Me = Actionscript Noob!! Posted March 9th, 2007 in Game Development

Someone PLEEEEASE help! I've been trying for awhile to figure this out.. and I just can't seem to get it.. Here's the scoop.. I'm making a Flash game for my girlfriend where you play as a ladybug and collect(eat) aphids(the bugs that ladybugs eat.. romantic, I know). I have it so that it duplicates the aphid MovieClip , but I can't seem to figure out how to make the duplicated aphids disappear when the ladybug touches them.. As the Subject of my post claims.. I'm a noob at ActionScripting, so any help will be greatly appreciated and I will credit anyone who is able to help out. Thanks in advance!

Okay, I'll try it in steps..

1] Make a new MovieClip Symbol [CTRL + F8]
2] Import the animated gif containing the walk-cycle of the character.
3] Go into your main character MovieClip[with the 8poses]
4] Select which frame you want each direction of walking to be on
5] Go to the frame you selected for each gif
6] Open your Library [ F11 I think ]
7] Find the MovieClip with the walking gif in it.
8] Drag the Gif into the MovieClip's stage
9] Move it around to match the other poses [onion skin to see where the position of the rest of them is]

Good luck!

Just import the animated walk-cycle into a new MovieClip, then open your Library. Go into the character MovieClip, with the 8 frames containing the different poses, etc. and drag the walk-cycle MovieClip from the Library into the frame and position it accordingly. Good luck!

All you have to do, is make every symbol have it's own layer.
Sprite 1 = Layer 1
Sprite 2 = Layer 2

etc.

You can't tween two symbols that are on the same layer.

Yeah, um.. not to be rude, but.. that idea sounds like a little kids' show.. very childish. No offense..

Onion skin / FbF'ing is the best way to go!

Response to: what type of style do you use Posted June 22nd, 2006 in Game Development

I've also been developing my style. I'm still trying to improve. I do anime at the moment.. but I would LOVE to try a Disney kind of style, or possibly an Anime/Disney combination. I don't know, but drawing and animating is fun. =)

Tuts = tutorials
Tutorials = things to help you improve your skills
Skill improvement = decent/good flashes
Decent/good Flashes = Fun times
Fun times = Well.. that's self-explanitory.. right?

Noooooooooooooooo problem *puts on shades and walks away*

Response to: button trouble Posted May 21st, 2006 in Game Development

Put the following code in your Button:

on(release){
gotoAndStop(frame);
}

Just replace the word 'frame' with the frame number you want the button to direct you to.

There's an option in the properties when you choose the audio you want to have, if it says Event.. change it to Stream.

LOL.. nobody said to do that! Damn.. I've been waiting so long for nothing.. no I haven't emailed him. Thanks!

Deleting Flashes? Posted May 17th, 2006 in Game Development

I did what everyone said to do to get my Flash file deleted from NG, and that was like 2 months ago, and it's still on my account. Did I do something wrong, are they ignoring me, or are they just taking a long time 'cause there's so many?

Response to: Can anyone help me make my site? Posted April 2nd, 2006 in Game Development

Well, be more specific, what are you trying to accomplish with your site?

Response to: Can anyone help me make my site? Posted April 2nd, 2006 in Game Development

What do you mean 'help you make your site' ?

About the widescreen thing.. I think it will show your Flash, but it will probably be surrounded by black or something, unless you make the Flash widescreen.

Response to: Need help finding a free Flash host Posted March 10th, 2006 in Game Development

Have you tried ImageShack ..?

Response to: Flash Movie Preview Updated Posted January 18th, 2006 in Game Development

Very nice Flash you've got going there.. the only thing I don't like is.. some of the backgrounds are image files and not Flash-drawn, but good otherwise. You should just trace the backgrounds or something.
Keep it up!
