Oh yeah, here's my second submission for the bots:
Apocalypse Storm

Makes me think of a flash submission storm for P-Bot to take care of.

No seriously.... Genres almost seem to go by region. I see lots of awesome techno from Sweden, lots of good classical/ambient from Canada, and so on and so forth. Anyone else noticed this or am I crazy?

There's probably many more people in Sweden who are interested in techno and trance than in some other places, like here in the US where hip hop is more mainstream. Which really is a shame, since hip hop is the worst excuse for music in history, IMO. It's annoying to hear my college roommate playing the same cRAPpy songs through his speakers every day.

But I live in the US and I'm a techno guy.

Explain Brit Pop. Why is that a separate genre?

We have a pop genre. That's what its for.

Also, I like Synthpop. Link to song?

Traditional pop is not the same as synthpop. But here's the link:

I've been trying for the past two or three months to make a decent trance track, or anything for that matter, But haven't been able to get anything going.

My two biggest problems are percussion, and synths.

I guess I could use a few tips on where to get inspiration if that's possible...

Help?

You can find loads of VST plugins on the net that might help out, many are free and many others cost money. You can also download some better percussion samples, since the ones that come with the program are pretty bad IMO. One VST that I like to use is z3ta but that costs money.

AIM Audio ppl =) Posted March 6th, 2008 in Audio

i make this thread so audio ppl can be connected through the popular AIM Messenger Service..

I don't have MSN and neither do many other people, so feel free to post your AIM screenname. And yes people do have it in their profiles, but I find it easier to not have to click on everyone's name just to see it.

Rule 10 @ Ejay
They do have nice samplesets, though.
yeah but he will get an instant ban if he try's to submit any "songs" from that prog. to NG. ;)

Also, it's not really a "music" program. At least I can't count it under that. Sure, you can learn some basics with it but it's really nothing to begin with for real.

WRONG!!! eJay does have its premade samples, but the newer versions also include tools to make your own samples. There's no reason you can't use eJay (although I don't) and not be a good composer. Here's a guy who makes his own stuff with eJay and he's not half bad:

Music from Dance Ejay 7.

Disagree. Older versions of the program used to focus more on preset loops, but newer versions have generators like more reputable music programs do. I don't prefer the program but my brother uses it and makes some pretty decent stuff without using preset loops. On occasion he'll use a preset to make a cool-sounding effect, but people who use FL studio do that on occasion as well.

As for exporting, there's an export button below the save button. That'll give you a wav file, and then you can use Audacity to convert to mp3.

Response to: NG Stepmania Pack? Posted January 4th, 2008 in Audio

Someone made a Stepmania mix for one of my songs for a contest back in 06. PM me about it and I'll let you know which one, I'd rather say privately since I don't want to be pointed at for advertising my music.

I think next MAC should have an action music theme, that would make things more exciting and popular. Just my rapidly-declining-in-value-against-the-E uro US two cents.

Sounds great, thanks. My songs are usually short so I guess I may as well go for 320 from now on.

Audio Submission Question Posted September 22nd, 2007 in Audio

Does it matter what bitrate the song is exported at for being able to submit it? I've been around for awhile but I've always submitted my songs at 128k bitrate.

Response to: Idea: Remix of a Remix chain... Posted September 20th, 2007 in Audio

Well it could work, assuming the previous remix is just modified to be better instead of completely changed. But eventually there would come a point where it's pretty tough to make any better.

The New Audio Portal - Good/bad Posted September 20th, 2007 in Audio

Does anyone besides me prefer some of the features of the old AP format? I liked how all of my songs were conveniently listed on one page in the order that they were submitted. Made it a bit easier to get more attention for songs. Otherwise the new format is very nice, but it seems like songs get less downloads/attention overall. Could just be me though, since I haven't been submitting very often in recent times.

But I guess all audio on one page would be the biggest convenience to still have. What do you guys think of the new format so far?

Response to: Audio Advertisements! Posted September 20th, 2007 in Audio

Check my sig for my newest song.

Been awhile since I've made something but I'm gonna get back in the game now.
