Just now, I watched the first episode of a new show on ABC called "Flash-Forward"
Story and concept: Everyone in the world blacks out for the course of 2 minutes and 17 seconds, exactly at the same time - EVERYONE has a vision of the future at exactly 10:00 PM on April 29th, 2010.
My thoughts: This had it's ups and downs.
Some of the ups:
1)Unique concept, yeah they have flash-forwards in the later seasons of Lost but in that series it's only the viewers who see the future, not the character him/herself.
2)Interesting starting point for the series, due to the fact nobody knows anything about what happened they are going to have to rely on just what they saw in there visions, it hasn't been confirmed if all or even if ANY of the visions are going to happen.
3)The fact they didn't show us all the main characters flash-forwards already, yeah we saw some of them but besides the main character himself(Nick Park) leaving what everybody saw a mystery.
Some of the downsides:
1)Generic, bland and generally uninteresting cast of actors - Whenever you watch a movie or show there is usually always one or more characters that catch your eye "Oh I like that guy!" "Hes funny!" "I hope he lives in the end!" etc, types of characters. From the pilot, not a single character catches my eye and none of them are particularly really likable.
2)Horribly generic events taking place right when the flash-forwards + black outs occur. A couple having sex, some FBI agents chasing terrorists, a guy about to commit suicide...Come on? Seriously? Is it just me, or are these some pretty predictable events for an ABC series to have happen on the first episode.
3) Finally, the show seems to really undermine the exact damage on the world of having 2 minutes blacked out from every single person. Yeah they cover a lot of damage in the first half the episode, then the second half of the episode(Even though it should be like that same day) everyone acts as if nothign hardly happened. I mean, doctors wouldn't be hanging out talking about what they did the day before - they would be trying to help COUNTLESS dying people, the streets still would be in utter chaos, the FBI would be too busy trying to save people than trying to figure out what happened(Keep in mind this is a WORLD events)
This show is supposed to rival Heroes and it supposed to replace Lost(Next season is it's final season)
What do you guys think?
Since this is a show where literally episode one aired TODAY, I think plenty of people should be able to discuss the show here every week - As opposed to making a thread about a show that is almost over or over as there is little discussion to make other than "I think this should've happened instead"
Discuss.
