That K.I.S.S rule is dumb and should be thrown out along with the animators survival kit.
(Its just Preston Blair's "Cartoon Animation" with sarcastic undertone and every-loving name dropping)
A good way to work out detail is to follow a process.
First make your more scene and motion. (what you are animating)
keep it as bare as you can until you have a nice flow of movement.
Next add a new layer and add some detail over that.
Then add another layer.
repeat this until you have a median you like.
You may also want to avoid zooming in to much. You can get away with the "less is more" when focal is not close.
Lastly, Its your project.
You can change technique and find advice that helps you, But i wouldn't let others dictate your vision and what YOU want to do.
But it is good knowing how long some things can take, then adjusting to that.
what i do is have my ink on top layer.
color or shade under it
then copy the top layer and "past in place" on the layer under.
I do this till its flattened enough.
May help
10 years ago it was Puffy. 5 years before that it Snoop and Dre 5 years before that it was MC hammer...
this list uncreativity's can go on.
5 years from now it will be some other hip hop artist "sampling" something else and pissing ppl off.
could be a combo of allot of things.
The front runner is the tablet there is no getting around that.
next you are probably just spinning your circles and caught up on points you shouldn't be.
Seeing your process may help to.
If you are skipping some simple but well needed processes that could be part of it also.
This happens allot when ppl go for more detailed/higher production style animations.
Example: if you try to go from story board to Final in one step, you will find you are spending more time getting things to look right and fixing things, rather then flowing and moving in on.

Pretty much a fact.
After South Korea had pushed the north back, It was the Chinese who basically used artillery and just mass of body's to push the south back.
It was common to find the typical Chinese soldier with little more then a rucksack and broken riffle.
Combine with the fact they had little in the way of food and traveled long distances, They was not much of a opposition for American forces.
The Chinese operated on propaganda and psychological war-fair,
Given the last century and the Russia/China stand off.
There is little to suggest they ever changed that.
Thanks for kicking me when i entered.

print your script out and mail it to yourself.
Never open it though.
What this does if give you a cheap mans copyright.
In case some one steals it and it makes alot of money you can take them to court, have the judge open the envelope (will have the government seal on it)
This will show that the work is yours, with the date.
About animation, You would have to go about hiring a group of animators, Voice actors and probably musicians and special effects people.
Its not cheap, and can often cost more then just making a live action.
If you want get the movie made, but dont see that happening, your best bet would be a comic/graphic novel.
Its the in between of live action and animation, but alot cheaper to produce.
If it is a hit, and gets big you can then look at the options of getting it made into a live action movie or animation.
You may even be able to sell it to a major publisher or studio.

