The good news is that you'll probably never go bald judging by the density and type of your hair and your reasonably low hairline. It resembles the kind of hairdo I had a long... long time ago.

I don't think it was the meat that gave me the effect, but rather the cheese.

I don't eat there regularly, either. This was just for experimental purposes.

Posted: 10/17/06 11:55 AM

Lazy version for those who don't want to READ: I got high off of a Double Cheesburger Combo, twice. My legs felt like lettuce.

About a week ago, I was at McDonalds, eating a double cheesburger combo. I finished the meal, started walking back to my girlfriend's house with her and her friend with me, when I began to feel sort of fuzzy. My voice began to sound strange to me and I talked about random inappropriate things for no reason.

I realized that for about 20 minutes, I had gotten some kind of high off of that meal. Several days later, I had the double quarter pounder combo, but I did not feel this way. Because of this, I deduced that it must have been something particularly with the Double Cheesburger.

So yesterday, to prove to my friend that this was true, I ordered the combo again. After eating it, I got the same feeling, only amplified even more. When I walked out of the food court, my legs felt like crispy lettuce all the way from my knee, and downwards a little.

I actually remember I made a post maybe a page back last year (goes to show my active-ness on here), where I wrote about my desire to get into the Ontario College of Art and Design, in the design stream. I applied around March and I was accepted.

In terms of universities, most of them specialize in a few particular fields, but they also usually have a diverse amount of practices to study. If you are unsure about what you want to do even when you begin to apply, remember that you will probably change your career about 4 times in your life. If you have enough money, go into the general arts for a year. It will drain your money and most of it will be for naught, because you'll be taking general courses that will probably not go towards your required credits for the program. Although you will develop a much clearer idea of what you want to achieve in the next 4 years through it.

Just don't STAY in a general arts program. In many universities these will be called the Arts and Sciences, Humanities, or just The Arts. Unfortunately, these programs just allow you to have a Bachelor of Arts, which is a BA. Which nowadays doesn't mean much of anything, unless you later go on to teacher's college, which is insane with competition and unless you are fanatically interested in teaching, you will probably not succeed.

You need to specialize. Otherwise there isn't much sense in going to Uni. Sure the experience is great, but if you have nothing to show for it at the end, you'll lose countless times to people who have a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Design, which are all specialized degrees.

But, that's just my opinion and what I have heard. It may also be different in different parts of the world.

But that is my piece of wisdom. Best of luck in your choice.

Topic: 'american Idiot' Is A Landmark

Posted: 09/11/06 10:45 PM

Forum: General

You may be right, but American Idiot is fighting a much more uninformed source - the Bush Administration, something that has been tossed around for six years now, and completely dramatized and ignorant. And what do we have now? We have George W. Bush being compared to an ape, really.

Aside from his arguably failing policies with regards to Iraq, nobody will remember this war like they did Vietnam. The numbers don't add up, and if the first Gulf War was any indication (although the circumstances are far different), it won't come anywhere close.

If, indeed, Green Day's album becomes remembered, it will be somewhat of a sad time in history, highlighting some lame fads perpetrated by MTV (which wasn't around in The Wall's time) and high-schoolers who would jump at any chance to be like everyone else.

The 60's was a time of rebellion because some people were informed. Teens had at least some compassion for the deaths in Vietnam, which was arguably the largest reason for revolt, and didn't just stick to making lame joke's about the President's speeches.

That's not to say all teens disregard the deaths in Iraq, either. I'm sure some of them don't.

I certainly hope the beginning of the 21st century has some other event it can be remembered for, besides 9/11 and an era of kids who wore too much eyeliner and complained about their parents, and politics they have no fucking clue about.

You're only 14 years old, wait a while before deciding to do some rapid weight changes yourself.

For all you know you could be very close to a growth spurt, and if you add a bunch of unnecessarily unhealthy food to your diet, it could harm you. Would you risk all that just to have a wider frame that you would get naturally in a few years anyway?

Just wait until you finish puberty, you'll have plenty of time.

At 9/7/06 08:56 PM, __CapnCrunch__ wrote: I hate history, always have and always will, and my history teacher this year stated that you must learn history, because history repeats itself. That, is a load of bullshit. History will never, ever repeat itself, and if it actually does, we would have learned from our ancestors' mistakes.

Your history teacher gave you advice that you considered in too specific a way.

Example. The Great Depression, she said it would happen eventually very soon, and I must disagree, there is a very strong possibility that a depression will happen again, but it will not be financial wise. It would be from shortage of food, or something, but definately not the financial status of our country.

This is the first example of your misunderstanding. Are you really implying that you believe your history teacher, as per her claim, suggested that something like an exact Great Depression might happen? How can anybody think that? History repeats itself in more general terms. For instance - some kind of human folly that has a link between the 30's era depression and a future depression is considered a repetition of history. It certainly doesn't need to be about inflation in the stock market, though.

Civil War. There are hundreds of things going on right now that could cause a war, but it won't be settled on the battelfield, it will be settled in court. Our generation is generally more civillized (some more than others), but they no fighting over something like racial status, taxes, and gay rights.

