That page has links to the amen, funky drummer and apache and some other popular ones. =]

Thanks a million :) . But impeach is missing :( . Oh well, I already have it anyways. Are there any more breaks elsewhere?

Response to: Punk is NOT a music genre! Posted November 3rd, 2007 in Audio

lol. But on a serious note:

Your statement can apply to almost every modern musical genre, as Nithalahk said. And also, "Punk" is a subgenre of "Rock" with many more subgenres within it, and the bands and songs in each subgenre of the "Punk" subgenre are categorized according to the sound of the music, not by public opinion. In Avril's case, it would probably be "Pop-Punk"- ironically the least popular of the "Punk" subgenres. Same can be said about "Hip-Hop" as well. "Hip Hop" has two main subgenres- "Modern (New school)" and "Old School." In these subgenres are more subgenres, each with it's own subgenres and so on and so forth. Stop whining over what the music industry is doing. You are all about revolution right? Well stop ranting and do something already.

Ok... actually, PX9s style has not been replicated much... I think he's the only Breaktrance producer here, or at least trance with breakbeats under it. His stuff is pretty original, and its good, and that's why people like him.

Yes, its a him.

Oh really? Wow, I thought he was a she? It say he was a she on his/ her profile last time I checked. Anyways, aside from Paragon's gender, just because he gets more attention doesn't mean he's not worthy of having fans. He's good at what he does, and that's why I'm a big fan. I also have other artists that I like which don't receive all that much attention. Personally, I'm not sure if I can handle all the attention, when people anticipate something great all the time.

Yeah, but I'm trying to re-create the sound of the early DNB/ Jungle movement in the UK. So I need some samples to slice and stuff.

Response to: Music Needed Posted November 3rd, 2007 in Audio

I have one (electric accoustic), but I'm not sure if I've learned enough to do whatever it is you are asking. Is it single notes or chords? Or a combo of both? Cuz I can do it, but it'll take time to get perfect (how much time depends on what it is you want me to play).

Response to: Collaborative Ng Sample Pack Posted November 3rd, 2007 in Audio

I'll post some stuff here tommorow. I have some breakbeats and some random samples. Not to mention: Sytrus Presets ^_^

Response to: Question about guitars Posted November 3rd, 2007 in Audio

do you mean steel accoustic? Or electric accoustic? And same as what, crappy or same as an electric guitar? Sorry, just need some clarification.

Response to: What exactly fits into Hip Hop? Posted November 3rd, 2007 in Audio

Sounds good. Well, I'm not so afraid to put stuff under that category anymore.

Breakbeats Posted November 3rd, 2007 in Audio

does anyone have a link to a site that has most or all of the popular breakbeats (tramen, amen, funky drummer, apache, impeach, bond, blackgrass etc.) . Or possibly a zip or rar with all of them? If you can't, can you please list all the breaks you know, so I can try to look for them indivually.

Response to: What exactly fits into Hip Hop? Posted November 2nd, 2007 in Audio

See, that's why it was so confusing to post in there, there are no set boundaries.... just like Misc.

Response to: Question about guitars Posted November 2nd, 2007 in Audio

Thanks for the info. I ran a recording of my acc. guitar through the distortion (GuitarFX) and it came out a bit weird. But SimulAnalog looks nice, and I'm going to try the electric accoustic with it (using protools).

Response to: What exactly fits into Hip Hop? Posted November 1st, 2007 in Audio

Hmmm.... so you guys are saying put whatever I think is hip- hop into hip hop? Because I don't want to put it in the wrong genre.

Response to: Fl Studio 7 Vs. Reason 4 Vs. Sonar7 Posted November 1st, 2007 in Audio

I would go with FL, but if I only knew how to use reason, I would use reason. I just can't understand where all the 'lil wires go and what all the buttons do. That's because I'm more software/ sequencer than hardware based. Hope this helps you in some way.

Response to: Collaborative Ng Sample Pack Posted November 1st, 2007 in Audio

Well yeah, but most people don't make their own sounds. That would mean this topic would shrivel up and die. So I added the possibilty of added freeware sounds.

Response to: Question about guitars Posted November 1st, 2007 in Audio

Thanks, I'll look into that, and I'll try and post what I come up with.

Response to: Collaborative Ng Sample Pack Posted November 1st, 2007 in Audio

argh:

It's not "With the program these particular samples are for," it's "the name of the program,"

Example:

Reason/...

At 11/1/07 01:12 AM, Kamunt wrote: Voice samples are always nice, yesh. :3 You can never have too many of those. By "providing sounds" or whatever, do you mean like things that we ourselves have produced, or say, free samples and what not that we've found wherever?

I'm thinking a mixture of both, since people tend to not record their own stuff, but some do. I take it these are the general conditions:

-No warez
-If you include something that is NOT yours, cite the creator or site in which it is hosted on.

In fact, I'll lay down the general guideline here:

If you are interested in contributing to the NG sample pack, please carefully follow these directions. Do NOT haphazardly throw a bunch of random sounds in a zip, upload it, and then try to submit it. Your submission WILL be ignored.

