Well the thing is that at least with the Big Bang Theory you can map out the progression of matter in the universe and then come to the theory of the Big Bang off of collected observations rather than just making up philosophical/mythological stories to magically explain everything.

It would be like me going to the store and noticing milk on the shelf and thinking "how did that milk get there". I could explain it by saying the "milk fairy" brought it from her castle and puts it on the shelf every night, but she is invisible and no way of detecting her putting the milk on the shelf, making that theory neither provable or disprovable while at the same time i could then look at the back of the store, notice a "milk truck" and come to the conclusion that the milk truck brings the milk, yet i never saw anybody unload the milk truck and therefore that theory is neither provable nor disprovable.

now which one sounds more logical to you?

I think that's a shitty comparison. the milk truck is easily observable with just a bit of investigation, and similarly to how the outward expansion of the universe can be observed now, it's a part of a larger process. Just from seeing the milk truck doesn't tell you where the truck came from, or how it got there.

I understand your skepticism. I have a program called Pencil (Google it) which let me do all of the background and the river. The only thing I made in Flash was the flying creature. If that is not enough proof, I guess I can upload the individual pieces that I drew.
And also, go to my NG profile. I'm a real artist, not some kid copying images from the internet!

oh goodness, I'm terribly sorry. I misunderstood your post, and thought you used pencil and Flash 8-- pencil in the traditional sense. I guess I should've paid more attention

Posted: 06/01/09 10:26 PM

Forum: General

How can any of you actually defend this kind of thing? Xombie's success on the web got Farr exposure and income--if they had never been online for free, he would probably have never gotten this DVD deal at all. It's so ridiculous that any of you think he's even slightly justified in doing this. He DID have a say in it, he DID sell out, and he CHOSE to take his series away from the people who supported him and got him this far. It's true they're not deleted from the site entirely, indicating that they may be available again someday, but that DOES NOT JUSTIFY IT. If anything, it makes it even more slimy--he's yanking them so he can make a few dollars off DVDs and when sales die off within a few weeks he'll put them up again.
Truly a disgusting abuse of your fans and supporters.

Topic: Cintiq glitch with Flash panel menu

Posted: 04/13/09 11:29 PM

Forum: Flash

At 4/13/09 11:18 PM, jmtb02 wrote: Beautiful illustration.

Setup your Cintiq to be the primary monitor. Flash hates the fact that you're primary is not the cintiq so it'll spawn popups in the primary (your other monitor). This happened on our lab computers when I was at school... hope it's the same issue.

You can easily fix this by making your cintiq the primary monitor and then extending to your other monitor. If memory serves me right you don't actually have to change any cables to do this... just open up the display settings and go at it.

I thought of trying this, but regrettably I can't set any monitor as my primary monitor except the laptop screen. It makes sense that it's locked that way, but it's frustrating to no end. I do think this would solve the issue-- but I can't do it.

Another thing you can think about is that Flash determines it's previous location by the window in which it is closed at the end of the day. Think about opening Flash, dragging it completely to the cintiq window, expanding it, and then closing it. Typically it will remember the last window it was in and call it home. This may fix the situation.

Sounds irritating, good luck.

Tried restarting and various other things already, all after shutting down Flash in the Cintiq window. what's most baffling about this is that it really does only occur above that line. If I drag the color panel below it and open the menu, it works perfectly, regardless of which monitor it's on.

Topic: Cintiq glitch with Flash panel menu

Posted: 04/13/09 11:01 PM

Forum: Flash

whenever I'm using my Cintiq tablet, and click the little menu tab at the top of any panel (Color, Library, etc), something very irritating happens. I use the Cintiq as a second monitor for my laptop, and the two don't line up perfectly--the Cintiq is up above the laptop by about an inch and a half, and is 1600x1200 as opposed to 1280x800. In any case, if the little menu button is above the "line" where the two meet, the menu opens not at the tab where I click, but in the bottom right corner of the other monitor, where I cannot reach it with my Cintiq pen. I attached a beautiful graphic i made to explain my predicament.

So, any panel I click above the danger line will open its menu in the bottom right corner of the other screen. Very frustrating, and I have no idea what's causing it, and unless I rearrange my entire workspace there's no way to avoid it except to "reposition" my monitors in the Display Settings and remove the overlap. Thoughts/suggestions?

PS: This doesn't happen in Photoshop, only in Flash. Using CS3 btw

Sounddogs is lovely because for some reason they only charge for sounds over 30 seconds. Anything shorter than that will be entirely contained in the preview mp3, and you can just download that.

if you're already doing all your coloring on another layer, it might save time to copy all your fbf linework onto that layer, fill with paintbucket, and then do more detailed work with the brush. Saves a lot of tedious space-filling.

If Adobe is going to keep charging forward like an enraged rhinoceros and force their new tween system/UI down everyone's throats (likely) you should probably go with CS4. If you're not already accustomed to the older layout of 8 or CS3, you'll have a much easier time adjusting to it than if you had been working in the old interface for years.

Topic: Obamaisms

Posted: 02/26/09 12:19 AM

Forum: Politics

This is a terrible idea. Using "Bush-isms" to try and make any sort of judgment on the intelligence of George W. Bush indicates, to me, a lack of real facts being compensated for by pointing fingers at verbal slip-ups and yelling "SEE? SEE?" I didn't and don't agree with many of Bush's policies, but that doesn't mean I should judge him by his speech and not the ideas underlying it. Obamaisms will be in short supply if President Obama continues to speak as eloquently as he has been thus far, and in any case they're not terribly funny.
