I hit my post quota for 30 minutes and it blocked me out, so I'm gonna start doing these in clusters.

Atoms aren't made for anything. Seeing as how there aren't any real heavy atoms in any substance in cushions (unless it's made in China, the God only knows), you can't split it. But there are probably carbon atoms in cushions, seeing as how carbon is in all natural fibers and most plastics, and there are also carbon atoms in your hand. What am I getting at here? Punch someone with your hand, there's cushion atoms in it.

Dust doesn't really count because you can't really manipulate it at all, but I guess if you're going to go there it could be infused with small amounts of a powerful nerve agent and released among other dust particles, where is could be inhaled and possibly kill the inhaler.

Well, I don't believe in the necessity of failure to unite the country either. First off, the better body armor and the public activity would actually make the military action more efficient, thus, probably successful, and it wasn't about the media's influence on theconflict anyways. I'm just gonna assume you're tired. We all are. Then again, it was an interesting concept.

Well, first off, sorry about bumping the thread, but I'm a little high-strung right now. It worked, didn't it? (Man, I hope I don't get banned for saying that.)

Also, it was kind of related to the armor. I mean, it all came around in the end. I started just talking about the armor, and then I was distracted by my own thoughts so I drifted into a rant, but it was relevant to the body armor.

I thought Texas for sure lol... Then again, I'd give anything to be able to carry MY guns on campus, especially if I end up going to Wayne State. Any Michigander knows Wayne State is a great college in a bad neighborhood. Listen, I'm not a fan of being mugged at knifepoint. I've been mugged before, it fucking sucks. I'm carrying a knife at all times, and if I get to carry a gun too, all the better.

I'm not saying everyone gets a gun, I'm saying there should be extensive background checking, testing, and regulation. The ones proven responsible and competent should get to carry a concealed weapon. The chances of them having to use them are slim anyways.

You can't deny that there are some people in this world that are bound to do bad things, and if the people have a means of defense, then the bad person will have less of a chance of harming an innocent person. Knives should be allowed on campus, and guns should be allowed on campus for the competent and responsible.

Sarkozy is younger than most previous French presidents and seems to have very good ideas to make of France a more advanced country, as well as seeking to increase the economy by promoting more industries and work, which will probably help the salary of people a lot. He also plans to make of France a safer, law abiding place.

Well, the space for debate is open.

This thread is for people who want to talk about whatever the hell they feel like. Debate. Comment. Rant. It's all cool. Reply to what someone says, or change the subject entirely. Let's get some discussion going here.

Here's something to start us off: this is a reply I made about body armor and our troops in the Middle-East. Should Interceptor or DragonSkin be the standard in protection?

At 5/26/07 10:45 PM, Anti901 wrote: Personally, I favor DragonSkin. The coverage is better, and it can take a hit in the same area multiple times, unlike Interceptor, which has ceramic plates that crack and shatter when hit. Also, DragonSkin provides better protection against blades, such as bayonets, knives, or (less probably) arrows. But then the question comes up about funding. Well, DragonSkin is more expensive. We should do what we did in WWII and make our factories mass-produce it. It uses about the same materials as the Interceptor, so why not?

Here's where I start my own little political rant, so feel free to stop reading.

Ignore that part, or you may as well leave the thread now.

I think it's because the government doesn't want to make the public believe we're actually at war. The media tries to keep us in line by fear, while the government tries to anaesthetize us by making it appear that all is well. We have these two powers- the scare-tactic media, and the security-blanket government- keeping us as repressed and as close to the social norm as possible.

I'm not one of those conspiracy-theorists who wears tin-foil hats, and I'm not saying we don't have freedom in this country, I'm just saying people are being dumbed down and numbed by modern society.

Let me give you an example. Do you think about the "War on Terror" everyday? Does the fact that we're at war directly influence your daily life? I know it doesn't influence mine. If you're like most Americans, if you hear that someone was killed in action you'll say "Gee, that's too bad. Poor guy." and you'll get on with your life as if nothing had happened. It's almost as if the war doesn't exist.
Now here's another example. Did you avoid spinach when the E-Coli scare was going around? Do you think about global warming on a daily basis? If you're like most Americans, then you're probably worried about the future of the planet. That's because the media has us too preoccupied with cancer in our food to think about the task at hand.

If the government were to comandeer the economy and mass-produce DragonSkin, then America would realize just how real the war is. There would be a public outcry on both sides of the spectrum. America would be caught in an uprising, and the government would have a much harder time controlling its people. It would be Vietnam all over again, and that's something the government wants to avoid.
However, in my opinion, another Vietnam is exactly what America needs. Nothing unites a country like hardship. We need to realize that the war isn't just a sitcom on the other side of the world, it's reality. Emotion and art would return to society. People would voice their opinions to the world. America would be a great nation once again. Americans need to wake up from their media-induced stupor, march on Washington, and tell the government exactly what they want.

In the short term, DragonSkin could save some soldiers' lives. In the long run, it could save America.

Well there you go. Anyone else feel like talking? Step up and enjoy. Personally, I'd rather discuss my little tirade, not body armor. That's why I started this thread. What can I say, I'm one vain sonofabitch,

Yeah, I made some basic platform engines, but I really feel like they need some violence. That's why I want to make a defense game. It'd be a lot easier than giving a platform-character guns and making the damn thing have to move AND shoot.

Okay, first off, I know I already have a post like this. I can't help it, I'm OCD and otherwise have nothing to do, so I'm a little impatient. My bad.

Anyways, I need some help making a defense game. I have some flash and AS experience, but not much. I plan on making a "Storm the House" style game, and I need to know how to make a rotating turret, moving guys, all that basic crap, as well as how to make splash damage, arcing projectiles, and 'recoil' deviation. If anyone can just straight-up tell me or refer me to a tutorial, that'd be great.

Thanks a bunch.
