I'll get back to you once I read up on the continuation of the Fleetway Sonic comics. That's the only fan continuation I know of. Y'know, aside from game developers reviving series they liked as kids, or writers taking over writing Batman, or some shit.

As long as they understood what purposes the games were going for I don't really much harm done since it's not official product of that license but maybe theorize a few of the cannons not mentioned nearly enough in games that it could somehow be tied in properly to be legit.