1. Categorize your sounds! Create a folder with the program these particular samples are for, and put these folders into that folder:

-Drumkits
-Voice and Vocals
-Synths and Presets
-Instruments/ Soundbanks
-Other

Put the samples into whatever category best suits them. You may also make folders within those folders to be more specific (e.g. Drumkits/ Hip Hop/Drumkit01). But, don't be TOO specific (e.g. Drumkits/ Hip Hope/ Drumkit01/ Snare). Here is an overview of what should go where:

Drumkits- INDIVIDUAL samples (singleshots) of drums arranged into "kits" e.g. "Rock Kit"

Voice and Vocals- Voice samples. Basically anything that has talking. Do NOT stick in something that can be easily synthesized e.g. Using a Vox to make a phrase.

Synths and Presets- Freeware VSTs and presets for both free and not- free VSTs/

Instruments/ Soundbanks- Freeware soundbanks (soundfonts).

Other- Anything that does NOT fit in ANY of the above.

2. Include CREDITS to whoever made them! Make a text file listing each file and whoever made them. If for some reason, you don't know who to credit, put this:

If own any of the material in this archive and wish to have it removed, please contact me a [List ways to contact you here]

Don't want a lawsuit now do we?

3. Stick it in a ZIP. Some people are too lazy to get WinRAR or other archive programs. Some just can't do to hardware. So stick it in a ZIP.

4. Upload it somewhere. PLEASE AVOID rapidshare, since most people are unregistered to that site and get horrendous waiting times between files. Try box.net, megaupload, or some other place. Just avoid places that make you wait for a VERY long time between downloads.

5. Post the link here! The submission will be inspected before we can add it to the "Main Archive,' or the file that everyone will download at the end.

Remember:

NO WAREZ!

What exactly fits into Hip Hop? Posted November 1st, 2007 in Audio

I have this strange fear of submitting into the Hip-Hop Genres, so I've been submitting into the Misc. Genre all this time. I feel the only way to fix this i with knowledge:

What exactly goes into the Hip-Hop categories? Bear in mind, I know absolutely nothing about what the sub-genres are or who most popular artists are, but please don't try to stop me by saying:

"You know absolutely nothing about Hip-Hop! So why the fuck are you making it?!"

Coz it's happened b4 and it gets annoying.

Response to: Collaborative Ng Sample Pack Posted November 1st, 2007 in Audio

How about we first do voice samples, because they are the hardest to find.

Response to: anybody make hip-hop instrumentals? Posted November 1st, 2007 in Audio

I kinda do... I kinda try to fuse a hip hop type beat with other genres. And sometimes I just use old breaks and samples. And so far, I've been getting somewhat nice results. Check out my newer stuff.

Question about guitars Posted October 31st, 2007 in Audio

I just learned how to play a handful of chords and to seamlessly switch between each one. Now, I wanna record myself playing with protools and I have two questions:

1 If you play a nylon/ steel accoustic guitar and add some disortion, will it sound the same as an electric? What about an electric accoustic?

2. You know how guitarists run their E. Guitars through a distortion box? Is there a computer equivalent to that? Like something that distorts the sound in the same fashion?

Response to: Am I getting worse?? Posted October 30th, 2007 in Audio

Thanks for the feedback, now I'm more confident than ever :) ! Also, I kinda want to broaden this topic a
little:

Why do people listen and vote on a song from a genre which they know they don't like? I mean, do they vote it down because of the genre itself, or are they just so ignorant they think it's stupid, without giving some reasons why or critism?

And also, what do you mean by:

"You're starting to create a common sound."

What is this "common sound" so I can distance myself from that.

Well, I think I'm "drifting into an artform that isn't to the taste of the crowd." Since I don't see many people that really like the Hip-Hopish sound I've been trying to fuse with some other stuff (I think I am at a stage where I should be looking for a sound that fits me and my music). And I know the prominent genres here are the Video Game genre and the Electronica genres. The Hip-Hop genres are often overlooked as most famous NG ppl don't hang around there (cept Greeksta 69 :) ).
But idk, I'll make whatever the hell I wanna make, when I wanna make it.

Am I getting worse?? Posted October 30th, 2007 in Audio

Bbased on some recent reviews and ratings I've received, I'm doing WORSE than last year. What gives? I'm getting 4's and 5's, then WHAM! two straight out failures (according to reviews)? I mean, they sounded good when I listened to them, and when my friends and family listened to them. So:

- Am actually getting worse?
- If so, why, and how would I fix it?

Sorry to kinda "advertise" but it's bugging me alot to have my 2 most recent submissions blammed to death.

Audio Portal Update Posted September 16th, 2007 in Audio

I'm loving the new update, with all it's fancy visualizations and improved graphics. However, I think it is lacking some things as well. For starters, I liked the normal, gold, diamond, platinum, etc. disks idea, it kinda gives you a goal, like to get your first gold, etc. Secondly, I liked how in the old audio portal, an artist could look over at all of his/her songs and get all the details at a glance (number of reviews, number of submissions it was used in, etc.), but with the new system, you must look at each and every one in order to see these details, preventing the artist from knowing if they have new reviews on an old song. Lastly (this one isn't a big deal), it kinda gets annoying how you have to click 'read all reviews' to respnd to one review.

I know it's been a while since the update first came out, but I still felt like I needed to say this, is there anyone who feels the same about this?

Response to: Have You Seen This Audio? Posted August 14th, 2007 in Audio

Darnit, you beat me to it >:( Anyways it really just sounds like a high-pitched synth that's either mono/ using pitch bends/ using slides.
