The search bar really is a wonderful thing. Just because someone's too lazy to use it doesn't mean they should make a new topic instead of adding to one that exists.

Response to: The most useless key on a keyboard? Posted July 8th, 2008 in General

Has to be Insert. I hate that button. I press it by accident constantly on regular keyboards, and then invariably write over a good portion of my text. Couple that with the horrible Undo history of most word processors, and you get RAGE. Thankfully, on this laptop, it's up in the top right corner, out of the way.

A lot of people seem to use their computers for almost nothing. Whoever said the F1-F12 keys should go needs to seriously re-evaluate their usefulness. In flash, F5, F6, and F7 are some of the most important keyboard shortcuts in the entire program. They're also used in many PC games. Same thing with the Fn key-- I never use it, but (on a laptop keyboard, anyway) there are several commands that are unusable without it. There just aren't enough buttons. The little arrow over the list is essentially a keyboard-shortcut right-click. Position your cursor over something and press that button, and you'll get the right-click menu.

What I think keyboards need, above all else, is a big red PANIC button that closes all running applications. That could help me out a lot.

Response to: Problems with my tablet? Posted July 7th, 2008 in Game Development

a. it might just be really terrible. brand, name, price, etc plz
b. if it came out as an oval, I'm going to make a wild guess and say it could be your monitor size conflicting with the tablet size. It might be stretched slightly along the x axis if you have a widescreen display, since most tablets aren't widescreen. That's probably not it.
c. I really don't know. More information/details are necessary :c

Response to: Everything by Everyone intro movie? Posted July 7th, 2008 in Game Development

I'm guessing you mean the one used in movies sponsored by Newgrounds. Yeah, I don't think you're supposed to use that one-- I think it's only for in-house productions and sponsored movies/games. There's probably some decompiled fla of it floating around somewhere though, I've seen a few hilarious edited ones.

Searching a specific web page? Posted July 7th, 2008 in General

I'm sure there's some kind of search tool out there that lets you do a text search on a certain website. Google has the little searchbars you can put into your own website, but is there a tool like that for use on any site you want?

I hate that shit. It happens to me constantly when I'm trying to fall asleep in a moving vehicle or a busy area-- I'll be drifting off, and I can tell I'm falling asleep cause my thoughts are just wandering around everywhere, and then my hearing will suddenly cut out. Just for a second or two, and I'll have the sensation of falling, and then I jerk awake again. Or I'll be almost sleep and then my entire body does this spasm thing and I wake up.

I used to have a lot of frightening dreams when I was younger. I can remember a few very vividly from when I was 4 or 5-- I slept on a futon on the ground (still do) and in my dream I "wake up" and there are feet everywhere. My room and the house are normal, but there are these deathly white feet on the ground. I walk into my parents' room. There are little lights around the ceiling and my parents and sisters are all sitting next to each other on the bed, but they all have different faces and they're looking at me. Then I wake up.

Quite often I have these panic attacks, where I'll suddenly be afraid of anything and everything in my house. It usually happens when I'm home alone and upstairs, and I begin to feel claustrophobic and am afraid to look around corners or do anything. I usually race downstairs and go outside, where there's noise and light and movement and I can escape the silence and fear. Anyway, sometimes that happens to me when I'm trying to go to sleep. I can't look around the room or I'll see scary shit in every corner, so I just face the wall and wait for it to pass. Sometimes when I go to sleep after one of these, I have these running half-dreams, where there'll be a vague sort of story playing out in my head, usually involving people from my life. I can't control it or stop it. My brain is spinning out this progressively creepier narrative in my head, and unless I physically get out of bed and break the cycle of sleep and thought, it'll continue for hours.

Wait, what? So because you made some lame website listing "targets" you hated, ON THE INTERNET, for ANYONE TO SEE, and got in trouble for it, you're blaming it on this girl? You really have no one to blame but yourself.

I'm melting here Posted July 6th, 2008 in General

This must be one of the hottest days of the summer so far. Minnesota is a land of extremes, and the temperatures today are definitely up there. I can't draw, or animate, or do anything but loaf around on various BBS's and be a passive consumer of information. I've brought my computer to the beautifully cold basement once already today, but there is no internet down there, regrettably. Without a cold drink I can't think straight.

Any suggestions to cool down or things to do in the oppressive heat?
