NOOOOOOO I was working on something for this contest and now I realize the deadline has passed already, what the EFF! Guess I'll have to do a regular AP submission.

That's awesome! It feels like not so long ago when you were new to making music. I never would have thought you'd enjoy the success you're enjoying now, congrats man.

to be honest, im surprised no one's nominated axeFX yet. the others... well idk.

I'll nominate axeFX, forgot about him. He's been on NG longer than it shows, since he used to submit under a different account name for a number of years.

Ok so I live in North Jersey, but go to school in Southern Jersey. A couple of my friends told me they heard a loud boom, and shaking.
Apparently there was a magnitude 3.0 earthquake! That's fucking nuts!
ITS JERSEY! WE DON'T GET EARTHQUAKES!

I live in Central Jersey (in school in Maryland now) and I remember something about a somewhat nearby tornado when I was younger. It was pretty cool, I happened to be looking out the window and everything was dead silent and still, then suddenly this really intense wind started blowing and tree bark was flying everywhere. However maybe my memory is distorted since a tornado seems unlikely, could have just been a really bad storm.

There was also this other time when there was a tropical storm so everything got flooded and school was cancelled. It was pretty awesome.

Response to: Aaaaugh, politics rant! Posted February 2nd, 2009 in Audio

theta does have a point, a lot of very generic-sounding songs do get a lot of attention. But that's often how music works in the real world, too.

IMO the point of making music isn't to have others appreciate it, but for yourself to appreciate it and have fun doing it. Newgrounds is good because there's a lot of great artists here on the forums who help each other become better musicians, therefore allowing themselves to appreciate their own work more. I don't post on the forums too often but I think I've inspired myself to begin doing so more.

Song Link Problem Posted January 31st, 2009 in Audio

I noticed that when people link songs there is now a fancy image showing all the info about the song and stuff. So how come when I linked my song (in the Audio Advertisements thread of course) it just appeared as a LINE OF TEXT? WHAT THE BUTT IS GOING ON???

Thanks for the help.

Love, Anth0n.

Or you can leave yo computah on all teh time!!!!!! With the program running, of course. Then you can finish songs.

Response to: The Reason Zero Voters Exist Posted July 14th, 2008 in Audio

Man I've been around long enough to know there have been plenty of threads like these. I just felt like getting my ideas out there.

The Reason Zero Voters Exist Posted July 13th, 2008 in Audio

Obviously because everyone wants their own music to come out on top. Regular NG users do not bother with the audio portal because they don't get anything from it. Most people who vote on people's audio are audio portal contributors themselves. Zero voters are not a problem in the flash portal because regular NG users have reasons to vote on flash submissions. So this is what needs to happen:

1. The ability for audio submissions to be blammed and protected. This means the ability for users to get blam and protection points, encouraging fair voting.

2. Being able to gain experience by voting on five audio submissions a day. Users will be able to gain experience by voting on flash and additional experience by voting on audio.

3. A daily top five instead of a weekly top five.

Now you may think that the ability to blam audio submissions is a bad idea because of zero voters. But by encouraging regular NG users to vote instead of just other audio artists, the contribution of zero voters will be negligible. Truly bad or stolen audio will be blammed on the spot while the real submissions survive and gain some recognition in the judgment process. It's time to make the audio portal a real portal.

Response to: Well its been fun Posted July 13th, 2008 in Audio

I see what Chronamut is saying about the redesign. Before the redesign the AP was a smaller community, so each artist had more recognition and listeners took them more seriously. That's my opinion, anyway. Now because of all the new submitters no one really knows who anyone is.

Thanks, how processor-intensive are those? I've got dual 2.40 GHz processors, but I use FL Studio 7 and I'm pretty sure it doesn't support dual core. Which means I've basically got one 2.40 GHz processor.

Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be free.

Hopefully the theme is somewhat flexible and can incorporate a wide variety of stylistic approaches. That would make the competition interesting.

Though a few minor things could be done- like having a bit of more variation in the first minute- I'm getting dizzy from hearing that kick 'n choir sound (first heard at 0:08). I really have no idea what more to suggest :( and it doesn't make sense to comment on those months old wips that were posted earlier.

Therefore I am a bit ashamed to ask for opinions and ideas for this one thing I made just about now (any ideas for names anyone?):

Your song is very relaxing and has a soothing melody. Sounds like it would go great with some vocals, plus then you don't have to worry about repetition as much. I like the rhythm and the percussion in general. One thing I would change is to make the bass slightly more pronounced, but that's more of a personal preference.

Here's my work in progress if any of you guys care to give feedback:

Response to: The Top 100 Audio Reviewers List Posted July 9th, 2008 in Where is / How to?

Can't believe I didn't realize this existed until now. I'm not on the list anymore but apparently I was #75 on the very first list.

So back in September 07 I made a news post and was able to have it appear on the front page under "Artist News." But now I can't figure out how to do it again. What's going on?
