For the love of whatever, DON'T. Ended up in rehab with a drug psychosis because of them. And LSD. And XTC. And DMT. And salvia. And speed. And tons of weed. And...you get my drift.

You may become enlightened, but it's just not worth it.

No, they don't. They look for something meaningful. Or they start drinking.

I don't know anyone who has done LSD that is unaware of what it has done to people.

I'm not saying they're unaware of what it can do to people, I'm saying they're most likely unaware of what it can do to THEM. You don't realize the consequences until you're smack in the middle of it.

Well if the person is actually sunshine and candy dust and are not just hiding their true feeling then the chances of them having a bad trip would be quite low.

Yes, but still existant.

It all depends on the person and their mood at the time. Their mood will effects what kind of trip they have.

The problem with that is that people with, let's say, depressions, are more likely to resort to drugs than the average middle-class-"wow, the world's such a great place"-biased-fuckup.

Also, if you're the kind of person for whom the drug is possibly dangerous, you're probably unaware of it. And yes, it depends on your mood. But even if you're all sunshine and rainbows, odds still are you'll get a bad trip. Not as likely, but still possible...

At 10/31/09 09:17 AM, CloudEater wrote: Hallucinogenic drugs include... LSD (Lysergic Acid), Psilocybin mushrooms, PCP (Phencyclidine), Cannabis/Marijuana, and probably a few others...

What are your thoughts on these drugs?

You forgot the deliria, like DMT and datura. LSD and shrooms are relatively harmless compared to these, but still quite dangerous when taken at the wrong time or by the wrong person. I used to think everyone was ought to take LSD at least once during their lifetime, so we'd attain an enlightened society. I learned quite a lot from my trips, but to truely recall your thoughts and feelings during them, you have to take another hit. It's impossible for me to do that, though. I'd probably sell my kidneys to make it possible again.

Are these drugs really that much worse than alcohol and tobacco?

Yes, they are. Alcohol is probably the most hypocritic drug in existance, though. I don't understand why on earth it's still legal. The only country to have banned it so far is Sri Lanka, which had the highest percentage of alcoholics in the world. The effects of alcohol cause the largest number of drug deaths, be it because of overdose or intoxicated driving/brawling/...

Should these drugs be taken more seriously?

Definetely. People should be more aware of the danger they harbour.

Do you really care if people consume these drugs?

No, as long as they know what they're doing, and keep the possible effects in mind.

What are you doing tomorrow night? etc....

None of your business...

I've thought about becoming an experience specialist, you know, people who talk in schools about drugs, not because I'm against them but because the youth should be aware of the danger they harbour. About one out of ten chronic cannabis users develops some form of psychosis, which is A LOT. I'm not saying that cannabis is the cause of this, but it definetely triggers something. Psychosis is 80% genetic, after all. LSD and mushrooms are the devil if you've got psychotic tendencies, but you most likely don't know about them until it's too late...

I sincerely doubt they'll allow someone like me near younglings, though. The usual prejudices and such...

I know this might sound out there but have you considered electroconvulsive therapy? I'm not even sure if this helps people with psychosis but it might be worth mentioning to your doctor. Usually when people are desperate they turn to this because most things aren't just working out. Sounds a bit extreme but who knows?

Anyway, I hope things turn out well.

It doesn't, not that I'd opt for it if it did, but...

As for the meditation, I've been doing that for years now. But it's currently a bit hard to tune out with a voice screaming in my ear.

I guess I could tell my psychiatrist, but more medication simply isn't a solution. I'm already at a very high dose of antipsychotics, which aren't the only meds I take.

I'm currently on abilify, seroquell, sypralexa, staurodorm, nozinan, lerivon, and dipiperon.

More medication isn't really an option, I believe...
Doesn't sound like it. Hmmm. How many milligrams are you taking for each dose of your medication? How many times have your psychiatrist already increased the dose?

I can't even remember the names of all the medication I've had to swallow the past few years, they just stuck with this cocktail because it worked well, without too many side-effects. I'm on the max dose for each one, except for the seroquell. Which is a good thing, 'cause it's also a sedative...
