R.I.P. Ahmed Zaki
I feel like I should share this with you. Over the ages, Egypt has been making a LOT of movies. In fact, Egypt is the only arab country to produce movies.
Since the 1970's, Ahmed Zaki, a great actor, received LOTS of awards and praise from the movie critics. He was considered a turning point for Egyptian movies, as none reached the fine quality of his work. Almost a year ago, Ahmed Zaki found a cancer infection in his body. He rushed off to Paris to help remove it, and it was all going well. Then it suddenly reached his lungs and his liver, driving him mad. He was put into a coma last week, and he has died today.
Here's an article:
Esteemed actor Ahmed Zaki passed away Sunday 27th of March, after a long and painful struggle with cancer. The 55 year old actor had discovered he had cancer about a year ago and had since been receiving treatment, both in Paris and Cairo. Zaki was recently admitted to the intensive care unit in Dar El-Fouad Hospital after suffering complications when the deadly disease started spreading in his lungs and liver. Zaki had also gone into a coma last week after suffering several brain strokes that were not responding to treatment or medication.
On another note, his latest movie (which is still in development) is a biography of Abdel-Halim, an old Egyptian singer. At the end of that movie, they were to shoot Halim's funeral. Instead, they're going to take Ahmed Zaki's funeral ceremony and put it in Halim's place.
