Oh my god that sounds amazing!! i want to try this. How do u go about heating the oil? what do i Put it in (pretty sure i only have glass shot glasses) and how should it be heated (oven? stove?) and for how long? I have a gas stove if that changes anything.
As long as your shot glasses are fairly thick, you should be okay. I use an electric stove-top when i make it, and it always works pretty well for me. If you are using a gas burner, I'd recommend that you measure the oil out with the shot glass, and then pour it into the smallest pot/pan you have available.
I made it once in my buddy's dorm room over a propane gas burner in a small pot called a butter clarifier, and to be honest that actually worked better than in the shot glass.
As to how long you heat it, that varies. I'd say that over medium-high heat about 5 minutes does it. You'll be able to tell it's done when you can dip a tea spoon in it and the oil comes out dark and reeking of pot.
I like to strain the material out of the oil because it is f-in nasty to swallow when it's chunky, but the guy who i learned it from swears by chewing the oily grinds. I think he was just screwin with me on that one tho. Hope this helps, and have fun!