Plus once it is clean I like to rub my cheeks on it for it is so smooooooooth.
It gets to be a pain to clean all the time, Plus your hand starts to stick.
You can always just cut the fingers out of a cheap glove.
all but the pinky that is.
I alos forgot to add,
With the Cintiqs you can use the Airbrush and Artbrush sold on Wacoms site.
I never used em, but the videos i seen of em seem pretty cool.
That is another Pro to teh Cintiq
At 5/10/10 08:22 AM, Starogre wrote: First of all I couldn't appreciate your post more. Thanks a ton! I do have a few questions.
Second, does this glove come with the Cintiq?
Third, I've heard about 'lag' while drawing, or waiting for a line to appear a split second after you draw it on the Cintiq. Have you experienced this?
And Fourth, about how long did it take to start learning the Cintiq? I have an intuos3 i got a long while back and the speed of drawing on it and using the keyboard has grown on me. I am willing to switch though if the Cintiq can outweigh the overall drawing abilities though. (Which it seems like it does because it feels more "real" than an Intuos)
you have to buy the glove separate.
http://www.smudgeguard.com/
Kinda lame i know, But it is worth it... eventually.
never seen any lag, or herd of it. Other then maybe not properly hooking up the tablet, or not having your OS run the 2 monitors correctly. I dont see how that can happen. (maybe slow PC?)
That would be something to check with Wacom though.
It took me about a day or so to fully get used to it.
Really the only thing you have to get used to is the feeling of drawing on glass. It also has a (one) sponge like nib that is really awesome, But doesn't feel all that natural at first.
It was allot harder going from the clintiq back to my Intuos. then it was going to the clintiq.
It could be teh audio has soem silince you need to edit out.
If you recorded it and didnt get the start to the second, It can causse it to be a tiny bit off.
Wile one time doenst really show, It can add up.
Can also be due to lag.
If you have some heavy scenes and allot of vectors, try making the more detailed parts PNG or Bitmaps to see if that sorts it out.
If all else fails and its set up on the timeline well, but playing off, Try exporting the movie as a WAV.
This will take all your audio tracks and layers and put them into 1 track.
Next delete all your sound layers and import the wave you just made.
This will force the player to play sound, on every frame, even if its silenced.
If you do that and its still off, go to your publish settings and set the stream to Speech at 44mhz.
You may have to edit for any cracking or pops.
you can do that in the edit menu of the properties when you select the layer with the audio in it,
At 5/10/10 12:20 AM, Starogre wrote: Cintiq 21ux or Intuos 4? Pros and Cons? Go!
From my experience, Il give my pros and cons.
Ive never used the Cintiq 21, but had my hands on a Cintiq12wx (its same expect fro screen size)
Intuos 4:
Pro:
- Sensitivity level, speed and accuracy.
I never thought it mattered much untill i went from a graphire 3 to the Intous. Was a huge difference.
- On screen buttons.
From the quick selects to the movement bar. Getting used to it not only saved time, but made drawling and animating more natural. Everything could be done in 2 hands, with out having to stop your pace to change brush sizes, zoom in, move the screen, ETC. No need for looking at your keyboard.
- The pen.
From the different nubs to just the construction of the pen and grip, was over all more comfortable.
Cons:
- Size.
Even the smallest one is a bit more clunky then smaller Graphire or bamboos. This made it often a problem when you have to move the table to try to stay calibrated.
- Heat
The Intious is hot. Laying it on your lap or other places was not only awkward, but got a bit to warm,
-Screen smudge.
having to use a special glove to help keep the sweat and grime of the surface was something i never got used to when compared to the graphire. Wile they use a better plastic, Its still kinda anoying.
Cintiq12wx
Pros:
- Great Screen
even the smaller version had a very crispm, large enough screen.
- On tablet buttons.
(same as Intous)
- Numbs
again same as Intious, but i loved the soft, sponge like nub.
- Rotation.
One of biggest and probably best is the ability to move the screen any where you want.
This made doing archers and lines at different angles a god send.
- Looking at the screen wile you draw.
Ive been using tablets for years, So it took some getting used to being able to look at my self as i draw.
once past the feeling of drawling on glass(but there is a nib to make it feel like paper) it was amazing.
I was able to put it on my lap, on a desk. even lay down and just sketch on it.
This is one the biggest factors for me, the speed and natural feeling i got from the 12wx could not be beat.
Cons:
- Set up.
You dont juts put the Cintiq in your usb and use.
You have to hook it to your computer via a media box thing.
This also comes with having to set up your PC to use 2 monitors.
Wile this is not very hard, It does not have that plug and use as other tablets.
-Screen
Again like the Intous, The screen requires a glove, unless you want grime and hand sticking.
Wile its not that bad, and the glove is confy, Its a added distraction.
- Calibration
Some times when you use it for the first time, the pen to screen can be off a bit. This needs to be calibrated.
Its not common knowledge to do this, so many ppl just adjust to it not knowing.
-Price.
If you consider what it does, It is worth its price and more, But it is still a very steep price for someone on the outside trying save up for one (thats me atm)
Intous vs Cintiq.
Both have the same features and come with similar programs.
The on screen buttons are the same, along with pens and nibs.
The Cintiq comes with a standard 2 year warranty.
This is not a add on price, or something you buy. It is standard with the Cintiq from Wacom. So unless you void your warranty, they will replace it.
Im not sure if this true with the Intous 4.
Pen sensitivity, Both have about the same range, To the point you cant tell the difference. This is a very good thing.
Screen adjustment.
The ability look at your hand wile you are drawling, able to move the screen in anyways you and stil draw natural.
Plus both Cintiq's come with stans that allow you toset it up like a draft board, or angled on the stand.
This is something the Intous can not do. The Intous must stay at a certain ration in order to keep your drawling centered.
Price.
Wile both are worth it in every way, The Intous has a cheaper price tag for those who just need a good tablet. Wile the Cintiq price tags is warranted more for the dedicated tablet users.
Plug and play.
wile the Cintiq12wx is great to take around with you, It does not exactly just plug and go like the Intous. This can be a factor for ppl who need a tablet with out having to hook it up every station they go to.
Over all, If you are a serious animator or artist. the Cintiq is the way to go. Its ability to move the screen around, Adjust it on a station and the fact you are just looking at your hand wile you draw, But with the options given when using programs like Photoshop and flash, make it better then pen and paper in many ways.
If you are on a budget and just need a high quality tablet for animating and drawing, the Intous cant be beat.
im personally saving up and dreaming the day i own a Cintiq.

The Lane Bryant thing may have been explicit. But the models weight was an issue anyway even if it wasn't the reason why it was pulled people still had problems with it. Also my parents talk shit about anyone and everyone. But they never once mentioned my cousins clothes.
No one made a issue about the models weight expect for lame byrant who seems to be trying to stir up press.
The official statement was it was pulled off during prime time hours, same with many other adverts on ABC and fox.
It was not pulled off completely, censored or banned, Only lame bryant is claiming so...
In fact it was not even pulled off prime time, Only there family time shows, Like Dancing with the stars, and American Idol was it not allowed to run.
Fox even asked for many re-edits of the commercial if they wish to air it during certain prime time slots. Lame Bryant did not do it.
Many advertisers have to do this for certain times and shows as the network targets certain demographics.
This is nothing new. many advertisers edit there own adds for certain times.
Lame Bryant is the one that caused a fuss, Pulled the add off there own website and youtube channels.
ABC even responded to the claims
"Their statements are not true. The ad was accepted. Lane Bryant was treated absolutely no differently than any advertiser for the same product. We were willing to accommodate them, but they chose to seek publicity instead."

Not really. Unless you used movieclips and things. It shouldn't matter much.
I find Aftereffects handles movie files better. But i haven't used it in a long wile, So things may have changed.
Usually though, When making a very heavy animation, You want to stay away from trying to export it as a swif, as it can take up allot of time and CPU.
But if they are in small enough parts, Again, it shouldn't matter
