You can't fault MGS4 for the product placement. The other stuff may be outright bullshit, but the product placement is... Progressive.

Y'see, lemme give you a little crash course about traditional advertising. TV. Printed media. Radio. Yeah. That's dying. It's becoming much to costly for advertisers to put their products up these days on the old school forms of media.

The problem is is that people will change the channel when a commercial comes on. Now, a video game is essentially a one channel television. Sure, you can play a different game, but you aren't going to hear a "Metal Gear Solid will be back after a word from our sponsors". In a way, Metal Gear Solid 4 is probably just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

My Xbox 360 is already RAPING me with product placement every time I so much as GLANCE at my dashboard.

It's cheaper.

It reaches more people.

It reaches the right demographic.

Get used to it.

And then Gordon will deliver his only line of the series. A line so hammed up and predictable that only a character who hasn't spoken for an entire game would have the brass balls to say.

And then it would cut to the credits.