Are you talking about worldwide or what you see on Judge Judy? Unfortunately, wars are being fought all over the world right now within countries for those very same reasons. Hell, the civil war in the Congo has taken hundreds of thousands of lives to date. I don't think women in Afghanistan who are getting their clitoris cut off (Female Genital Mutilation) are going to sue their mothers and sisters over it, or for being nearly beaten to death by a husband who accuses her of unfaithfulness. I doubt any of that will settle in a courtroom.

Courtrooms existed in the Civil War era of the United States, but could you really settle something as expansive and economically subjective as free and slave states with a court decision? Especially when you have two immensely large groups of people with vastly different and equally potent opinions? Sure, it went to court. Court failed.

Are you suggesting a court decision dealing with a problem far too controversial for legal dispute will not erupt in the streets? You seriously misunderstood history repeating in this regard.

So basically, I'm trying to imply that history will never repeat itself and if it does, it will not be exactly the same. Only serious replies please, arguments are welcome.

Exactly. It will not be exactly the same. No Nazi regime will wipe out 6 million people again, but massacres of 800,000 people will occur in Rwanda even 50 years later because of conflicting societal and cultural beliefs in a similar way. The concept of history repeating itself is implied in the sense that, as human beings, we simply have a hard time learning our lessons.

A cynical opinion. But a worthy one, nonetheless.

Topic: Why I'm doing nothing for 9/11...

Posted: 09/05/06 09:39 PM

Forum: General

So just because death is more common elsewhere around the world, we're supposed to ignore one of the biggest events to occur on American soil? Death in any case is not something that should be taken lightly. I may not know every child personally who is dying from a hunger cycle or a malnutrition disease in a country in Africa, but I have sense enough not to belittle it because things are worse in another country.

Just because things are so unfathomably complicated in Africa, that doesn't mean you compare the death going on there and the death tied in with 9/11, that's just stupid. You're not comparing politics here, so why bring it up? What you are saying is that, because Africa isn't preceived by the majority of unenlightened and generalizing teenagers to be a 'jerk' by the rest of the world, and the US is, we have every right to dismiss 3,000 dead people in the United States.

Death is death. If you're going to bring up the US's political faults, why not bring up Africa's? Sure there's less of them, but if you're going to compare, make the comparisons unbiased.

9/11 isn't just remembered for the amount of lives lost. When, as you said, America's high esteem was personally shit-kicked, the US became very defensive, as any country would, but maybe not to that degree.

Anyway, I don't really "do" anything on 9/11 personally. There's nothing I can do, but I still remember it. Just like people still remember JFK's assassination. Or the Titanic. "OMG MORE PPL DIED IN AFRIKA THAN IN TITANIK AND JFK LOL"

Shut up.

Topic: Will You Ever Get Over Your Parents

Posted: 08/05/06 12:22 AM

Forum: General

I think age is a major factor here. Sure you cannot imagine your parents dying now, as a teenager, but when you become an adult and start a family of your own, you will have a better understanding and appreciation of life and death. And if your parents pass away of natural causes when they're older, you won't be tragically ripped apart by it. Partly because you've started a family of your own, and partly because you understand that they lived their lives well and it is just a fact of life.

This all seems a little farfetched, though it would explain George Bush's reaction to the first wave of attacks that morning in the schoolhouse. He seemed rather calm. It would also explain why he didn't read the "documents" that were given to him in August of 2001 at his ranch explaining that Bin Laden was planning an attack.

If the United States was truly desperate to stir up a second Gulf War, it would seem ideal to have the public's full support. I think after 3,000 deaths and a major attack on the country, most of the general American public wouldn't disagree with attacking Afghanistan, and later Iraq.

But of course, that too is extreme and probably very unlikely. But since this thread is mainly about theories, it doesn't hurt to consider things.

And im not a very politicaly involved person, but its easy to see a huge reason why they would do it. Oil. Getting america against Iraq makes war a just decision to invade, and steal oil.

I'm so sick of this talk about oil. If you truly care to examine the statistics, you would discover that the amount of oil in Iraq is worth about 1.something billion dollars, whereas the funding for the war in Iraq has now reached around 15 billion dollars. I'm just surprised so many people choose to believe it is all about oil.

Last year, I went to Paramount Canada's Wonderland right near the end of April. I was a coward, and only went on about 2 rollercoasters that were really intense. The next day, I had a throat infection and a really high fever.

On my second trip, two days ago, I spent 12 hours there, went on 22 rides, and at the end of the night, my legs ached unbearably from walking. I spent the night having sick dreams (the ones you have when your fever is high) and waking up feeling heavy and hot. My throat didn't hurt, and I didn't seem congested at all.

Could it be that my system wasn't used to all the adrenaline and that that could be the culprit? Has anyone else experienced this?

Note - It was raining very heavily near the end of the evening, but I avoided getting soaked. I doubt that the rain had anything to do with it, as I would probably be congested in some way if it did.

So I'll probably either stay at level 9, or maybe try to get up to 10. Anyone who has any ambitions to get to level 16+ who's still in the single digits, is pretty nuts.

Another downside is that frequently, the music you are given is outside of the genre of your artist. Most of its appeal is that it offers titles for the songs it plays, as well as album covers. Much better than online radio.
