The game explains it - you jump when he's at his flattest state to raise the height of the subsequent jump.

I suppose. I like the design but the stilted animation kind of puts me off. But what do I know? My animation was white lines... :)

Does anyone know when the next Smash Bros X (Arrogancy) comes out?

After the game and Arrogancy 2. It's third on my list of articles. Here is an image from the animation ( I already started on it).

Tom, you're goign to have to edit that post with a fix. That crap installed itself on my PC, and I removed it, with either adaware or a virus scan - I dunno, I did both at the same time. However, it places something in your computer that makes it remake your start page even if you manually do it yourself.

99k was pretty good, although a bit confusing at times (and some of the timing was weird). The rest was typical Newgrounds stuff.

You're forgetting something, but first, I sense a tad bit of jealousy coming from you, and don't call yourself the defender of quality flash...Not once did I hear you complain about IllWillPress when his junk got so high. The only reason you're complaining about Retarded Animal Babies is because your movie scores couldn't reach that level. Now, back to what you were forgetting, if you paid attention to when the 3rd animal babies cartoon debuted, it had around the same rating, maybe a bit less. The rating stayed like that for a long while as well, eventually though, it dropped, and it's at the level it is now. Give it some time and maybe your dream will come true. And next time you want to complain about something, complain about something that really DOES take no effort and really IS pointless. Obviously, you think too highly of yourself and need to reconsider who the immature ones on Newgrounds are. Oh and Tommorows_Nobody, if you're reading this, and I think you should be, your movie wasn't too great, I gave it a 10 because it was creative and took effort, but honestly, it wasn't that funny...and look back at what score YOUR movie passed under.

What are you talking about? The only reason that I commented on this was because I happened to be more active than I normally am at this site due to having just submitted a movie - and clicking on the week's results showed me a 4.58 movie; something I had never seen here before (the BEST stuff here - Karma Ghost, From My Room, etc. barely scratched 4).

I don't know -what- Retarded Animal Babies 3 was because I didn't pay it any attention when it came out, as I already said. I'm only "active" commenting here around the time that I submit stuff - other than that, I drop by twice a week or so and scan for new Flash to inspire me or to learn from. I used to be more active, in the olden days, but the age/culture difference became grating after a while.

The day I actually start worrying about scores and ranking on Newgrounds is the day I make a HOTXXXHENTAISCENE between Arrogancy and Maria in one of my movies. In other words, don't count on it.

Now who is littlewillpress? I have to look him up to see what you're talking about.

FART

In other news, thanks for all the 5's! Me are love you too. I'm more than happy to lower the standards of toon viewers everywhere with my shitty shittery. It browns the fingers and warms the heart. It rubs the lotion. Well grease my feet and make me a pot pie!

Actually, I didn't even realize that was you until you replied just now. This is the first Retarded Animal Babies that I've watched - I normally don't watch things that center around poop jokes, etc. and watched this one because of its high score.

Sorry, I don't get "pissed" - as I don't really care about reviews/rankings on this site much. I just decide whether what is said is applicable or not after reading it - whether positive or negative.

Anyway, none of that changes what I said - which basically centers around the same point - the scores are reflective of a site that is controlled by little kids.

BTW, the scores are higher initially because of protection points. Once movies hit the top 50, then those that have little else to do will vote 0s on stuff constantly to lower it to a sufficient enough level to remove it from the top 50. It used to be a 3.5 or so before the protection point system (as people would initially vote lower) - now the bar has been raised to the low fours.

Yeah, it deserves it too!
you really think it is THE greatest peice of flash on this site?

I can't believe the standards now.. its upsetting.
make a cartoon with high pitch voices and boobs and you get 4+
Although I do enjoy some of retarded animal babies.. 4+'s used to be a very rare thing..

No reason to be "upset," really. Just look at who spends the most time and energy voting. It keeps everything in perspective.

I normally don't comment on this type of stuff, but...

The only reason that it "deserves" the score is because this site is frequented by little kids who know nothing about aesthetics, timing, animation, etc. and care only about poop jokes, vulgarity, and nudity.

