I'm more into the cool slick and rather realistic look, rather than humoristic stuff. I'm not quite sure what pennies have to do with steampunk, if you know what i mean.

Definitely agree, I think going for a badass type of level rather than silly would be much better.

It's kinda hard to get a solid understanding of making the realistic looking machines, but that website that MC provided in the game thread is pretty helpful, I feel like I am getting it more the more I draw, so here's a few rough starts to grasping our topic, nothing special, just want to see if I am moving in the right direction.

Even though some people have finished, an extra week can't hurt, this is all for fun and practice anyways so I'm sure its fine! People who were close to done can now do touch-ups and the such with the extra time if they would like to.

Sweet teams! I just got a read through BoM's game layout page, and it sounds like it's going to be very well done. Once you assign team-leaders, I think it might be a good idea to dedicate a part of their user-page for team communication.

Or maybe we can just get an "ArtForumShmup" account made, with different news posts for each level, that way it's basically like a mini-forum for everyone involved.

This really is very exciting though, it will definitely be the most elaborate and legendary thing to have come from the art forum!

This is gonna be great, I just can't decide whether I want it to be super-technological, or the opposite. Either way I think this will be a very interesting collab, I really like how it's not just "xmas collab" so it has a bit more flavor. Also, you guys are really incredibly organized, this should be seen as the prime example of how to start an art forum collab! (hope I didn't jinx it)

Sadly that's not what sucho is talking about. While Cintiq's are freaking awesome (I got to use one for my junior and senior years of college) they are not portable in the sense that they still need a computer and operating system to function. You can't just take the tablet around with you and be able to draw, it needs power.

I definitely believe that wacom or some big company like microsoft or apple will come out with an on-screen tablet PC that is specifically geared for digital artists in the future though. If you could just pack up one of those Cintiq's and pop on the power and draw away in photoshop outside, or on the plane or a car ride that would be sweet. I know there are tablet PC's out there, but none that I know of with the functionality and preciseness of a wacom.

Holy crap, way too much bitching in here.

Look, if you and your partner are being fussy, PLEASE do it through PMs, the rest of us don't need to be involved in your quarrel. It is without a doubt possible that teammates won't get along, but try and work through it; learn to look past the stupid things and just get progress towards your goal.

I also understand that lack of communication can be frustrating, especially when you really want to participate, but not everyone's schedules are perfect so, just give them a chance.

I hope the rest of the teams are coming up with some slick ideas for this!

If anyone has not had a response back from their partner by now, you are eligible for entering the re-pool. As of now, if KsmittleZ is the only one, he will be able to activate "plan LegolaSS" if he is available.

Send me a PM if you are having contact troubles!

Original characters is highly preferred. I guess it is up to you since I didn't really clarify, but it will be a lot more fun to see what sort of heroes and villains we can come up with, instead of just drawing what has already been created.

Remember, if your partner doesn't contact you within 3 days of your PM, you may enter a re-pool for a new one. (this excludes those who have said they will be away)

also; should we make a seperate pool for poeple who cant do anything next week? If you are away next week how do you expect to contact your partner? As far as im concerned, Its all fine if you want to do the actual drawing in the 2nd week, but you do have to be able to communicate in that first week. If you can only work in the 2nd week, chances are your partner can only work in the first week...

Hmm, I don't think we will have a problem too much, as long as people know that their partner is going to be away. I'll make note of who won't be around and when I post the teams I'll leave a little message for their partner.

Also also: awesaurus are you going to copypaste this mistake every week from now one?
you another partner, but I really am hoping this doesn't happen.

Haha, definitely going to keep that around now for nostalgia! Nah, but my bad, I must have typed a bunch before that then deleted it a few showdowns ago and missed it, thanks for finding it cubey!

You guys think it should be allowed to do one Superhero and one Supervillain, counting as a duo? I think that might be pretty cool seeing the protagonist and their arch nemesis!

I totally dare ToucanTheJoe to join this. Double fruit-loopy dare!
also, yay for TOAS and Nae being in the mix! Not-yay for Lundsfryd's school work :(

With voting over for Doubles Showdown 8, a new challenge arises! These are the same rules from last time, so for the newbies looking to jump in the pool MAKE SURE YOU READ THEM!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Number 1 ultimate rule: PLEASE BE SERIOUS ABOUT JOINING!
- This is because you are not alone in your participation, but you must think that without you, your partner is sure to fail. This is unfair to them if you end up crapping out. The set 2 week time limit is generous enough that you can complete a piece, even if you live in separate time zones.

2 - All entrants will be screened. Thats right! Not to be a stalker, but I will be looking through everyones profile/posts to find some of your artwork to gauge your ability/dedication to actual effort. This is not to be cruel, and I am not looking for the next Da Vinci, but to assure that the #1 ultimate rule stays intact. If you have not been selected to join, you will be notified via PM. If there is enough people who have been "ousted" I may use these people in another random team drawing among themselves, as long as there are no objections. Take note that your partner may be unreliable/a stick figure spammer, but if you are included in this category, we will go over it in PM's.

3 - This is to promote cooperation, create a great collaboration piece, and make new friends! Have fun with the project; be competitive, but don't get carried away/bitch at your partner. It is necessary to use an instant messenger client, e-mail, or at the very least the Newgrounds PM system (which you can provide links to your .psd/.fla/.etc file on megaupload or some other hosting site) You need to be able to communicate, and if you are not cool with that, then why would you want to participate in a collaboration project anyway?

4 - IMPORTANT! - If you do not respond to your partner within 3 days after teams are sorted, YOU ARE SUBJECT TO LOSE YOUR PARTNER! Let me know if you have extenuating circumstances, but make contact ASAP. If you are left partnerless, you will be put into a re-draw. This is a double check against the #1 ultimate rule!
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Here are some familiar rules that also apply:

Photoshop, Flash, Painter, Gimp, and other art programs are a must, unless you are an exquisite MSpaint artist, or have a scanner/digital camera.
- It is recommended that you provide a link to a higher quality image
- Once you know who your partner is, PM them with your contact info (Instant Messanger, e-mail, etc.)
you another partner, but I really am hoping this doesn't happen.
- Abide by all NG art forum and site rules
- BOTH artists must contribute!
- Give a description of what it is, and who did what in your piece!
- - - - - -
Okay, so now that all that good stuff is outta the way. Here's how it works!

Until Sunday October 25th, at 11:59 PM US Eastern time, you are to post in this thread letting me know that you are "in." On Monday the 26th, I will write down the entrants onto tiny little pieces of paper, crumple the hell out of them, and throw them into a hat. I will then be picking the teams at total random! Don't bitch about your partner please.

From that October the 26th, you have until Sunday, November 8th, 11:59 PM US eastern time. to complete your team's piece.

Now to the Theme of this Showdown!
SUPERHERO DUO!

- Excellent, creativity flows with this one! Think Batman and Robin, but much more creative than that. Make them funny or badass, their theme is up to you. Feel free to do Villains instead. Make sure the viewer can easily identify your character by their attributes and garments. Have fun with it and play around with ideas for a bit til you find something you like!

If you think I forgot something, or have a quarrel with some of the rules, feel free to shoot me a PM and I will try and straighten it out.

So, I'm having the most annoying problem with photoshop lately. Every once in a while, my mouse brush/eraser/whatever tool I'm using turns into the mouse pointer when I use it! It's highly aggravating so I looked some stuff up, people say that you can just hit the caps lock key, but that does nothing for me.

I've tried just unplugging the tablet, quitting PS and then starting up again, to no success. It's a pain in the butt to have to shut down entirely every time, so I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem/know of the solution? I'm on a Mac by the way, in case that means anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
