking about every dollar you have in your pocket as time off of the end of your life. The true enemy are people who get it EZ using manipulation. They don't really respect it for what it is. Greed kills.

If you want things to work, you have to educate people. That requires getting them off their intellectual dead ass's. Thats hard to do until you can convince people that individually we can all contribute to progressing mankind and that not only is it the right thing to do but it's also 'cool' and widely accepted. Once you do this, political conflict over the issues will diminish, as people will be able to understand things on their own and postulate their own decisions. Greedy power hungry politicians won't be able to take advantage of other's ignorance. Rep or Dem, you have half a percent of people controlling nealry an entire country. Thats just sick.

Wow, there sure a lot of good arguments both pro and con to abortion. But HOLY ShuZIT here comes another perspective.

With the exception of rape victims, pregnacy itself is a choice. Unless you are immature or mentally incapable(this includes ignorance) of rational decisions, you are bound to take responsibility for your actions. Sex is a very distinct choice, just about everyone (maybe except for the pro abortionists) know when they are engaged in sexual activity.

There are some things in life that a person can 'fudge' on. Conception, and babies are not one of them. Abortion is a cowardly, and selfish act. Abstract even the existance of the child, you have still made a 'man's' decision that you couldn't take responsibility for. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Having a baby is probably one of the quickest ways to make a man out of someone whether they like it or not. Unless of course, you can whine and make excuses for yourself and squeek your way out of your responsibility.

How IS it, that a man can take a loan for college, and even if he gets SCREWED he is obligated by law to pay it back EVEN IF HE DIES. How is it, credit card companies are allowed to hound, call, garnish wages, intimidate, send investigators, ruin relationships, ruin other credit, and confiscate T.V.'s, cars, personal property, whatever... The government is allowed to take everything you have if you don't pay taxes. They can take your refunds, garnish your wages, take your car, disconnect your phone. Hell, all of the above will even go so far as to tell you that you are a bad person and that you will never get married! (I know, I've had it happen) But it costs very little to have an abortion, and after its done it can become an afterthought. How IS it, that a child's life isn't even worth a piece of plastic?

There are many pro's and con's against all perspectives. At this point, I have simply decided to choose a line of my own and stick with it.

The sad part is, the day that I finally believed God didn't exist, I wept. The human race, without God, has no purpose. The human race, in the absence of God, are merely organised piles of raw material. Your thoughts are of no consequence, and everything you do is and always will be trivial. With this in mind, why even try to exist? Just become a total heathen and play your every whim. There are those like that do exist. Not my favorite type of people. They are the ones that put progress and education on the back burner so they can purchase their 'Sea Ray' cabin cruiser and put it in the Caribean Sea. They see there own completion as how much they can get and how much fun they can have.

In the absence of God, the next best thing is progress and education so that we can become better than what we are. But you won't find very many people tossing coins into that can.

God can exist, even at the very simplist of levels. For example, many people argue about the existance of Santa Claus. Well, scientificaly, he may not 'EXIST' as in the context with what we speak, but he surely IS. Just point to any billboard during Xmas and ask a little kid, 'Who is that?'.

I don't know about the eternal life thing. Frankly, I about died a couple months ago from something as simple as an arrythmia. As I started to pass out, everything got real quiet. I couldn't hear the doctors or equipment, and I couldn't hear my mom and my sister crying. I relaxed and focused on the light/mirror and thought as my breathe faded away, "well, this is it." At that point, it felt as if there wasn't a God. Then it all went black.

Research Einstein and you will eventually discover his theories on chance and eventuality. Is it possible that the elemental building blocks could bake in a perfect environment to create more complex molecules? Apply this to a matrix of other possibilites in coordination with this one? Astronomical chances against it! But on the other hand, how many planets exist in the entire universe? If you counted each one as an opportunity, the chances accumulate to within the realm of the possible.

Truly, thank you for responding Zendra. I wish I could use Flash MX, I would have already bought it buy now. On Ebay they have it for around 1 bill. Unfortunately, MX doesn't work on this machine, as I still use Windows ME.

I thought I did search Macromedia's sight. But I probably missed something. After your advice, I will return and search some more.

Can anyone tell me where to find older Flash software? I run /ME, and Macromedia doesn't support it anymore. There goes buying the new version, and its outrageous anyway. Flash 5 is, remarkably, nearly impossible for me to find. On Ebay there are very few copies sold (unless I'm missing something) and everyone else is jumping on the Flash MX bandwagon. Amazon, appears to have removed its older flashware selection.

In finale, as a hobbiest with no intention of going professional, I don't want to spend 4 bills on the studio anyway. I would just like the freedom of expression a little.