So yes, when surrounded by elementary/middle schoolers, being the "best" on the site is warranted. For those of us that have a bit of maturity, and/or actual knowledge of the medium, some of the wittier parts are respected (ie. some of the channels; the use of the television) - but it definitely isn't the best movie on this site. Not by a long shot. And definitely doesn't deserve a 4.5 average.

The only reason I complain is because the success of elementary stuff like this only encourages more elementary - type stuff, which isn't the way to go. Sure, poop jokes appeal to the kiddies - but that won't get you anywhere in the long run.

Man, the little kids on this site have no reading comprehension. I write stuff on my submissions that explains things, people can't read it and complain about the same things I just explained or referenced in my writing. Wade types out a post, a bunch of little kids can't read, and they complain about irrelevant stuff.

Thus the problem about a site that attracts a bunch of little kids with no reading comprehension. I fear when I realize that this generation is the future. *shudder*

There's no reason you need 7 megs to upload a full song - because there's no reason that you should submit a Flash movie with a 7 meg song attached.Play around with the encoding - between 56 kbps and 96 kbps should be your aim depending on the type/length of loop.

I agree that the filesize limit should be around 1 - 2 megs because even with the trickiest encoding, you can only fit a minute or so into 500kb. That's fine to a degree, but some flash movies require more than short loops. Of course a way around this is to provide a link to the full song that the loop is taken from in the description so that people can download them from whatever site they're located at - which is something Tom should address on the front page.

Anyway, making all the music original is a good idea because it gets rid of people voting high because (random pupular song) is attached.

SESS does have a valid point when he said that he knows more after doing. Artist votes are normally completely different from viewers because they can see how stuff is made when watching. I personally think that Super Console Wars is boring and easy, albet time consuming, to do. However, I respect his efforts and imagination and just don't vote on it/review them.

As for someone who said that my stuff is "all motion tweening," it's actually a mix of both - more and more as I have improved. For instance, the Arrogancy: AS Preview contains frame by frame AND motion tweening in almost every scene - it's a subtle scene; so the animations themselves are subtle - they aren't "obvious" animations, but contain the same mix as many anime series. That's what it is styled after, animation wise - anime doesn't have the budget to completely animate characters that detailed on a weekly/26 episode basis, so they mix motion tweening with frame by frame.

I suggested the "authors have more voting power" thing a million times, but that's not feasable because that would piss off the kiddies that power this site and are mad because their vote spamming doesn't make them all-powerful.

If your movies are ever on the front page, you'll get a pretty decent vote because casual voters see them and vote on what they feel. Once the voting gets to be strictly to the portal, it gets skewed because people are just voting according to cliques or what they are championing to be in the top 50 (ie. they'll vote movies they love 5s every day, and anything that is beating them zeros). Which is retarded, but really, there's no reason an author should actually care, KNOWING that that is the mentality behind the voting.

This site is filled with little kids. Save a few of Tom's games and a few others (including Sim Girl, actually), most of the games are crap - just like most of the movies are crap.

I agree, Super Console Wars is COMPLETELY overrated - it's all motion tweened predone artwork with no real sense of direction and cutting; and some crappy artwork ninja and vampire movies appear on the top 50 from time to time - but some of the overrated games are just as crappy on their own merits, no matter how much "longer" they took to make.

Time is not completely relevant when it comes to quality. Some people take two years to make crap. It's all about the finished product. I stopped caring about pleasing the kiddies a long time ago, which is why I'm veering toward other types of projects that don't involve stupid blood and nudity that are focused on improving my own skills.

Once you realize that you're babysitting here - you stop caring about the 8 year olds that travel around the portal thinking that gaining experience points on a freaking website is "cool." Once you see what they actually LIKE, you are almost happy to see your stuff blammed. :)

Some people really know how to betray their artistic gifts and sell out...

I wish I could sell out every day I wake up and realize that my account is slowly dwindling.

The first thing that you realize as an artist is that in order to make any sort of living, you have to sell out in one way or another.

If I didn't have a strict anti-porn stance, I'd create stuff for Nudegrounds too.

And if I didn't have any taste, I'd fill Arrogancy with blood and Matrix-type-effects for all of the little kiddies.

You have to sell-out to make money, sadly.
